  1. Swift, silent, secure???? ironic.
  2. Being bald, I avoided hats due to ridiculous tan lines and “tried” to sunscreen. Now wear a hat and sun buff. Cheap amazon pack along with a freebie sun shirt from st Croix. Stick sunscreen for nose now. I’m not prone to burning but....Hoping to be a better example for my kids... it covers my ears which I am concerned with...and found it to be cooler in the heat of summer. Son took to it like nothing. Keep us posted on the follow ups. Unfortunately it’s likely a future event for some more of us. Too bad we can’t undo past decisions.
  3. Last post spawn on Stockton If we didn’t see a fish, we never got a bite. Conversely we caught some fish on every point we marked fish. Truly eliminated water for us. My kid became a believer as did I. First year with si/di helixes. The nav with open water brush piles is invaluable. Really helps keep a bait in brush.
  4. Beautiful! I was given a John Coulter book at Christmas. Amazed to connect some of the places you mention to the book. The pics sure show the attraction. Thanks!
  5. I’ll second this one....
  6. Can you reach the pegboard from the boat? I wish I could but my shop is not set up to make that easily accomplished. A buddy of mine had that set up plus a ceiling fan above to dry it. I did manage to install a ceiling fan over it.
  7. I settled on the harbor freight bulk hook kit and discarded the useless ones. Felt cheaper and some were useful on tool boards in the shop
  8. There’s a good YouTube video where Ott goes thru the back end too. The plume is what the whole rig depends on. Exaggerated version of what we do with jack plates and set back on a bass boat. I get the rule change on these, only of use by a few and available (in addition to glass tournament rig) to even fewer https://youtu.be/oFwLzeqkZ5Q
  9. Take a minute and look. Not even remotely stock. Draft while fishing, motor position during “normal” use all different than what you can skim over under motion. The firmness of the bottom of the lake makes a little difference too. If it moves, that helps. http://www.boatus.com/magazine/fishing/archives/ott-defoe.asp
  10. The tunnel on that rig is supplying water to the lower unit. Stacked jack plates count on the crest of the forced water to have something usable by the prop. There is a deflector in the tunnel too. I’m sure it’s undesirable to have the motor that high and the tunnel wide open for any length of time.
  11. Chunk, wind, larger fish. Thankfully some of the new has worn off it and it’s another tool. Initially it was the only thing to throw
  12. Is the back page ironic or just practical for l of o? Maybe the phone book appeals to the demographic? impressive results nonetheless. I wouldn’t have guessed pass thru.
  13. Gerald swindle has one. Not sure I like the location for seeing around with the timber we have around here. Would love to have the screen size to split up versus current.
  14. I was shocked to see the monster Solix in the BPS catalog. 15.4” display! My skinny nosed Triton took some studying to get a 9” on it and keep it visible but not in the way Really not sure how to mount on a bass boat. Would love to see how someone worked into a front deck or a console on a bass rig.
  15. No doubt productive pasture is barren to wildlife. I’m inclined to believe that’s as much on non-native grasses as it is anything. Fescue is useless to wildlife but sure is hardy. Trying to carry more than the land reasonably supports is a problem seen on occasion. Prices go back up, they will carry less.
  16. As long as it gets above freezing during the day and there’s a good reason, I’m up for it. I’m out if there is no chance of nature melting the ice in my guides.
  17. WOW! Congrats on your success and I admire your commitment.
  18. Saw a leg snap at PB2 slipping on ice before takeoff. On the walk ramp down from the store to the dock. The sight and sound of that left a mark for onlookers too. Guy handled it better than I would, no recollection of an expletive. I’d have some nc17 words if my foot was 90 degrees from proper Not nearly as cold as projected for this weekend.
  19. Ag gets a bad rap in part deserved and in part due to size. Inappropriate dumping at landfills happens every day the dump is open. Ignorant folks dump stuff at creek crossings and into ditches all across our state. I’ve seen many more improperly disposed deer carcasses this year than I’ve ever seen farm animals dumped. Feedlots aside, rotational grazing is the norm. We hay pasture as do most I know. I’m from a farming family and know that care for the land and animals is key to continued farming. If not, I guess the masses can eat stuff “grown” in a lab. Has to be better for the streams, right?
  20. Much litter goes into digesters to use the gases for power and speed up fertilizer ready solids from fowl. Why not heat the houses with a byproduct? Beef, well it regenerates pasture much like the 30 million buffalo did before cattle repopulated their grazing ground. Some runs off for sure Manure runoff isn’t new. Petroleum based fertilizer run off is...
  21. That’s something I’ll look for. I doubt the initiative is there and I’d be the last stop based on bedding areas.
  22. I was looking at a perennial clover blend maybe one blended with alfalfa. My son thinks he wants to raise bottle calves for my FIL. If he does do that, the clover is no harm to helpful.
  23. Eating carp seems like “going ugly early “. It’s a valid option and it’s not widely viewed as top notch.
  24. Here are 5 scavenging tonight by my shop. Not a great pic but it’s from my kitchen.
  25. No intent to feed via food plot, only entice and generate habits for harvest as you outlined I may just leave the feed alone for the winter. There are 3 really nice bucks in the vicinity I would love to have frequent my place late September of next year. I do wonder if a feeder wouldn’t impact their view of my property I used to deer hunt more than I do nowadays and always Osage river and north. I’m new to the urban deer issues.
