Looking southwest 20-25 minutes after sunset you can’t miss it. It’s visible before dark and is gone not too long after. We had thin clouds roll in around 7 and couldn’t see a trace. It was evident at 5:45.
  2. Finding a factory plastic part might be possible with time on eBay. another option is to call Mark at Polyfab plastics in Springfield. They can recommend a plastic and router the shape for you.
  3. Dents are the nemesis of a thermos. Change the volume of the “jacket” and it changes the vacuum. decrease vacuum and you increase thermal transfer. I have a floating thermos that has stood the test of time. Turns out the floatation protects it from drops. No idea if it floats..😁

I’d appreciate a good shot of the star tonight. Had baseball training, didn’t get a chance today. Did slip out to see by eye. Wife looked at through spotting scope, had a “j” shape tonight per her.

Tried to get a decent picture via phone adapter for spotting scope. I’m learning. Christmas star last night and tonight. certainly closer together today. It’s a trip to think that it could be the same phenomenon the 3 wisemen saw.....
  6. That’s a single sack out of a regatta. 10-15 lb sacks are way more common. It’s not lake of the Ozarks.... the tight weights are in the 2lb average.
  7. Further from what I recall.
  8. Not without a calibration sticker...
  9. On the iPhone SE too Standard 8 1/2” by 11” paper
  10. Most events (probably all) originated from bull shoals boat dock. It’s not much of a run to theodosia. cats with Yamahas have local support in the rare event you’d need it. That’s a fine package. fishing wise, pray for some elevation or the lake is like fishing your local swimming pool. Maybe more color in the pool. The fish do eat regular stuff, just deeper than you’d normally fish. Big sacks are rare, limits of keepers are common.

@ness I see one shot from the garden. did you get to explore the gardens too? They had an event the day I was there, really wish I could have. Did get to several cathedrals south of Paris in the evenings during the week. Amazing craftsmanship and architecture. Snapped a pic from the bell tower at the Bourges cathedral. Most stairs I ever climbed

@Flysmalliethe landscape shot is epic. I’m assuming drone for the first 2?

Was fortunate enough to get tickets and was there before it opened thus nobody standing on it. Fit and finish is amazing. Was standing on cobblestone Napoleon rode on when I snapped the pic.

Marble courtyard at the palace of Versailles. Just to be clear, not near lake of the Ozarks.... lighting is what it was during the visit. Unreal place.

iPhone image. Part of the “field of dreams” stadium tour with the SGF cardinals.
  16. I take steps to protect me thus them. It’s not terribly complicated to minimize close contact and reduce risk from a low risk (percentage of population) virus for rural living.
  17. The original post nailed it...you can’t fix stupid. also can’t force your will on another... I don’t wear a mask at home. I do out and about. It’s not really inconvenient to me. If it is to someone else, that’s fine, I’ll note it and avoid them. It’s pretty easy to not hug it out with strangers. Also easy to not put my hands in my mouth if I shake hands. way too much time spent worrying about everyone else. Didn’t you claim to wear gloves and use tongs to get the mail? That’s fear, not science...
  18. If I recall, we (USA) largely stayed out of WWII until, we were attacked... I’m going off history lessons not personal experience. Not sure it ties better to Covid or my point about freedom until infringed upon. there was unity around a collective cause for WWII with much inspiration. Unlike today’s climate. Inspiration and persuasion win over command and control.
  19. To be clear not while driving.... indoor wear
  20. I wear a mask every time I leave the house, Use hygiene, distance and avoid crowds. Work every day with a few hundred folks that do the same...at work if my example encourages others, that’s great. If it doesn’t, I do respect their rights until they infringe on me and mine. I believe choices have consequences. The results are on the one making choices. Sometimes the consequences suck and it’s still their choice until they force it on someone else.
  21. With all due respect.... your saying “do it how I think and then we’d be on the same page”...I find the view surprisingly selfish and narrow. your freedom to be you includes my freedom to be free from you. That’s how this republic works.
  22. Ridiculously ridiculous. Like the spell check on your device....
  23. IMO the line was crossed with financial incentives. Paying people to stay home was detrimental and poorly timed. DC needs to stick to the right elevation. Local recommendations (at least in Greene county mo) have been prudent. DC is a circus on both sides of the aisle.
  24. Felt disc for a battery terminal. Rub with a candle.
  25. One shoe. Not both, just one on a duck hunt. To this day I don’t know how the pair was separated or why I wasn’t wearing them....
