I dont think anyone has heard yet. -
It took almost 15 on Sunday to win and 10.5 to get a check. 45 boats, 14 limits and only 27 even weighed in
-
I know man. I just couldnt dobit and I've never threw either one enough to have the "Confidence" or brains to do it more

Fished Bass today as I heard a Couple "decent" reports from Friday, however, today was not that day. We fished almost everything in the darn boat minus a bed. Just cant make myself do it. However, we had maybe a dozen fish with 2 small keepers. 5 or 6 that were over 14.5". Absolutely No pattern. Caught 3 short walleye and caught some bass dirt shallow on a buzz bait and caught some on jigs in brush piles in 15-18 feet. Couple on a 6th sense shaker head. No spinnerbait, sqaurbills, top water other than a couple buzzbaiters, crankbait or anything else for that matter. Ready for some rain and cooler temps. Gonna give it another go next weekend. Sorry it's no help from me.

I was def happy with how I finished but I did not meet my goal. I wanted to get every tourn over 1000. I missed it 2 times with a 999 and a 997. I was just consistent all year. Never had a great one and never had a bomb. darn good year to the Winner. He killed it!!!!! -

Dang tight finish next week for 2nd-5th places. Good luck to all!! -
I can piggy back on almost everyone else. I have been busy at work this summer and did not crappie or walley fish the way I have the past couple years. I have bass fished a couple times is all in the last 2 months. The last being on Sunday. Been so slow in my normal spot I went to the other side of the lake to try my luck over there. Same results. Caught a few on Top Water spooks and lost a few as well. All on points very close to the bank. No size to speak of what so ever. Switched to throw jigs, big worms, and a brush hog in all depths. Same thing, Only a few fish and Nothing at all to brag about. Ended with 3 keepers total. Caught prob 15 total Id say. Our 3 keepers wouldnt even have went 5 lbs as 2 were Ks and 1 Black. It was rough. Hopefully this rain and cooler weather soon will bring better days. I prob wont be back up there for a couple weeks. Maybe even a month or so if nothing changes. Its to far for me to go to get my butt handed to me. I can stay home and mow if I want to be miseralbe. LOL

We found probably that exact thing last summer up there. Not sure if its the same spot but was on the northern end of the lake in a cove over on the west side. Prob couldn't find it again if I had too but I though it was very odd and have never seen it again up there.
-
I have been up there twice in the last week or so. 1st time during a Bass tourn and we had 3 Keeper eyes, All caught on a jerkbait. Thrown into about 5 ft of water on the side of points, jerked into deeper water. Went back with the kids crappie fishing a few days later and tried to replicate it while they had minnows out and boom same thing in the same type of places with the same jerk baits.

Very nice. I grew up about 45 mins NE of Sioux Falls in a tiny town called Wentworth. I had family in Aberdeen which is up that direction also. Good luck and hope to see some good pictures. We primarily fished walleye and jumbo yellow perch up there. Great times as a kid!!

Where you headed to up there?
-
Hey dayne, how was the water color up there. Is the water getting close to the bushes or still got some room. Did you happen to notice the color any farther south on the lake some
-
It got very windy but the Legend takes it pretty good. I stayed pretty far south also so it didnt hurt to bad. Def had to be in the wind though to get bit. It was white capping at most locations. Had to spot Lock and fish off the back at several spots. Was worth it though.

Started out around 930 this morning. 1st fish was 9n a secondary point and weighed 5-14. I lost a 3 1/2 at the boat and also boasted a 3-14. I ended up with about a dozen with 8 keepers. Best 5 was 16-4. Was pretty happy with that as the one i lost would have put me over 18. It come off as I was boat flipping ur bc I didnt have the net out. Tried some crappie for 2 hours but had no luck at all. Arig caught the big, couple on a rock crawler and the rest of everything on a jerkbait. Good luck out there.

Thank you very much for the heads up. I still havent been able to make myself bite the bullet and go down there. Each time I think about it I go North to familiar water on Stockton instead. I am the same distance from either place and with limited time I just do better on familiar water. I will force myself to do it someday

Official One Bass Tourney thread - March 11, 2023

I actually have nothing planned yet for that weekend so I might be able to make my 1st one. I've always wanted to but just had other tournaments on the days. That would be awesome -
Out of curiosity, what does the water look like right now that far up the river?
-
Sorry gentleman, Nothing to report because I decide to head north to Stockton instead and glad I did. Instead of searching for something in a new area I went to comfort up north since the wind was "supposed" to be less today. I have a more detail report and that page but just wanted to post here since I said I would.

I dont know what Happened brother, I tried my best. That was prob the best day Ive had in a couple years. An absolute balst.
-
Hard to explain how today went. I left Aurora this morning and decided to go north because the wind was not blowing at all. I got up to Stockton and the wind was crazy but after a 45 min drive, I put in at Ruark at 915. I was withing 5-10 min of the ramp the whole 4 hours I was out. I fished from 0915-1230 with 0 fish to show for it. Fished 3 different areas that had fish on brush in deeper water, but I just could not get them to bite. I was headed to go see Ketchup before I headed home to get to work and decided to pull into one of my better April and May spots just to kind of see what was happening. Needless to say, I found them. I called Ketchup over so he could get on them also to No avail, but gents let me tell you. I could not get them in the boat fast enough and if I had 2 people in my boat, we could have both had a limit in the same amount of time. By the time I got 1 in the LiveWell and back up front I could do it again with in 2 cast. It was one of my best days I have had in a couple of years. Small, chartreuse 3/32 jig head with a baby bobby garland (Bubble Belly) in green and pink, (watermelon). I had the boat loaded and, on the way, home by 1330. It took less than 30 min to fill my limit. I'd like to say I was exaggerating but it was better for me today than most days in the spring. They were a lot shallower than I excepted. 1/2 male and females. This was only my 2nd trip this year and won't get back up for a bit I'd say so these will last me a couple weeks at home since I'm the only one that eats them. Good Luck to everyone in the coming cold week. thumbnail (1).jfif thumbnail.jfif

To all my kings river guys, I am thinking about running down tomarrow and trying to jerk up some walleye. Possibly a swim bait as well. My question is going to be has anyone put in at Hickory Hallow and ran toward the bridge. I've never been on that part of the lake so I was wondering if there us a ramp at hickory hollow and if a bass boat would put in fine there. Also, I the water too shallow up there or lots of trees? Not looking for any fish advise but just trying to keep the boat safe. Thanks in advance and I'll post some results tomarrow night.

There is nothing better to me than fresh walleye to eat. Now with that being said, I typically dont fish for them until April and even after that I might keep 10 a year or so. They rarely make it to my freezer. I have 0 problems with people keeping walleye as long as we are smart about it and not taking big egg loaded females this time of year. I was at the docks about 3 weeks ago or so at Cape fair. I saw the biggest in person walleye ever and absolutely made me sick. I'd say it would have went close to if not over 10 lbs. There is no way I could have got 2 hands around the belly of that giant bc she was stuffed to the gills with eggs. Heart breaking really. This part is hard to say because it was not a guide but a by catch by a young gentleman in a Tourn. I will never bash the tourn guys bc I enjoy tournaments like the next guy but as a fisherman in general I would have liked to see that fish back in the lake after a few picture.
