What sux is anyone of those things not done could result in a fine...or at the very least harassment from your local GW.....To me thats alittle overkill on the labeling but thats just me.
Did you know that if you have fish in your possession that you have caught...each person has to put their conservation number on the bag and what kind of fish and how many and the date of said catch...I did not know you had to put you conservation number on the bag....until i over heard a guy at my local cafe telling me he got a ticket for crappie that he didnt have his conservation number on...he had them labelled but not all the way labelled.......????
Well I went to Taney this week on my family vacation and I was a little Leary after the first day when I went out and found a lot of chocolate milk water. I had one bite the first afternoon with one small bass to show for it. The next morning I got up early and started fishing a white spinnerbait around rockaway beach area. Caught one fish the first hour. The water was stained but atleast not choco milk. Then I made a decision that would change my week. I went to a texas rigged brushogg and on the first good cast I made up against some rock boom I landed a 5 lber and after that I landed 4 more big keepers. I had a blast. Called it a day after about 4 hours of fishing. Got up the next morning went to the same spot and fished the same stretch of bank with a brushogg again and after about 20 mins and about 75 yards from where I caught the 5 lber I set the hook on a bigger bass and I landed my PB a 6lb 9 oz. What a turn around from the first outing of the week. I caught plenty of fish in the three days I fished. I love Taney for both Bass and Trout!!
I fished lower Taney all week from rockaway down about a mile just got home 15 mins ago. Early in the week it was bad but the last three days have been awesome. Caught my PB a 6lb 9oz and another 5 lber to boot with lots of keepers in between. Go up the cove thru the pilings right next to Rockaway beach and throw a buzz bait or a poppin frog. Man were they hungry back there. Its just hard to fish because of the grass. The water is in good shape now with alittle stain but the bite was on!!
Caught my only keeper of the tourney last weekend on an A-rig at TR...threw it 50% of the time i would say. It will catch em but it will wear you out if you do it all day lol!
Dang...I fished it I stunk It up..one keeper for two days. I used Under spins, salt pepper grubs, umbrella rig, Rock crawler, wiggle wart, keitech swimbaits.........but i had fun still!!
I was told a couple weeks ago...cause i asked this same question to one of the resort owners on lake taney. That its about a month later than tablerocks spawn? Dont know if thats right but thats what I was told.
Welcome aboard! I live about 12 mins from Montauk. The fishing has been pretty good there so far this season. We got about another inch of rain last night here and quite alot of runoff since we have been saturated this week with water. But its not flooded around here just a rise in the water abit. You will probably find the water up abit and stained alittle but I think it wont hurt the fishing much. It may even help it some! Goodluck!
