Maybe.. The winter trout C&R would have more interest to me if not limited to weekends, my trips are usually spur of the moment and I would have gone today. Weekends are often planned by or around family. The result is I might not go to RR at all through the winter. Indian Creek or Big Sugar is open to C&R every day, so ...

I can so relate with this :)

According to the internet; this is supposed to be the same as Frogs Fanny in bulk form https://www.epoxyusa.com/fumed_silica_p/ft02.htm and this also https://www.cabelas.com/product/Feather-Powder/744851.uts?Ntk=AllProducts&searchPath=%2Fcatalog%2Fsearch.cmd%3Fform_state%3DsearchForm%26N%3D0%26fsch%3Dtrue%26Ntk%3DAllProducts%26Ntt%3DFeather%2Bpowder%26WTz_l%3DHeader%253BSearch-All%2BProducts&Ntt=Feather+powder&WTz_l=Header%3BSearch-All+Products -
Nice tutorial. I was taught to take the tail off with the "shirt" and then peel the "pants" down from hip to foot. Your way leaves an intact pelt.

When you was young they didn't let you play video games. When you was young it was politically correct to eat fish you caught, today catch and release is a religion. Even on a bluegill forum it is said c&r is the only way to get big fish.

Has AR stocked their part of Table Rock?
-
Radiation scares fish. You'll need a tinfoil parka and hat.
-
A non-native fish just like carp.
-
1988 was the last year they stocked Sam Rayburn with Largemouth Bass, 21 adults. From 1975 to present they have only stocked Florida Bass fry and fingerlings. (of the blak bass family)
-
As far as I know Mo. has no hatchery set up for Black Bass. Why would they? Bass are native and self sustaining and relatively long lived and for the most part unharvested.
-
Are the derbies set up to pay MDC to stock fish or to build hatcheries to produce bass? How much does a derby pay MDC per man per event? If you are paying for something and not receiving it you have a right to squawk.

So, the subject of what we are supposed communicate with Mr. Bush is yet to be spelled out, (a just vote for it and read it later kind of thing?) or I missed it? But from some comments I gather this is about stocking Bass in a particular lake?

It is true nobody ever mentions the economic impact of panfish.

I have sent numerous emails to MDC about various things and always got a reply, usually next day. As to bugging an individual employee over some particular issue, it might just be a waste of time because the employee might not be the policy setter. Bo has the right idea in that if you want changes you can't just sit out; but if I wanted a change bad enough to get off my fat over, then I would go to the Commissioners with a plan and an argument, including a financial summary. Actually other than the tournament issue that fishinwrench brings up, I'm fairly satisfied with the management we have going on. I don't agree with every policy but I can see where other users might want things that I don't want and the policies tend to go with the majority of customers. The tourneys don't affect me personally because I'm not a laker, so I'm willing to let the lakes be decimated if that is what lake people want. I would like to see about 10 times more stream access and some easements, but that isn't the biologist's main function. Yep, that is the question. I'm not sure what we would say to the Branson guy. What authority does he have and how many counties are under his supervision? Is he tied to the lakes or over all the watersheds? Or is he the hatchery head? What is the nature of your discussions with him, or, what do you think he can change if we ask or insist? Wrench, can that correspondence be modified to petition format that we could submit en masse?

from that^^^ trout plan ; "trout tags and trout permits are received as general Conservation Commission Fund revenues. " OK but that does not tell me anything really. Money goes into and out of that Fund- how and how much? Doesn't even provide that the trout tag money goes to the trout program, it just says that they try to set the price at that point. The budgets for these agencies must be out there some place but my google didn't work. This plan is just a goal setting PR program, I've actually read it a couple times before with out learning anything except "Missouri anglers have become accustomed to a large average size of trout stocked in put-and-take fisheries. Rainbow trout are often stocked at an average size of nearly 12 inches (with a range of 10 to 14 inches), making them some of the largest trout stocked by a state agency in the United States (Epifanio 2000). " The MDC does not own any of the trout parks and some one pays for the DNR to maintain, police and operate the three state parks, in the case of store, campers and lodgers the vendors pay; is not the MDC a vendor? Would not the DNR ask for cost sharing or compensation? If MDC does share the Park costs, is that money counted in the cost of the trout program? wrench, my estimate for BSSP would put that closer to $30K based on those older numbers, but the greater benefit to the vendor is the $20-100 spent there just because we have to go in there to get a tag and all those goodies are between the tag counter and the door. They would profit from tag sales if they had to pay for the privilege of selling them.

Interesting, I had thought COE only allowed camping at designated sites.
-
So there are probably lots of Pickerels in that town, but maybe not chain pickerels; I had thought that was a family name.
-
Can you give me a source link to that info? I have poked around but not smart enough to find it on my own. ty

When I fly fished for chain pickerel in the north east a sparsely dressed Mikey Finn was as good as any, big and striped fast right at the weed line. Black Nose Dace and Grey Ghost worked, with spinning tackle the blue/sliver Finnish Minnow and Johnson Silver Minnow were my favorites; but any lure that resembles a fleeing or injured bait fish will take chain pickerel, ime. https://nature.mdc.mo.gov/discover-nature/field-guide/chain-pickerel

That was also mentioned by the 2-3 dozen guides on that other forum. I came away with the idea that whoever got the tip in their hand believed it to be theirs alone. They suggested individual tips for each crew member.

Pool & camping would be DNR & hatchery would be MDC, I believe. Does anyone know how much of the trout tag monies goes to DNR to allow fishing in these parks?
