  3. Was just as surprised myself, thought for sure it would be open in the main channel, as you eluded to though it does get very calm around the wide bends there. Wanted to venture downstream but ran out of time. Darn responsibilities always get in the way of our fun!

Ha ha! I was back a few pages drooling over someone's porkchops and potatoes!

    What's Cooking?

This thread is a constant reminder I need to step up my Chef skills! Some seriously tasty looking meals in here, not sure where to start?
  6. For gloves that still allow you to accomplish tasks I've found Burton's touch and go work well. Even in this deep freeze they have kept my hands plenty warm. Can fish with spinning reels, dig things out of pockets, and use touch screens with any finger and thumb. Be sure to check out the Women's sizes to find that perfect fit or finger length. https://www.dickssportinggoods.com/p/burton-mens-touch-n-go-liner-gloves-16brtmmbtchnglnrxaoa/16brtmmbtchnglnrxaoa https://www.dickssportinggoods.com/p/burton-womens-touch-n-go-liner-gloves-16brtwwbtchnglnrxaoa/16brtwwbtchnglnrxaoa Also use these for snow removal at work, typically I'll throw on a pair of leather work gloves over these to keep them from getting dirty/tore up from the snow removal equipment. Another old trick that works well is rice in a sock, heat it in the microwave then throw them in your jacket pockets.
  7. Yes sir! A few days prior I was upstream from here and it wasn't quite frozen over yet, there was a small part still flowing. For some reason it will not allow me to upload those pictures.
  8. Few captures from yesterday, the Meramec is frozen over. Wish I had a drone to fly over it and see if you can view any flow under the ice.
  9. Got some Tackle HD craws and Solar Trilene XT line. Just waiting on some warmer weather to give them a try!
  10. Merry Christmas!
  11. Home waters is the Meramec. In my youth it was Big River and Indian Hills Lake. Locally my heart is Table Rock, afar west coast Florida or Key West if I'm dreaming.
  12. Fished a few spots from the banks yesterday. Had several strikes and it felt like a few were on for a bit but was unable to pull any out. Thinking they were too small for the craw I was using, tried a few smaller baits and there was no interest, went back to the craw and it was a repeat session of strikes. Did meet an older gent who was fishing upstream from where I was. From what I understand he wasn't having any luck but there was a bit of a language barrier, neither one of us could fully understand one another.
  13. Fantastic catch, congrats!
  14. Times Beach or Allenton would be my picks. Anywhere else the water is probably too shallow if you plan on traveling any distance.

Finally made it to the Mississippi this morning. This is at the bank of Cliff cave park, normally this is where the creek flows into the river.

Yep! Seems like where I find one there's 2 or 3 others nearby...if I can get them to bite and hold on is the challenge!

The Mississippi is super low as well. Going to try and get some pictures of it tomorrow before we get rain this weekend.
  19. Good point and thank you, I should of known better but wasn't thinking about it being FI. Believe the last outboard I had was '68 Merc!
  20. Not sure if much has changed with modern outboards but in regards to winterizing, all we used to do is disconnect the fuel line and let the motor idle until it ran out of fuel, drain the lower unit and lubricate to ensure there's no water, pull the batteries and store in the garage on a battery tender. For the boat itself give it a good cleaning, install a water tight cover with supports so water cannot puddle on the cover, remove the plug and raise the bow so all water can flow out the drain hole. For the trailer bearing buddies are your best friend. At the start of next season pull the covers off the motor and visually inspect everything, fill the tank with fresh gas and always make sure you have water flow.

    Flamm City

As of Monday 12/11/17 this is what the Meramec at Flamm City looks like.
  23. The video was actually from the same day I caught the little spot above, just got around the posting it.
  24. Kind of been doing the same, been getting reacquainted with the river, used to know the lower somewhat well 20 years ago but it's changed quite a bit since then and unfortunately I no longer have a craft to explore and fish with so I stick to the banks for now.
