  1. Those are jumbos! I haven't caught any THAT big. South Dakota...Devil's Lake...has some big ones. I know guys that have done really well there. The ones below are from Iowa and Ontario.
  2. Great job! This helps me immensely. That is roughly the same size of the fish I caught that I suspected some were Silver Carp and some were Bigheads. The mottling on your specimen is very obvious, mine were not like that. So, all the Asian Carp I caught (3 foul-hooked, 2 that hit flies), were all Silver Carp.
  3. Not to change the subject back...but... Those marks on the graph don't look like a rock to me...more like some brush/bush or a root wad. With fish around it.
  4. I will keep that in mind. For 2021, my goal is going to be to try to add a Blue Cat to my life fly list, and Rock Bass (Goggle Eye) and Hybrid Striped Bass to my Missouri fly list. A Missouri Brown Trout would be a nice add as well. Oh...and a Longnose Gar. I had one strike several times on the Meramec, but I never did hook it.
  5. My goals weren't too difficult. When I moved to MO in mid July, I wanted to catch 2 species I had not caught before.... Kentucky Spotted Bass and Longear Sunfish. Did that. I again want to thank each of you that gave me tips on where to go, that was very helpful and very much appreciated! I did reach the late goal of 25 species on flies in Missouri. Got to 27. Pretty good for a span of a little under 3 months! For the whole year, I think I caught 33 species on flies. Added 9 more species to my fly rod life-list, which wasn't a goal, but a welcome accomplishment. I guess I had a goal of catching Missouri Grass Carp on flies. Did that, and I'm already looking forward to more of that next year.
  6. Wow, that's a crazy population of scuds! And so active...and swarmed the hand!
  7. Romania must pay big money for scrap like that. 😁
  8. That is a strange one. I don't think I've heard of anything like that before. Even the trees?!
  9. I was wondering about the dark shape/shadow in the pictures just to the right of center. Seeing this with the two larger trees...the light must have been above and beyond those trees. Like you said... 1/8 of a mile away...would make sense. Pretty cool that you were able to get those trail cam pictures. What are the chances??
  10. Lotsa orb-looking things, and some seem lined up with others. Rather than light, its almost like the air is electrically charged...ionized...and glowing. Look at that light/dark boundary. If the reports are correct that some ET craft move by creating an area of negative gravity in the direction they wish to go, thus getting "draw into" that area of low/negative gravity... could the shapes we are seeing and energy distortions be caused by that anti-gravity field?
  11. Absolutely, lets see it!
  12. ^^^^^ That's pretty cool! 👍
  13. Nah. Everybody is from somewhere. I lived in Illinois for 7 years too. Missouri is a lot more beautiful than I expected. And I've not even barely scratched the surface.
  14. Hey! 🧐 Some great folks from Iowa. John Wayne, Johnny Carson, Jerry Mathers, George Reeves (Superman), Brandon Routh (also Superman, who was on the same high school soccer team in Norwalk, Iowa with Jason Momoa (Aquaman)...how cool is that?), Donna Reed, Glenn Miller, Buffalo Bill Cody, Tom Arnold, Adam Devine, Ashton Kutcher, Cloris Leachman, Andy Williams, ....even James T. Kirk, Ron Burgundy, and Radar O'Reilly! 😁
  15. Yeah, EVERYBODY wants one! 😂
  16. Do they grow up to look like this?
  17. Looks human made... stainless steel. Could be an old movie set prop...it would be cool if someone could figure out what movie it was in.
  18. I usually go with a 0X Tapered leader...cut the thin end off...probably end up with about 4.5' butt section...tie a loop in the front end, add about 4.5' +/- of tippet...8lb Fluoro usually for subsurface trout and sunfish, and 12lb Fluoro for bass, carp, etc. Most often, I'm fishing a 6wt. 8lb seems like overkill for trout, but I used to have a lot of problems with trout teeth shredding 6lb mono tippet way too often. And I had too many bass breaking 8-10lb tippet. So...this has worked for me. I try to keep it simple. But I may have to make some adjustments to this in the future....some of the waters here in MO are very clear...which I didn't often experience in IA.
  19. The top one was dropping eggs!
  20. Fished a few hours each of 3 days over the T-day holiday. Caught just 4 fish.Thursday's fish were 2 trout. Nice ones...14" and 16".Friday I tried a public lake for bass and crappies in the afternoon. Got skunked. What? Ouch!Sunday was warmer than originally forecast. Tried for trout again. Caught just 2. One was really small. This was the other.And...here's a raccoon taking his final rest on (in) a waterbed:If you can't tell what you are looking at....you can see an ear towards the bottom, and a hind leg near the top left.

    Slow!

What in the world IS that?? It looks delicious! My mom used to make what she called Runza's when I was much younger. Those were good...but what you have here looks way better! I'm picturing some nacho cheese in it.....mmmmm.
  22. Have you seen this? This guy is spot-on. Distance is much easier to achieve with the RIGHT amount of line out, and harder with too much line out. There's more good videos if you look at the individual fly lines on his website.
  23. How did you manage to land a Flathead that big on crappie gear?? Well done!
  24. R River Carpsucker
  25. I'm sure you are right. I've gotten along without one for this long. I'm not really looking for it to improve my casting distance. Fly line seems to find a way to tangle on everything when I fished from a boat or kayak...even when trying really hard to be careful. It might be nice for keeping the line up out of the rocks when fishing along a riprap shoreline. My wife wants to get me something for Christmas... I think I'll let her get me one, and then give it a try.
