i am fishing it very similar to how i fish the SpinJig out deep. i will crank it 6 to 12 times, and then stop and let swing back to the bottom. i change speeds of the crank and that triggers them many times also. most of the time, the bite comes after to stop cranking the the lure is swinging back to the bottom. with the 1 oz. head, you can cover a lot of water and it draws lots of strikes from somewhat inactive bass. and, when you get into active ones, it is game on. this things works well in place of a spoon either casting or fishing vertical. bo

took knickmeyer fishing last night and here is what he came up with. he caught it on one of the original 3/8 heads with black and blue skirt. it was around 15 ft. deep. we caught lots of bass for around an hour and a half. nearly a bite every cast. I was using a 3/4 GrassJig and a 1 oz. Elite Blade and they were hammering both. after good dark, we did catch a few as shallow as 10 ft., but the majority of bites were in the 15 to 20 range. bo

here is how that i fish them. very simple and effective. can be fished through anything. this setup can even be fished on 6 lb. line. bo

I fish them often when I feel that the bass are wanting a small offering. but, I just fish them on regular gear. I often just stick them behind a 1/4 or 3/8 jig head, and go to slinging. I've caught plenty of bass with this method. a drop of glue up on the neck of the jig head helps to keep the gitzit in place. I use want is call a flipping tube. bo

6/16. Another decent day on the water

wonder where they will get them all parked with most parking lots still short of room? bo -
since i use braid all the time, i just use a mh 7' rod. you can actually get away with a medium with the braid. fishing flouro or mono and fishing deep, i would still be using the 7'6" heavy action models that i used to use all the time. when fishing deep, flouro and mono have so much stretch, it really takes a lot of rod to drive the hook through bone. i do not use a leader with the braid and just tie straight to the lure. i still use the same knot that i have used for eons, but with braid, you need 8 wraps or more, where with mono or flouro, 6 wraps. i saw shaw grigsby tying my knot the other day and claimed it was the best knot he has ever found for using on flouro. back to the rods, i have a medium action that i really like to use when throwing the SpinJig or the CrazyJigs, and it does a great job of driving the hook through. bo

forgot to mention that we are adding jigging spoons in 1/2 and 3/4 oz. they are made out of zinc, not lead, and will feature a 4x wire treble hook. that hook, makes a big difference in not losing fish. this spoon, being made out of zinc, has a ring to it as it fall, and fall much differently than a lead spoon. i have used this same spoon for decades. we will have them in silver, white, and chartreuse. i have never found a need for any other colors than those three. bo

i always look at it as catching any fish is better than not catching any. i would say you had a pretty good day. bo

that custom trokar that i designed is a beast of a hook. it is a 5/0, but it is made out of .062 wire, and i do not know of any other hook in the industry that is made out of that heavy of wire. some will ask why that heavy. it is to get the flex out of the throat of the hook, which adds to easier penetration. when a hook begins flexing in the throat of the hook, it is going off parallel to your line of pull on the hookset and therefore requires more energy to penetrate. it is also made with a much better bite angle and that also makes it catch quicker on the hookset. because of so many years of fishing tournaments i have always hated losing a fish after it is hooked. i want to touch them all. i never liked those long arm releases. the GrassJig is also built with the same trokar hook. i actually only fish the GrassJig now unless in need to go down to a 1/4 or 3/16. i also use it on the bladed jigs, and on my spinjigs. it is amazing how much easier it comes through any type of cover and it still drills them through the top of the head. we are actually coming out with the GrassJig bladed jig (the Elite Blade) at the icast show next month. i caught 5 bass up to 4 lbs. on the 1 oz. model a couple of nights ago fishing between kc and and cow creek. all the bass came around 20 ft. deep. this will definitely be another great deep water fishing tool. i caught several bass this winter on it, fishing it like a spoon, casting and vertical both. got the vibration when you jig it up, and has a crazy erratic action when it falls, and best of all the bass seem to like it. the bass that i caught the other night, i was using a crank and stop and let it coast retrieve. every bite came while it was coasting back to the bottom. it seemed that at the 20 ft. depth that after 7 to 10 cranks, it would be around 3 ft. off the bottom. so, i was essentially fishing it just in the same manner that i do with the SpinJig. we are going to the creek to get some underwater footage of it coming through the water, and i will see if i can post some footage. this thing is insane coming through the water. the erractic action is just crazy, and it stays down better not not tend to rise as easily and the CrazyJig. bo

the head is a NuTech head and does the same thing for you by hooking in the roof of the mouth. with the head loose, it also makes it much harder for a bass to dislodge the hook. ever wonder why you hook so many bass in the side of the mouth with standard spinner baits? it is caused by the head design turning the hook flat as it comes out of the mouth. how many times what you think to be short strikes that the miss was because the hook came out of the mouth flat and did not hook anything? bo

See that is why I like the cloak of darkness😀. Bo

one of the easy ways to tell poisonous snakes is when they are on the water. poisonous snakes on water look as though they are on dry land. the float right on top of the water. non-poisonous snakes ride down in the water. bo

Pattern Mostly Holding Together on the Upper End

those bass sure do not show any signs that they have spawned. bo -
we are catching them in areas where there are lots of unseen submerged bushes, and do not have any trouble in casting a jig and coming through the bushes without getting hung up. and yes, the jig bite is pretty darn good. bo

you need to try a NuTech Black Widow SpinJig. i do not believe there is anything in the industry with the thump that comes off them, and it is because of the design of the wire frame and having a loose head. bo

one of the 3 lbers. was a brownie, and it was as fat as a tick. was showing the same water temps you mentioned. bo

could not take it any longer. the moon out and big was too much. left linda at home and went fishing. fished until 2:30am, and the catching was pretty darn good. had way more than a dozen keeps. 4 were in the 3 lb. class, but nothing bigger. caught as many or more shorts. a 1/2 GrassJig was the main weapon, but caught several on a 1/2 CrazyBlitz. bites were from 8 ft. to 20. most in the 12 to 15 ft. range. they were in groups and all on the same type of terrain. it did not appear to me that any of these bass had spawned. all were fat and slick with no signs of war. lots of big stuff floating out in the lake. bo

i know of a couple of people that have been catching quite a few on the GrassJig, and they have also been getting some on deep crankbaits. seems that points have been what have been working for them. the last time that i have been was right before the lake level blew up. just have been too busy trying to keep up with business, and grass mowing. now, i have linda on the list because she had knee replacement on tuesday, and i need to be around to help her get around and to be around in case she might fall. it will soon be too hot for me to enjoy day fishing, and night fishing will not be very good until the lake gets back down just a bit lower, and then there will be a limited number of places that will work after dark. miss being on the lake though. bo

dang good outing. bo

Caught a rainbow trout in the lake, how commons that?
merc1997 Bo replied to Lookin45get2's topic in Table Rock Lake
i've caught a number of them over the years and somewhat all over the lake. i've caught them on a plastic worm, a jig and chunk, a spinner bait, and a jerk bait. on bull shoals they are fun to catch fishing under the lights at night. bo -

goes to show that trout aren't as hard to catch as the trout'ers believe they are. sounds like they need to add some spinner baits the the tackle department at tim's and the roaring river store. bo -
that is why you have gps. bo
