i hear ya' on that one, but i am up working on orders that i should have been working on last night instead of fishing. bo

kind of got roped into fishing the friday nighter out of cambell point. guy calls and wants me to fish the friday nighter with him to teach him how to fish a jig. i kind of warded that question off by asking if he would have time to mow my mom's yard since her mower is still in the repair shop. he countered with i'll just bring a mower and leave it tomorrow and you can mow it. so, after that i felt somewhat obligated to repay the generosity. haven't been fishing for nearly two weeks, and not at all forever around cambell point. i did not see any need to make a big run. so, i just dinged around pretty close. most everyone went upstream and a few boats went down. so, we kind of had some water to ourselves. i put on a jig and fished for 5 bites. ended up 3rd and 2nd big bass - 15.14 / 5.36. 1st place had 16 and some change, and 1st big bass was 5.37. 32 boats showed up. barely paid expenses even with a 3rd place finish and 2nd big bass. i am retired again. well, there will be those times that i have to repay someone. bo

Ultrex vs Xi5 Minn Kota vs MotorGuide GPS Lock

unless they have changed, it is not how fast they turn after they get started, it is the lag time, that i never did like. maybe they got that part straightened out. bo -
Ultrex vs Xi5 Minn Kota vs MotorGuide GPS Lock

i am with you on the reliability of a minn kota. i have the first maxxum 65 that came out in around 1987. i finally replaced it with a new 70lb. the old one has never had one thing done to it, and still runs like new. the bracket is still tight because i mount my trollers dead center in line with the boat. this eliminates twisting the bracket every time you kick the troller on and off. there is not any telling how many thousand hours the old one has ran over the last 30 years. i will agree that the electric steer motors are still way too slow in response time. kind of like the old 4 cylinders trying to pass a car going up a hill. a little sketchy if you were going to make the pass safely. bo -

Table Rock BFL, Gentlemen start your engines!
merc1997 Bo replied to Mitch f's topic in Table Rock Lake
bill, i believe when he stated they shut down within 5', that is where they came off plane and most likely washed him up on the bank. that is the way i took the statement. regardless of who and what tourney they might have been fishing, that is very unsafe boating and not being courteous. if i am ever out during the day this time of the year over in the kings, it means lots of idling because of all the boats up and down the channel. it is way too narrow to be running up on plane by anybody, but there are many that do, sadly. bo -
bullshoalscat said it before me. the bigger bass have always seemed, at this time of the year, to be offshore during the day. i can not recall very many times that i won a day tournament this time of the year fishing bottom baits. a muddy lake would have been the exception. the rest of the time fishing off shore for suspended bass was always the key. as i have stated before, we still do not have the number of bass in the lake we had pre-fish kill, but we are slowly improving. just do not know if i will live long enough to ever see it get back there. searching with your electronics can aid in finding these suspended bass. however, at night things can change in your favor, because those suspended bass go over the bank and gorge up at night. clear water lakes are clear water lakes and the bigger bass tend to be more nocturnal in their feeding patterns. and many times, it is an all night affair to get them. anyway, this is exactly why when the water temps get back above 50, you rarely will find me daytime fishing. bo

The Big Bass Tournament folks did get them all
merc1997 Bo replied to merc1997 Bo's topic in Table Rock Lake
had other commitments for one thing. anymore, i just enjoy getting to go fishing when the opportunity is there. most of the year, that is at night while everyone is sleeping. the big bass tourney kind of proved what i have been saying. we have a decent population of 3 lb. to 4 lb. plus bass, and then after that they get a lot more scarce. sure nothing wrong with catching 3's and 4's though. bo -
i have not found anything very shallow either. same some big shad schools 30 to 40 feet deep last night. bo

very good idea dan. bo

sounds as though it is leaking before it gets there. bo

you are exactly right. but you do have to figure out where they moved to and re-positioned. most of the areas that i caught bass from are fairly clear now. however, there will some areas that are still fairly dirty, and one a good sunny day, which he have not had, can be so shallow, you would swear their back should have been out of the water. i would think there might be a fair amount of 4 to 5 lb. bass caught over the weekend in the big bass event, and it will be interesting what might be caught bigger than that. bo

you are probably looking at those that were caught on a CrazyBlitz, which is a bladed jig and you tie to the wire snap on the blade. i tie straight to a jig. bo

the only problem is that situation has already left. got to know when it is happening and where to go. bo
-
yes it still does as does the one in front. however, most graphs have a flasher you can put up on the screen and they are instantaneous reading just as a flasher is. bo
-
nope. trash was everywhere. we were fishing specific bottom topography. bo

49??? you are still just a pup. bo

forgot to mention that i have been catching everything on Iovino's zoner crankbait. if a wiggle wart catches them better, i have not been able to tell that it does. bo

thought maybe that was to fix the hole that was in it. bo

i fished up your way about a week ago and caught a bunch of short bass, but had two 4 to 5 lb. walleye. both walleye came off similar stuff. i followed the channel ends out into the lake to where there was about 4 to 5 feet of water on top of the roll off and it was a mud bottom. the edge needed to go quickly into 9 to 10 feet. you could most likely still run that same pattern for these staging walleye. bo
