  1. Josh has the right track in mind. That plan will get you started anytime except the spawn and refine it from there.
  2. http://www.mobass.com/content.php?145-Missouri-No-Cull-Rule This is better than I can explain it. Anything more, I would say to ask Joe Gettle.
  3. I toke the night off to have a party for my son that is leaving for basic training in a week. Next tourn'y the 12th. 4 fish limit now. Come on down and fish in the cool night air with us.

  5. Ok, I will start testing some when fishing. We will see how it goes. More bites from movement is always worth a try. Thanks guys.
  6. If you have the means, I would highly suggest the black light and florescent line. I fish ALOT at night and cant stand to be without it. Maybe im spoiled. It is not a must by no means and would not keep me from going, but if its availible, its worth the trouble.
  7. quill, dont think you can get more snag-less than a t-rig. Dont think the jika would be bad, but sure dont think it would be better.
  8. Didnt want to hijack anyone elses thread. Ok, finally found a nice way to set up a Jika rig. Owner hooks are to thick and to small of an eye. Used gammy's and works fine. BUT....I tank tested the rig after I built it as I have a 100 gallon aquarium filled with fish that are used to me scaring the begebes out of them. Almost every bait I used on it sank to the bottom. Worms, craws, salt craws, etc. In conclusion, unless you have a highy floating soft plastic, I believe the rig is no better than a texas rig. Im sure there are some baits out there that would "stand up" as they are suppose to do with the rig, but Nothing I use on a regular basis looked any different than the good old t-rig. And on top of that, the weight is tied to the hook so there is more chance for the fish to shake the hook. So, anyone have any better suggestions on making a better mouse trap. Always looking for a better presentation.
  9. Capefair can be good from the bank. either side of the bridge at bridgeport or right out on the end towards the posts. Or go to cape fair marina and park at the far west ramp. Walk past the ramp and keep going until you can hardly stand as it becomes a bluff. Start fishing.
  10. Shore Acres, thats my playground. First, try Point 7. Long bouy'ed point in the center of the bend towards kim. Dropshot out in 20 to 25 foot. Have a rod ready for fish busting. Next try the Norther most point of coney Island. Should be stacked with quantity fish. fish way out the point over the trees. For crappie....go somewhere else.
  11. Yep, cant catch them if you dont get them to bite. As we say, "Im going in".
  12. puke color can be awesome in the late spring, early summer.
  13. ya Bill, how much you charge for a follow boat?
  14. sk 6xd. mh parabolic 7'6" rod. 10lb floro. drag set low. roll offs and or cedars that top out around 16' deep so you can tickle it thru them. You need 5' vis or less to be effective from what I have found anyways. Deep water close, by that I mean within 60 yards or so.
  15. Lost 1st place (including the first place side pot) by the weight of a quarter. . But cant complain much, we have beat others by almost the same margin. Night bite is slow, very few bites at least where we were. Did find one 6lb and two 5's in the two nights but just a long time inbetween bites.

  17. +1 with dblades. I have over the years set brush for fishing. Sometimes they are there, sometimes not. But many of my friends that fish do the same thing. I have had permits to set brush twice now. I make sure to ask the corp what is allowed and where. Oh, and for Bill I dont set them out on the long run-off points.. . I believe that if you take the time to do all the hard work involved and it helps the cause, then more power to ya. If you dont want to do it, then fine but dont cry about guys that have done it.
  18. Theres a special place in H@#L for guys that cheat in a derby.
  19. Boys, im all for cheap as we can fish, but I do not thow the bs brand hooks anymore. 2 years ago they were on sale so I stocked up on 5/0's. I lost 4 "big" fish that really hurt our bags because of the points rolling. Im talking fresh hooks, brand new out of the pack. Set the hook, had them for seconds and gone. Each time the point was rolled real bad. Tested one, I can roll one pushing hard against my thumb nail. They are extremely sharp, but they are way way to long tapered pointed without having the temper to keep them straight. Believe I hit the "crushers" on those fish and thats what done it. That being said, I filed each point down to what I wanted and used them pre fishing. Now I dont have one to my name. A couple really hurt us in the standings I believe and I am saying this because I dont want anyone to loss a "fish of a lifetime" because they wanted to save 15 cents per hook. Ok ranting over, I will try some of the tips for the jika and see what happens.
  20. Tried making the jika at home. Cant get it right, if I use split rings that have enough room to let them move, they rub on the inside of the hook eye enough that they dont freely move. Dropped down in size of the split ring and the split ring is so tight it doesnt move freely again. Im getting frustrated. Maybe have to use something other than my owner hooks, but I love love the cutting edge.
  21. quill, try that rig earlier. Sure the bright skies killed it, but maybe you should have went deeper with it as thats what the fish probably done. what depth you throwning that c-rig and what type of banks?
  22. Have mine on still, had to replace them once as they had faded, but have never had anyone come by to say hi from them. Maybe glow in the dark ones would be better for me as its always dark out when I go...lol.
