  1. Thanks, I know that exact hole. I've caught lots of coon right there on that steep bank where the water runs into that bank.
  2. If I knew the exact hole of deep water, I could probably find the stuff that sunk. I spend a lot of my summer water metal detecting at tip over points on the rivers around here. Looking for all kinds of goodies. The half paddle sucks cause you and the person who find the other half will neither be able to use it.
  3. Happy Birthday and thank you for having such a great site and keeping it going all these years.
  4. Thank you, it's much appreciated. It never crossed my mind to search old topics. Thanks again.
  5. I've looked but haven't found any information. I have a 2.5 hp Mercury with a canoe. Are there any kind of restrictions anywhere on the North Fork of The White River? I'd like to be able to motor upstream and float back down to my takeout point.
  6. Shelvin Rock to Hootentown is no doubt the most floated section of the river. I'm on that section a lot and some days it rivals North Fork of White for the amount of people. The water is at a good level for floating right now. Hootentown down to Marble Grounds off V Hwy is a much better fishing float in my opinion.
  7. Around Bull Creek in Christian County MO has a good chance to spot a timber rattler. Also the same area has a decent amount of pygmy rattlers also.
  8. People and myself have been parking at the upper bridge for quite some time. It's not posted, even got checked by a game warden there years ago, with no problems about parking there. It's an easy walk from there. The other way would be much further and harder, but not impossible either. The hole you're talking to has been a popular spoonbill snagging spot for a long time.
  9. Wow, that's bizarre. To just break your foot while walking? Sorry to hear.
  10. Yum Yum, although tedious to clean, they are some of the best eating fish swimming around. congrats.
  11. Like he said the bridge on V highway is out between Galena and Marble Grounds/ Mudbank. You will have to back out to 160 Hwy to get to Galena. There are also a couple backroad ways to get to Galena if you can figure them out. You can definitely float that stretch. And you are correct about the water, it's probably sped up a bit compared to what I'm used to during mid summer time floats.
  12. Without looking it up you're probably right on mileage. On floating time, it usually takes me longer than that if I'm fishing. It's usually an all day trip for me. My 2 favorite fishing holes are on that stretch. It's a peaceful stretch because it's so long without any good access points on the upper stretch of it.
  13. Yum, Talk about a good find. I've only found a couple this year and neither were very fresh. At times, I think I like these better than the might morel!
  14. Nice report. Speaking of brown trout, me and my boy fished up by the dam last night off the bank. We caught a couple white bass and a handful of rainbows, but I had a monster and I mean big big brown trout follow my bait to the bank. It was huge and was exciting to see.
  15. Looks to me like they would make some good bait.
  16. Congrats, talk about luck of the draw. Just shows a monster can be caught literally anywhere. Sounds like it's been hiding out right under all those fishermens noses.
  17. I cannot remember, it's been a few years since I floated it and would hate to tell you a number. Surely someone else on here will be able to say. I do know it's an easy float without any obstructions. I'd say it'd be an all day float anyways.
  18. The stretch you're thinking of would probably be a decent float, you might even pick up some White Bass along the way. Also you could continue the float on down to Blunks if you had extra time. That stretch can also hold some real good fishing at times.
  19. I was up there on the warm water side 3 times with the flood gates. I saw lots of little baitfish swimming around a couple times. I bet everything has been eating good this last week. Fishing wasn't real great but the variety was wonderful. I fished the middle of the day during not so great hours. Caught lots of smallmouth, kentuckys, a couple largemouth, white bass, rainbows, 1 brown trout, goggle eye, and 1 nice walleye.
  20. What type of rig were you using to catch your fish?
  21. That's what I wanted to hear. I had a family wiener roast this evening that about killed me thinking about that warm water coming over, lol. Thanks.
  22. Does anybody have any idea on an estimate on how long these gates will be open?
  23. yum, that walleye looks nice
