  1. We all know Jimmy Houston kisses fish, wonder when that news will be breaking. Did anyone expect less from tiger? It will not make one dime of difference to me.
  2. AGFC stocked about 2000 Palmino trout. I posted something way back in Novemebr about them and my wife catching one... 6 generators on line today the real time phone said.
  3. Al said it right. Gilbert to Maumee is about a easy day float with fishing and in the summer July as you mentioned not a lot of floaters on Gilbert to Maumee run. Trust me you dont want to drag a a boat of any kind!! Been there done that way to many times. You could possibley float from Pruitt down depending on water but if its even a bit low yo will drag abunch.
  4. We have ate there a couple of times the past month. Very good food, fresh, good people. Italian Beef sandwich was good and the Gyros was also, wife said the speghetti is the best she has eaten.
  5. That company has been there a while, and they have closed down a couple other local plants to move them to Peurto Rica and Ireland. The job there seem stabile for now according the street talk. ALS on the other hand ran into a some difficulty so to speak last week.
  6. Sure they will eat them!!! Just tell me where you loose em! Husky Jerk in the largest size you can find works well in rainbow trout color. If I post pics of some of the fish I have caught it make the fly guys mad. So to keep fromgetting the hate mail fom some of them I will not post the pics. It is my understanding of reg changes that Feb 1 2010, if you remove the barbs from the hooks, you canuse them in the catch and release areas.
  7. Ranger Boats recently sold to a firm in California.
  8. We fished that area yesterday, caught 9 spotted bass the largest was 14". Deep crankbaits. Yellow perch colored. Saw a lot of other boats, over 10. The spots were about half way back in the coves. marked a lot of fish in 50-60 feet of water off main lake points. Several Bald eagles in the area. Water temp was 45F. Fishied from noon to about 4:00pm. jc
  9. At the COE office in MT HOme Wed. I overheard that they were going to also dump Table Rock. in the attempt to maintain the White River at top of pool at Newport. as long as the rain does not raise the river out of the banks at Clarendon AR.
  10. No difference in flavor of fish from Crooked Creek. Remember CC dumps into White River some 7 miles up river from Buffalo City. Marshal, St Joe, Jasper and many more city sewer systems dumo into BUffalo one way or another. I think the worst problem is turkey farms. Just look for worms in the fish. They say if the fish is cooked there is no harm, but why take a chance. Look at the cities that dump stuff into Whtie River, from Fayettville on down!!
  11. COE Mt Home AR, is currently issuing permits for fish cover on Bull Shoals lake. Only 50 permits will be issued. POC is Ty Fowler at the MT Home office... Y ou must mark the location on a map Ty has. Max. 6 trees may be sunk. Anchors must be native rock fromt he shore. 16 gauge wire is rewuire to anchor the trees, (NO ROPE. The PERMIT MUST BE WITH YOU WHEN CUTTING TREES. No tree more than 150 feet from shore at 654 MSL. No trees within 250 feet of any boat dock maybe cut. Tree no larger than 6 inches dia. No more than 6 trees. All trees must be EASTERN RED CEDAR. No trees may be cut in areas marked in red on the map. No permits were issued yet for upper Bull Shoals as of yesterday.
  12. What guns I dont have any guns do you?
  13. No shad yet, which is suprising with the low temps last week.
  14. Whodat, What has stocking of stripers got to do with the pothole? Look up where the Missouri State record stiper was caught a coupel years back. and thenumbers of large walleye that have been caught there!! Lots of large stripers from that area.
  15. The only meeting is going to be in Little Rock. Seems they dont want input. They seldom do much announcing when and where the meetings will be, then ignore what the people said.
  16. Its a hard call. I feel that yea whales have in the past been over harvested, but what has not? But I also thing the Antis are to showboaty. If you are going to attack someone you better able to take the punch and if you keep kicking the hornets nest you are going to get stinged.. Crew of the Sea Shepard is doing what could be called an Act of Piracy Piracy From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Jump to: navigation, search This article is about maritime piracy. For the term referring to copyright infringement or other uses of "piracy" or "pirate", see Pirate (disambiguation). Piracy is a war-like act committed by private parties (not affiliated with any government) that engaged in acts of robbery and/or criminal violence at sea. The term can include acts committed in other major bodies of water or on a shore. It does not normally include crimes committed against persons traveling on the same vessel as the actor (e.g. one passenger stealing from others on the same vessel). The term has been used to refer to raids across land borders by non-state actors.
  17. I am going to learn to catch stripers this year. Santa brought me one down rigger and I bought a second. Funny thing I had a fellow walk intot he shop this week and ask if I was interested in buying a tackle box, his stepdad had passed away. I looked at the box. Full of large striper lures, eels, spoons terminal tackle. You bet I took the deal. Yep we are going to learn striper fishing this year.
  18. Driving down roads and shooting deer is the glue that holds Ozarkers (true Ozarkers) together. No seriously what good is gigging? I dont know of anyone in Arkansas that gigs anymore, finally stopped that, finally stopped the deer runnig with dogs. Noone makes the big family deer hunting drives, you know 10 people walking toward a couple of hunters moving deer their way.
  19. I saw Bull Shoals frozen over at Tucker Hollow one time many many years ago. When before Bernie bought the dock. Even Lead Hill was frozen over. Dableduck (famous outdoor BSer) went out on some coves Ice fishing. About 10 years ago white River froze over below Batesville. But above all else I would not trust the ice.
  20. Thats why I will stick to the boat Ihave, its paid for, I can afford repairs when needed. I can add all the fancy fish finders. and above all have more time on the water and it just cost gas and oil!!! Sure its not the fastest boat on the lake on a good day it will hit 50mph. But it sure catchs just as many fish as any other boat at any price. For me its fine. I dont need a big assed boat with a big assed payment. 70 Grand??? Thats more than I paid for 20 acres.
  21. Check MO DNR website. Most states post who is licensed to buy furs.
  22. Glad is good for you. One more day to fish GERD, heartburn Hiatel hernia. Yep I have lost friends to it. I had the surgery and have other problems. So I am here and hopefully will be here a while longer, to much water left I have not fished!
  23. Bear Creek In boone county Ar. has filled with gravel. holes that were 15 feet deep years ago are not full of gravel. same for crooked creek.. I have seen the streams go down hill since I was a kid in the early 1970's even Liitle sac had good smallie fishing in the 1970s now its not even a creek int he same places. Water goes underground and that sure does nothing for the fish.
  24. These DWI checkpoints really piss me off, and I kinda like not having Big Brother breathing down my neck while I'm doing what I enjoy the most.
  25. I dont think its a great or even good thing. the slab certain makes anice long hole that holds good fish, above the slab. Below the slab it also makes a great habiatat that is filled with Smallies and some Largemouth. I know most people think stopping the hauling of gravel out of t he creek was a good thing, but I dont. There are a lot of holes than have filled in and nolonger hold fish, little water and its just not as clear as it use to be. So maybe the slab should be left, makes a very good handicapped access.
