So the # 6 crappie hook we use is wrong, and the fact we use three eggs to float one or two gulp is wrong too. Oh waqit we just catch the mentally handicapped trout. One of the best days trout fishing I have ever had I had gasoline on my hands really bad.

Well Now Pilgrim, I think maybe a little vilgilante justicve may be forth commin. The rustlers are using dogs to round the cattle up with. they pull into the field and pull up along side a fence, turn the dogs out and they go after the cattle, while the two ruslters are setting up two cattle panels. The dogs push the cows down the fence and into the trailer. Takes all of 10 minutes to get a trailer load of cattle. Sad but true, it went on down here for several years, I knew who was stealing the cattle but the SO would not work on them. Finally someone caught the man and beat him to within an inch of his life, the man laid in St Johns for several months and is now confined to a wheel chair, severe brain bleeding. He got what he had comming. The farmers need to put game cams up that use infrared light instead of flash. Although a flash woould scare the crap out of them. Dallas county has had the problem for years, maybe time to start branding cattle again.

The yellow perch were shipped in from a grower in Indiana, to Bass Pro Shop holding tank in the warehouse and one of the former employees released them. AGFC ordered some fish from the same breeder for testing. DNA test determined this. So far the yellow perch seems to have filled a void in the eco system in Bull Shoals Lake. Al Linder fished with a now decesed fellow several years ago and caught some huge fish, I watched the video tape back in the 1990s. We already have all those people from up north, have you been around the towns of Bull Shoals, Lakeview and Mt HOME????? Many even bring leacvhes with them only to findout leaches dont work well here. Not a natural food source here. Troll the main channel from K dock on up with a purple back chrome hot and tot or wiggle wart. Dont worry about speed, use nomore than 8 pound line and the lure can bump the bottom in 20 feet of water. I use the 90hp motor and any agreesive walleye will take the lure. Year before last we caught 35 walleye in three early evenings of trolling largest was 7 1/2 lbs then a 6 and a 5 several sveral shorts.

Yep thats how I fish a lot.

Two years until you see a dramatic jump in the average size. AGFC meeting last year. Now with that being said, the numbers of small browns may well drop do to Brown trout cannibalism. It has been noted in other trophy waters that this can happen. Should year class numbers start falling off the size limit will be lowered to 20". so for now its wait and see.

Pic from last year. We fish often, this day we went out and hit the river putting in at Norfork and running way up river the water was high Used deep diving large lures caught five fish that day between three of us and they were nice large browns. Here a pic from 2007. Here is my son with a brown we released. cold that day but the fish dont care. Here is a huge rainbow caught by the Norfork bridge the day they opened the flood gates in 2008. In the high water she took a huge stick bait, made a run under a picnic table and around a tree. 8# Vanish in the swift water. Watson set the way back machine for 1979, Bull Shoal lake.

I headed out Staurday solo, it was a bit cold and the aluminum boat a bit light in the fron t end with the wind. I htrew some of my favorite large lures all day, caught a bucnh of fish 2 generators were on they said. Caught some small browns 6-9" yea I said they were small, lots of rainbows some really fat. Seems theother six boats were not catching much, one young guide humbled himself to come over and findout what I was using, which the most productive lure was a CD-3 rapala over the shoals. I showed him and he ask if I had any extra, I said yes, he ask how much? I said will let's see time and pace should have a lot to do with price, right? he just dropped hs head lower. so I said you got $10.00? we made the deal and I headed on down river. Fishing slowed really slow about 3 PM and I was trying different lures and techniques and in the shoal about Stetsons I hung what I thought was going to be a thumper brown, it headed down stream and I went with it then it settled into the hole across from Stetsons, I worked it and the clouds made the water dark I could see a flash once in a while but it was just really really heavy. I could see the big flash and not wanting to pressure the fish. 6# test line and a light action rod, I just played it as gently as I could. had to work the motor and it was a pretty good challenge, I finally got the fish up for a good look and its was a walleye!!! 28 inches long 17 inch girth. Yes I kept it, I cannot ressit a mess of walleye!!!!! I thought as I headed to the shop in Flippin, do I mold this fish for reproductions or do a skin mount. Hum if I mold it I loose the meat. " I guess I am just a fish lover, I skinned it and we had fresh waleye fillets the fish had a belly full of eggs and we had almost 4 pounds of fillets. Seldom do I put my animals in front of customers for mounting but since I dont have a walleye on the wall I figured this time She comes first!!! So its mounted and drying. Since the river is mainly for trout I also figured you die hard fly fisherman would certainly want the trout eater out of the river!!!!

Old Faithfull has been stopped now for about four weeks. In 2002 I went thru the wild west and have an awesome video I tookof Old Faithfull. Temors ssw of Clinton AR last week one near here was a 2. noone felt it. they said somewhere between Cave Creek and Snowball. -
Russ will be down next week to work on the fish. He really is good guy with a big heart, I dont think I could deal with hualing the handicapped kids across states to hunt. These kids are terminally ill and that takes extra time, all I can do to take care of myself let alone the kids with problems. I will try to remember to take the camera and show you how the work goes, once mounted and parts molded and made he will take it home to dry and assmble and he will do all the painting there. I am going to try to get him to change gloss coats, the one I use is an automotive gloss and has UVA/UVB filters so the colors never fade. Later. John

Jay bird Hold off a week, I think Russ (Visions of Wildlife Taxidermy) may came down with your fish. I have been in contact with your taxidermist Russ and offered to guide him through doing your fish. Matter of fact now that I know it's Russ two weeks ago we talked about him comeing down and me guiding him thru it. I did recommed he cast the head and fins and it will help the mount last forever. He is a Member of a select group that they we more experienced taxidermist will help. Kind of like the pyramid some of us up the chain will help good people down below to improve their work, plus he was in Somalia the sametime I was so he is part of the brotherhood. I know he has been busy with some disabled kids in Hunt of a Lifetime last week. http://www.taxidermy.net/wtc05/wtcseminars.html Here is my class at the 2005 World taxidermy Championships Thursday Morning WTC Seminars 8:00 -- 11:00 a.m. Seminar #9 Molding Fish Parts: JOHN CREAGER This award winning taxidermist from Arkansas will actually mold and reproduce fish parts in this seminar. He will also show how these molds can cut down the time needed for modeling and sculpting in the finishing process. These techniques are for both competition and commercial fish. I also taught in 2003 a bass pedistal mount siminar. Anyway I will see if Russ is going to bring the fish down. Just hold off calling him a bit. I did not realize it was Russ as there are a couple more taxis near cassville. JOhn 870-453-7702

I have been mounting fish since 1977. At first we only reproduced trout heads, now many times we do the whole fish. I say we, but not all taxidermist have the same skill levels. Dont have the same knowledge. Many buy a head and then you have to deal with it really not fitting and thats ok but it takes time to make it work too. I have been molding fish and fish heads, fins since the mid to early 1980's. While I can do a skin mount head on a large striper and I know it will never bleed grease, it is not quit as accruate as a head I would reproduce. The mold is made after removing all slime, th emold is made of silicone rubber thats pretty pricey unless you buy it in bulk like I do. to do a single fish the mold will cost $50.$60.00 just the head now. Fin molds are made of a resin much like fiberglass resin. and then the fins are laid up just like a boat would be. Why fins? fins are fleshy and they will shrink and curl if not carefull. a reproduced fins is forever. Same with an well molded head. The body should be carved, a commercial body never fits the skin, its not molded from that skin so you spend as much time modlifing a commercial bought body as you would carving a body. If the taxidermist has not done many large fish they will have tons and tons of trouble, they have to learn somewhere and its your fish they are learning on. http://s264.photobucket.com/albums/ii177/Johns_fish/ cruise thru my pages if you need more answers I will handle that. The laergest striper I have done is 57 + lbs and it had the real head and never had grease or oil bleed. I have a sayin gif you don't remove it its a bug buffet. for years many of us have replaced trout head and the rebuilding of trout haeads is now a pretty much lost skill, some beginners will try but the end result dont look like a trout head. Today I cast a trout head with a new material first time moldin git and castin git, its pretty good has every detail the real head had, like I said its a new product in developement and I am doing the field testing for the maker. Good luck JOhn

Thanks, its on a form I sculpted, using measurements and the skull, used a Plastiline sculpting clay do the finish work, pulled a two piece fiber glass mold from the clay model, waxed the mold well very well and poured the foam. Took me three pours to get the first form. The Dad brought it in totally covered in blood had to wash it three times to get it clean once clean it shined up super. Very healthy deer and no rubs onthe brisket or anywhere.

It was pretty small I was using a rainbow trout painted lure about 4 1/2 long and the 6 inch brookie female hit it. Caught 13 browns from 5 inches to 19 inches: and some really fat rainbows one was awesome in color super bright green colored fish with a awesome pink and red stripe down its side. Biggest bow was about 2 pounds. Had 27 fish in all.. The last couple hours the water was dropping ans they developed lockjaw, but it was about 4 pm. Only 5 other boats on the river from Whitehole to the dam.

Thanks, she is tickled to death. She has called everyday and said "Thank you so much." That is almost worth mounting at no charge. Made a sweet girl one those "friends forever." she says. The panel is made by me friend its of Ash, talk about hard to drill thru!!
