  1. Wow, what a great story Rich. Gave me chicken skin (goosebumps). Thanks for sharing.
  2. What a killer report Ducky! Now I'm totally jonesin'.......
  3. Well Bill, that just about covers everything I was going to ask about our trip May 10-19. Thanks a million. Guess its time to lay down some serious jack on some "supplies".
  4. Well, if the single white male gets anything back,( last time they did something silly like this I got $27. Whoo hooo!) I plan on using it to fund 10 days of vacation in May. Bennett Springs for a few hours the first day, head to Springfield, drink some beers with some old friends, crash. Head to Baxter at Table Rock, set up camp. Rent a pontoon and cruise on the TRL, bass fish. Hit Taney a few times. Spend a day at Roaring River, and whatever else strikes our fancy. Rebate check or not, its been on the books for months. Does this count?
  5. Dano, I grew up just across the interstate from Kirkwood and the Meacham Park area.... they used to cross the interstate on foot and rob houses and shoot people.... don't even get me started on this....
  6. Dance like it hurts, Love like you need money, Work when people are watching. Scott Adams (1957 - ), The Way of the Weasel
  7. Oh GK, did you have to throw that out there?
  8. That, Gavin my friend is exactly the reason for my inquiry.....
  9. Has anyone hit Busch Wildlife lately or any of the STL area lakes?
  10. I was sitting on the little wooden bridge re-rigging after a nice 'bow had broke me off and that very same guy hit me in the leg with his roostertail. I didn't look at him, my 1000 mile stare is deadly. He didn't say sorry, oops, apologize, tell me to go to he!! or nuthin. Such nice people you meet along the road of life. Luckily, types like him are few and far between for me. Oh, yeah, and while I was re-rigging, I did look down in the water and lo and behold, the one that broke me off is swimming around with my fly neatly stuck in the corner of his mouth like nothing happened. Had half a mind to dive in and alligator wrestle him to the bank. Probably would have offended the guy that hit me with his roostertail though.
  11. John, everytime I read one of your reports all I can think is....... "that lucky dog...." both you and your pup. Thanks for letting us live vicariously through you.
  12. I totally agree with JJ and Dano. Sure you may have to layer in the cold months, you probably do that anyway, but wearing shorts in them in August is a real treat. To me, they are just more all-around comfortable, and way easier to get out of in the summer and winter too for that matter. I don't even own neoprenes any more.
  13. Whoa! I thought I was good getting 250k out of my 89 Silverado.... of course, she didn't get a tune up every 3k either.
  14. A couple of buddies and myself are heading down in the morning.... anyone else?
  15. Has anyone else gotten this e-mail. My buddy Charles sent this to me. He is a good ol boy but very "net savvy". The e-mail says..... "Here is a photo of a cougar killed in steeleville, mo. the guy who shot it is 6 foot tall and weighs about 220 lbs. he was in a deer stand and saw the cat pass him downwind. he then saw it pass him upwind. When the cat passed him again (closer this time) downwind, he knew that it was hunting him?so, boom. After viewing this, do you still feel safe in the woods?" I think I'm calling BS... care to vote?
  16. Well, I for one, would rent it.... as long as I can bring my "captain". Whatyya think SF?
  17. Thanks for the update. Oh how I miss BSSP.... I must visit her again.... soon!
  18. Hey Flyfshn, great to meet you too! Tough day of catching, but a killer day of fishing. Nice! Anyone else have their own personal photographer? Actually, she's my girlfriend... so she useful for things other than taking pictures. Not to mention, the more she is behind the camera, the less likely it is that she out-fishes me. Too bad I didn't have some fish for her to take pictures of....
  19. Anyone else remember the days when fishing was fun? In a group, solo, talking to strangers, making a new friend, learning a new trick, sharing a story, having a laugh? We were all outside weren't we? This "magic box" has corrupted us all.... Now let's all play nice and get back on the water.... where we all long to be.... Everyone here is great in their own way.... now let's move on to the fish speak.
  20. Trav..... a legend in his own mind....
  21. I'll be there 'tween just before the horn and 0900hrs. Depends on if my little photographer buddy is in tow...
  22. Honey-dos are done. Except the studio stuff, that can be done at night, anytime. I may have to drop a tree at the rental house but I can tend to that on Saturday. Anyone else going to be down that way Sunday the 27th?
  23. I know! I was jonesin'.... almost to the point where I thought that maybe OAF was a figment of my twisted imagination. Whew! Glad y'all are back!
  24. Nice SF, great report! Way better than doing honey-dos.... Where we going next weekend?
  25. One heck of shot there Gavin... nice. Oh yeah Gavin, almost forgot... Happy Birthday to the King
