  1. Like Muddy, I have both. My 9.9 has been "adapted" to be a 15. I love the jet in low water, but to go up Crooked Creek or Buffalo need the 9.9. Wrench's point about weight is very valid. Two strokes are lighter, I see a 9.9 Mariner for sale in the site. Tried my 5 hp. had to drive a stake to see if I was moving with 3 on.
  2. Got my fever up....
  3. Have had numerous warnings, if you are NOT drunk, pleasant and honestly stupid, he will give you a break (forest service and park ranger not Arkansas game and ticket everyone)
  4. Darn I hate to agree with Smallie on anything, but that is great. (Smallie, been giggin a few times, Smallies seem a bit small and thin, but numbers seem fair, not a gig mark seen before or after, but if the creek gets much lower the eagles will have them.) Tight lines. g
  5. Thanks for the insight, I would love to run my jet up the Buffalo, but the ranger gave me a warning ticket, a little above razorback... So I bought a longshaft 9.9 to run.
  6. 9 Has the Ranger not stopped you on the Buffalo and explained the 10 hp limit?(with his shawnee with 25 hp jet)
  7. Like wrench I just get one up and pull it apart and take to the local O'Rileys they can measure or get numbers off of. Worse case you will have to wait until the next day to get part. One thing I will point out is that they cary several brands of parts. I am familiar with the local guys and they take care to get me the best quality for price. One time a kid was selling me the first one he came to on a seal, for $17 questioned him, the only one on the shelf, had to wait the next morning for the $10 one... Also suggest getting a third one, carry in the toolbox of truck, had to change one once away from home much easier when you have the right parts. Also seen this: g
  8. That is Great, enjoy!
  9. Go with the rated motor, a 150 at 2/3 throttle uses less fuel than a 115 at full in my experience. Plus you have the extra power if you get in a storm or have an emergency. In my shed have 1 tracker, 2 lowe, 2 champion in various lenghts and designs. Very pleased with all and are at max rated horsepower. You would not play golf with one club. My 2 cents.
  10. Dad gum, You the man Brad. I am jealous, but will get out there soon. Thanks for the report. g
  11. Thanks Chris, Merry Christmas g
  12. It is nice that I now drive a truck, for years people did not understand why I had an ironing board bungeed to the top of my suburban....
  13. I carry a ironing board in the back of the truck that has a plastic board on, plus a bucket for the remains and bags electric knife. Ironing board saves my back, garage sale specials. (it would frighten my kids if the wife set up a ironing board in the house, they have never seen one used for ironing)
  14. Have used the gflex, good stuff no Great stuff. But plan on trying some of the plast aid as it can do some things g flex can not as gflex is a epoxy. molding parts interests me
  15. From Cabela's site: The MotorGuide® Wireless Bow Mount Motor – W55, item IK-018306, requires two AA batteries to operate the wireless foot pedal.

  18. Gavin I have a set of gunnels cut from white ash from a mad river we redid a few years back, Likely I will not be in St. Louis area until Oct. 6 though, Wife says we are skipping the Vandy game for nephews wedding..... I say the boy otta be smarter than schedule a wedding on a home game weekend...
  19. Have not tried the self adh. but may be worth a try. I have used a epoxy called Gflex it works wonderfully, for the foam exposed used the gflex mixed with silca sand made a paste worked great. But I still covered with kevlar skid plate (used the gflex for that also) so far no complaints. google gflex, the best place I have found to purchase is Jamestown Distrib. as they often run free shipping.... If you try the self adh. let us know how it works. g
  20. Have many of the same issues listed, I have went to Straight Talk, through the website, got a sim card from them, have one ATT phone I converted and one Verizon converted, they each cost 30 per month unlimited talk and text, (45 if you want data) so for $60 a month have coverage most everywhere.... seems one or the other usually work on the river, as they are using the parent towers, cust service is in the Philipines....which was the only reason my Att agent could give me to stay with them, no contract so actually little risk in trying for a month,
  21. I would suggest either renting from someone, such as Justin who has both. Or visiting Ozark Mt. Trading Company in Ozark, MO or Garfield, Ar. They often have demo days, and want you in the right boat. My last trip to Garfield I tested several, came home with a canoe, have a SOT Kayak on my wish list. But they want to make sure you are happy. http://springfield.craigslist.org/bod/3107437136.html A friend purchased from: http://www.riverjim.com/ have not delt with him but hear nice things. Bottom line, try before you buy, I have purchased several on recommendations good intentioned, but just was not happy, wasted lots of money trading.
  22. I know who gets stuck on oars, that is why I do not own one.... but they are swell to fish out of if you can find some sucker to row.
  23. Buzzbait Fisherman? Key word "Paddled" not fished and camped. Sounds perfect, I am jealous.
  24. Put in at Mountian Creek Below Prosperine Access Tuesday morning, took out Thursday night at the Tunnel Dam access. Very little dragging, no portage. Couple of SM just over 20", lots 12-14" most on a weightless pearl fluke, few on small hula grub, none on chug bug or poppers. We had 2 canoes and 1 17ft paddle john luckly with a 4 hp outboard, that is a long trip accross Lake Niangua. We picked up way too many cans and trash. g
  25. Brad, You are the man. We went yesterday afternoon for about 5 hrs. Fished trees, brush, 6 to 25 ft. jigs, minnows. Only 5 keeps, several shorts. We fished near the dam basically Hermitage SP to Wheatland ramp. But it was a Beautiful day, good day fishing bad day catching.
