  1. Gator, would trailer the boat and launch at Rockaway or Ozark Beach near the dam above Forsyth. My suggestion for that time of year would be Rockaway, run back up the lake, take first right and fish Bull Creek from the mouth up to where it narrows, there is a large flat before it narrows to a creek, you will be able to jet up the creek, but that time of year will be packed with sucker grabbers until May 15,
  2. Look at John Berry's reports, John, Gary Flippin and Davy Wooten are Masters of fishing the water with Fly Rods, no matter what CFS, it is a bit tricky, using the correct set ups and correct weight. I have lived in this drainage all of my life and have to say these Gentlemen(possibly loose use of the term should have used fishermen) are the best, you can fish fly rods and weight to achieve the correct drift. You can do yourself a favor and hire them as guides, but they will all share more information than most can understand.
  3. Good for you, get out there and enjoy.
  4. Will try to post pictures over the weekend, Old Town Discovery 158 floated very little, stored indoors, take $550 update SOLD
  5. Not sure where you are located, by your listing assuming Kansas. I am just west of Springfield and have a 2009 Old Town Pack that has been floated very little and always stored indoors when not in use. The only flaw are the skid plates I put on last fall, while very functional, they are not pretty. My bright idea to use layers of Kevlar cloth rather than one strip of Kevlar felt turned out a good skid plate that is not very pretty. The boat is very light, it has a few scratches but has only been floated 4-5 times. Not sure where to price it fair, I paid 900 plus tax. Think I could live with $600. I am 5'10" 250, getting older and slower every day, it is just not a good fit for me. PM if interested can try to get some pictures up. g Should note it is the Pack Angler with the lowered seat, work deck rod holder and anchor.
  6. Offered to buy my wife one of those hats!
  7. Thanks Mitch, I have a mold that I use a with a plug for glue in guards, think I can dremmel a holder to split the wires. Looking for the bass with lips like those dowels. g
  8. Al or Mitch where do I get these double wire weed guards? While I am not nearly as good of tyer as most of you guys I find the fish are not used to perfect food and they work, wish I was as good, just keep tying and practicing. Would like to tie some up if I can get the guards. Thanks
  9. I think the welding shop at Whiteville AR (between Midway and Cotter) may have some, they buy scrap rail and weld a piece of rebarb for an eye, good boat anchors as they will sit flat on the floor not rolling around. Might call Rim Shoals, Davey Wooten or John Berry as they would likely know.
  10. as you can see from the picture I am not as detailed as the following link, I simply wrap some thread usually red and do the glue thing, use a mini glue gun, takes some practice to get good eggs. But works for me. I use the water more...
  11. To my knowledge, the elk hair is natural, you use a black hackle rather than ginger, with a tan or olive body. I personally have not had much luck with the black in the Ozarks. Out west it is killer around Jackson Hole. But on a cloudy day I would think it should work. But I am no expert.
  12. I quit reading Mr. Dablemont many years ago after one of his articles in the Springfield News-Leader on how not many people grabbed suckers anymore like his Grandpa had taught him. He had just returned from a trip on the Pommde River over Memorial Day Weekend and " had got a limit " in short order and was surprised no one else was "grabbing". The problem I have is that "snagging season" has closed on May 15 as long as I can remember. Figured if Mr. Dablemont would "grab in season" he might see a few more folks participating..... While I think that Mr. Dablemont is a gifted writer, he might be better served in some area other than the outdoors.
  13. I have made egg patterns with hot glue and it is TUFF. Do not know about foam and hot glue
  14. I have a disco 15'8" in very good shape not sure where to price it, when I first seen the post I was interested in the mohawk, but at 5'10" 250 by the time I added fishing gear and a cooler about maxed. Have heard good things about the Wenonah Vagabond solo canoe but not sure on weight limits. Currently have a pack that is a bit small for my uses Wife says I need to sell before I buy.....
  15. Thanks, do you use a spray adhesive or ??? to glue sheets? I am thinking gluing 3 layers then cut in 1/4" strips and cut down/shape frome there?
  16. Any tips on making the hopper bodies, do you glue sheets together then cut or????
  17. Have not been in about a year, usually my March area..... sorry
  18. BBC Humminbird fourm and Doug Vahrenburg, are the best resources I have found also.
  19. The upper river was up a bit with some color but basically clear. HOWEVER, the MDC was moving gravel etc. which made pretty much color by 3 pm. They were removing gravel from the creek that runs in just above the wading/flyfish area. and in the park at the top end of wading moving earth , not sure what all was happening but colored water was the result. That said a bead head olive woolie would still catch fish. g
  20. Thanks for the report, if I get my boat back together will try myself.
  21. I have not been on it, however, one of my buddies has floated it, and did very well. Will try to get you his input. Only negitive was lots of paddling to get out......fishing was excellent.
  22. Thats why I had a cheap key made to just unlock the door hidden in one of those magnet deals on my Chevy, came in handy a few times.
  23. Maybe I missed it but Chief have you contacted Missouri Attorney General Cris Koster? County prosuecutors have been removed from office for failing to enforce the law. http://ago.mo.gov/ At mininum I would file the complaint form.

    Big Browns

Might add many drown every year, it is not forgiving in high water....Hire a guide, call Rim Shoals 870-435-6144 he will hook you up with what you need. g
  25. That is right1 3700. It is real nice for tackle storage. I missed it with my bass cat, so I puchased a file folder holder at some office supply and mounted in storage boxes and they also hold 3700's.
