  1. Scott, good points. However, I have not asked for a refund or a compensation. I am willing to take my loss and make it good myself. I had not had a transducer mount on a Terrova before. I did not know the channel was there specifically for transducer cables. I saw a cable tie at the top and at the bottom with the cable outside of the mechanism. The first time I deployed the trolling motor, the cable got pinched by the locking mechanism. It took me quite a while to figure out how to unlock the mechanism without parting the cable. The second time I put the trolling motor down, I set the spot lock to cast. The mechanism put tension on the cable and it parted at the crimped place. I figure they deserve the bad press and the tip on how to fix it for the future. If I wanted something, your advice would be the way to go.
  2. They work, as do Bombers and Hellbenders.

    What's Cooking?

I have posted about tonight's dish before: Scroll down in the article for the picture. The fish tonight is walleye and shrimp, but any fish or water creature would do ... except maybe oysters and squid.
  4. Wonderful!
  5. Good question, Ham. I did not. My belief is that children and volunteers get second chances. Now, if they reach out to me and offer to make things right, I will happily report that and sing muted praises.
  6. The following is the text of the email I just sent Wolfe Boatworks in Rogers Arkansas. I was a recent customer of yours. I had you maintain my Etec engine, install a new Lowrance HDS 10, and move my Humminbird si sonar to my trolling motor. I gladly paid your premium prices because I was confident you would do a professional and competent job. I was wrong. Your install of the Humminbird on my trolling motor promptly severed my transducer cord within the first hour after your install. This will require me to buy a new transducer at the price of $200 dollars and will force me to find someone to help me install it properly or do it for me. By the way, when I came in off the lake, I did a Google search on installing the transducer properly to avoid what you caused. I found any number of Youtube videos. The attached link is one you can show your staff to avoid causing this problem for other people in the future. Needless to say, I will not be a repeat customer. Furthermore I will report on this experience and your services on the OzarkAnglers forums. Thousands of highend fishermen and guides belong to that forum and it receives thousands of hits daily. Perhaps I can help them avoid the same problems you have caused me. Sincerely, Randolph Stainer You can imagine my Angies list review.
  7. I was on the water long enough to find 63 degrees in the Leatherwood cove and hear a report that because of generation, the water temp up river is much lower, in the 40's. The water color is green with 2 foot visibility. The water surface is cluttered - all the meat fishermen in the world are out and about.

    What's Cooking?

Pizza pictures are boring. Instead I will tell you. Tonight our Friday Night Is Pizza Night special will be spinach/artichoke/garlic white pizza on Nancy's home made crust, finished with a 5 cheese topping. Eat your hearts out.
  9. Tomorrow, April 11, I go to pick up my boat. I have had it at Wolfe Boatworks in Rogers for the last warranty required authorized maintenance. By the time the motor is due for its next 300 hour "check up and service" the six year warranty will have expired. While it was there I had the Hummingbird SI unit moved to the troll motor and the new Gen 2 HDS 10 Lowrance with side scan installed on its own mount at the transom. That means I will be ready to enjoy this year's Spring bite AND learn the new sonar. Starting Sunday. I am so looking forward to this. If I weren't older and worldly, I probably wouldn't sleep well tonight. I know all of you are laughing at my boyish attitude, but I know you, deep down, understand exactly what I mean.

    Finally

    Well done Terry!

  12. Once we have comfortable weather (now) I switch to an inflatable. I wear a PFD 100% of the time in my boat. I do not swim worth ... I nearly failed to graduate from college because of the 100 yard swimming requirement left over from the Lusitania days. If it doesn't work, it was fate. In the mean time, I have one on.
  13. ^ That is gold mine information, although I am NOT a flouro fan. I say YoZuri copolymer.

    Here is tonight:

    What's Cooking?

Tonight I picked up a rotisserie chicken. I stripped the breast off and diced it. Then I made a peanut sauce that included large amounts of fresh ginger and garlic, sesame oil, rice vinegar, sriracha, soy sauce, and peanut butter. I thinned it a bit with water and lime juice. I will use the sauce to coat cooked and chilled soma noodles and drizzle over the chicken, cucumber, carrot, sweet pepper, mushroom, and green onion I will stack on the noodles. Under the noodles I will have fresh leaves. On top of everything, I will garnish with chopped roasted peanuts. The man is insane! Is there no end to the flavors? Picture coming later.
  19. While that is theoretically possible, I have only had it happen twice despite years of fishing light line (4 to 6 pound) on trout casters. Those trout casters are what made me sure I could build a Ned rig casting rod.
  20. Ham, I don't hate nano. I disliked using a leader and I disliked the spinning rod approach. I found it had a tendency to jump off the reel, even when correctly spooled on. All of these factors contributed to my building the casting rod for the Ned. dtrs5kprs, I put my Revo MGX on the rod and with 6 pound line I can routinely throw 75 feet with the 1/16th ounce head. I should get my boat back this week and pln to fish this coming weekend. I am looking forward to it.
  21. I tried nanofil with a leader and I tried braid with and without a leader. I quit each and use 6 pound YoZuri. Life is simpler now.
