  1. That is funny. I didn't think it would sink in like that. But I always heard that from my dad and I am now saying that to Dylan. I guess that is why I may seem so focused. And I thought I was having a great relaxzing day. Thanks for the kind words. But it was you that did all of the work. I just handled the canoe. Now you are going to ruin my reputation. BRBF- thanks for the compliment.
  2. Thanks again to all of you for all of your kind comments. I am glad all of you enjoyed viewing the pictures as much as we enjoyed making them. I was really a great, fun day. Wheatie - Cat's?? Really?? We are going to have to schedule another therapy session. We are just not quite making a full connection with your Y Chromosome.
  3. Yeah eric it does have a little color to it. A good color. Some of the larger, for the area, rivers do have some color due to the fact that they run more on the edge of the Ozarks and pick up lots of nutrients and such along the way. Also there is a lot of mud banks like associated with prairie type streams even though they are also full of gravel like those of the deeper Ozarks. That is one reason I really like fishing these streams on the edge. We have the great water of a Ozark stream but with a lower gradient. That provides the great pools and pockest of water that produce really nice bass. I would really like for you to make a trip over here someday. I think you may really like it.
  4. What great day of fun this was. We had lots of swimming and lots of fishing. It had been a long time since I had fished this area but I won't let that happen again. Wheatie done a great job in the front of my canoe. It was a real pleasure to watch him toss into the exact spot that I was thinking of hitting. And it was a fun to watch hid rod bend and then him set the hook on another one. I think this trip was one of his first for the type of fishing we were doing and he caught on very, very, quickly was a like an old pro by the end. Great job again Wheat and let's be sure to do it again. Soon! Good eye eric. That is indeed a black perch. And for a creek, a really nice one. Congrats to Wheatie for that! Also Dylan says thanks for the complitment on his big fish of the day. And don't be jealous, just come on down sometime and I'll take you to some little known waters and put you on some fish. It'll be a hoot.
  5. It was all my pleasure. It was such a great day. I am so glad that I did change my mind and go to a different river. We will have to hit this one again. The great thing is, I know some other spots that will produce like this. And we will hit them.
  6. Oooppps. I didn't read that right the first time. My brain was not reading the same thing my eyes were. I see what you are saying now. Sorry about that. But still...... As much as I hear what the slips are going for down there, the $7 should have been waived.
  7. So you have to have a special sign? Or you chose to have a fancy sign made? All I saw was basically the same rules for the numbers on your house. But then again all I read was what Phil posted, I haven't clicked the link yet.
  8. I agree there. I guess they think it makes for good tv or radio. I was just sorta pointing out the hypocritical ASSpect of it. And there is no doubt that it comes from both teams. It is just we like it when it is about the other team.
  9. Iwegian huh? Just wandering around still? That would explain why you are going in circles.
  10. Well, it is not if you guy's have any love for Clinton. How funny it is to hear the right always blaming the left for still blaming Bush, even though the left is making progess on fixing his _____ up's, and yet they still bring up Clinton almost 10 years later.
  11. Why should tax payers have to pay to put an address number on the dock? Should the tax payer pay for all the address numbers on every home and bussiness in the US too?
  12. Oh I agree they are nice fish. Anyone should be proud to get some of those. Not sure on the October float yet.
  13. Looks like you guy's had a really good time. Where did you get one of those fish weighing thingy's? I got to get me one of those. We will have a fall float in October. Probably in the second week.
  14. My dad. The old school of river fishing is still in session. No fame or money. Just a great understanding of nature and how she works.
  15. Way to go guy's. I don't see near enough reports from you two. Is that the same trick worm you gave me on our Spring Float?
  16. If you ever get down to southwest mo, give me a shout. I'll put you in front of my canoe.
  17. Roaring River flows into T-Rock near Eagle Rock. Miles from the James. But yeah, there are a couple or so creeks that have trout that empty into the James.
  18. OK guy's. I have fished with both of you and I respect both of you. I think we have a misunderstanding here. Flytyer was, imho, just adding a little light hearted humor on a typo. I don't think he really meant anything by it. I also understand that you Slider are a man of deep faith and understand that you may not see the humor in that type of response. I can understand and appriciate that. But before this thing gets too carried away, as it looks like it is, let's rethink this. We may be from different backgrounds and beliefs but let's not let that come between us on an issue as small as this.
  19. Mo state record for Black Crappie is 5lb. Which I think is also the world record.
  20. A snake has one mouth and one brain the size of a pin head. Humans have two legs, two arms, two hands and one brain that is superior to any other in the world. Some chose to use their brain in conjuction with the other appendages. And appearantly we still have some that don't. Evolution is a wonderful thing! Your evolution may vary.
  21. This is from the Wildlife Code: (1) No bird, fish, crayfish, mussel, amphibian, reptile, mammal or other form of wildlife, including their homes, dens, nests, eggs and larvae in Missouri shall be molested, pursued, taken, hunted, trapped, tagged, marked, enticed, poisoned, killed, transported, stored, served, bought, sold, given away, accepted, possessed, propagated, imported, exported or liberated to the wild in any manner, number, part, parcel or quantity, at any time, except as specifically permitted by these rules and any laws consistent with Article IV, sections 4046 of the Constitution of Missouri; however, this Code shall not apply to other invertebrates except as specifically provided. Section 3CSR10-4.130 Owner May Protect Property, Wildlife Code of Missouri Subject to federal regulations governing the protection of property from migratory birds, any wildlife except deer, turkey, black bears and any endangered species, which beyond reasonable doubt is damaging property may be captured or killed by the owner of the property being damaged, or by his/her representative, at any time and without permit, but only by shooting or trapping except by written authorization of the director, or, for avian control, of his or her designee. Except as authorized, use of traps shall be in compliance with 3CSR10-8.510. Wildlife may be so controlled only on the owner's property within twenty-four (24) hours and shall be disposed of only in accordance with his/her instructions. Deer, turkey, black bears and endangered species that are causing damage may be killed only with the permission of an agent of the department and by methods authorized by him/her. Mountain lions attacking or killing livestock or domestic animals, or attacking human beings, may be killed without prior permission, but the kill must be reported immediately to an agent of the department and the mountain lion carcass must be surrendered to him/her within 24 hours. I'm no PETA person, but what is happening here is not the way I respect or teach my children to respect the outdoors and the species that occupy it and have occupied it since long before we invaded their territory. But that is just me and the way I was raised. Your milage may vary.
  22. Get you one of them boats, or fleet of them, that have the clear bottom in them. Like they have down in the everglades. Let them see all those trout. Then you can sell them a fishing trip too.
  23. No weekend hours? Dang it. I would love to check it out. Sounds like some really good deals to be had there.
  24. Freaking hilarious!!!!!!
  25. I got the best wife going. We had to go to a relatives of mine in Kansas Saturday for a cookout. It was just them, my family, my dad and his wife and my uncle from Columbia MO. My dad and my uncle, my dads brother, who just recently retired and now has taken a position with Duck's Unlimited, got to talking about taking a float trip. Well of course Dylan and I were going to be in on this, so we got into discussion too. It was decided that we would float Spring River since it was close to my dad's place and my uncle needed to be on the road around noon to make the drive back. So it was. After that as all said and done and the float was completed, my uncle hit the road and Dylan and I hung around and shot the bull with dad for awhile. I then asked him if he would like to take another float on Monday. He said sure. That kinda surpised me. So I said well if I can swing it, with with the wife that is, I'll call him this evening. On my way home from his house, I called the wife to get a feel for the mood she was in. To my surprise, since we had to go to her bothers in about an hour, she was in a great mood. WOW! So when I got home she asked about the trip and such and I told her. I then asked if I could go on anothe trip with dad the next day. "Sure, go ahead." WHAT!? You mean I can go on two float trips on the same holiday weekend? Sure can. So tomorrow dad and I will be doing another float. And I just wanted to share with you guy's what a wonderful wife I have. I just thought it was just super of her to let me float twice on the same weekend. Especially with it being a holiday weekend. I hope you all have had as great a holiday weekend as I am having on this one.
