  1. Ah shoot, thanks. I think you are in a league of your own here. LOL! You do realize that after this weekend it will be super busy on these waters? But you can still catch fish. One of the funnest trips I took last year was on Elk, on a Saturday. I have never seen so many canoes. But the fun part was pulling fish right out from under them and listening to the people's surprise. You will really get a kick of those that point out the trout to you. I would park right at the campground at Mike's Creek. Super nice guy and he'll keep an eye on it. He lives just across the road. Talk to him. I would also talk to one of the campgrounds at Noel. Tell them what your plans are. They'll keep an eye on it. I don't know how fast you float but Powell to Pineville is a 3 day float for me. Pineville to Noel is doable like Ollie said in one day. Kinda pushing for me though. Not real hard though. Pineville to Mt. Shira is about right for me. Be careful on what gravel bar you choose to camp on during your trip. Some people in that area are a little edgy about that. Keep it on the down low with small fires and don't spead out all over the bar like it is yours.
  2. Along the lines of last weeks photo from CWF, here is Corndawg taking a plunge on the Jacks Fork.
  3. Ok, I'll give you that one.
  4. If that make feel better.* *Ha, let that be a lesson to everyone on why you shouldn't text and drive. Looks like cave man talk. Unga bunga!
  5. What was my point then?
  6. Well my bad then. I thought there was quite a difference from dead birds to launching our trash into space. I see how it all ties together now. Please continue.
  7. You completly missed my point.
  8. So we have gone from windmills killing a few birds all the way to shooting spent nuclear fuel rods into infinity. Well played gentlemen.
  9. I heard that too! I remember hearing the term dropshot. Didn't know what they were talking about for a long time. Then some asked and it was explained. Ha, I knew what it was all along. The old term we always used was tightlining. I guess I'll have make up a name for some type of fishing so I can claim as mine.
  10. How did you know they were watching you if you weren't watching them? Personally I would never plant Cedars. They very invasive. I have seen a couple of them in Missouri. Dad trapped one when I was a kid. We were really surpised. Especially since it was not anywhere near badger type country. One other time near the Barton - Vernon county line I was lucky enough to have the wife and kids with me while driving down a dirt road and there was one at the edge of a corn field. We stopped and watched him for quite awile.
  11. Classic!!!! I want a piece of that rope swing! We always stop a few times on trips for some cooling off. And we have been known to use some rope swings, bale off of high mud banks, fly out of low hanging trees and even jump from a railroad bridge or two. Want some adventure in your next float trip, call me! Ha Ha! And thanks for posting. I tried posting some pics of some MDC bass CD has caught but couldn't get them to load. You saved the day!
  12. Very proud of you DD. That is quite an accomplishment. Hope to fish and hunt with you again someday. Maybe when we both slow down a little. Boy I hope to see you again before that happens!
  13. Reminds me of a little story. Whanna hear it? Here it goes.... Many, many moons ago, a friend and I decided to go camping and eat only what we caught. We were on a small creek in SWMO that I had always caught a ton of Goggle eye and very respectble Bluegill. It also has a nice population of channel cat and that is really what we planned on dining on. We packed a sein, Coleman stove, taters and onions, a can of Crisco, cornmeal and flour, rods, sleeping bags and a ton of beer. We were on a private gravel bar of one of our school friends and we had no worries. We set up and start getting bait. Soon we were fishing. And fishing, and fishing. We fished the rest of the day and on into the night. We went up and down stream hitting hole after hole. NOTHING! At least we didn't go hungry. We ran back to town, ran around a little, got some McD's and went back to camping. Next morning, or afternoon, whichever it was, we decided we weren't leaving until we ate some fish. So we hit it again. But boy was we seining some really nice shiners. Really big. So, we get a couple dozen of the biggest. We fired up the stove, and to tell you how hot it was this weekend, when we opened the can of Crisco, it was already melted!. We just poured it in the skillet. We took those big ol' shiners, squeezed the guts out, rolled in flour and cornmeal and fried them. We used the heads and sort of like a handle and we ate them. And really they were pretty dang good! I would actually recommend them. That was 25 years ago and my dad still like to tell the story of how my friend and I had to eat our bait. And I guess we did too.
  14. I really can't say anything to this that wouldn't sound like I was being a smartass or attacking you and I don't want it to come off that way. All I can say is, I couldn't disagree more. I like to know what is going on around the big sphere.
  15. Google it? Can't I just get it from FOX News? You know, fair and balanced.
  16. All that kid needs is some water! Get him out there!
  17. Goggle Eye is a slang term for Rock Bass. There 3 species of Rock bass in Missouri, the Norhern, Shadow, and Ozark. The Ozark, what you have in your pic, is native only to the White River system in the Ozarks.
  18. Fishing was great around here last year. If you didn't mind working at it a little. Toughen up solider! On a more serious note though, 2, maybe 3 years ago we started out with a really hot summer. The temps and humidity were brutal. We had a wet spring so we had plenty of water. But May through July, not a drop. Temps were at 100 or just below. But it didn't bother the fish. It was on like donky kong all summer. But come August the weather broke. It rained and the temps stayed in the 80's the rest of the summer. Was a really nice cool rest of the summer. I thought the fishing was really going to turn on then. But it did the exact opposite. It went to nothing. You could buy a bite. I hated it.
  19. Al, you're on crack! Where do you get off presenting facts as.....well.... facts? Really think your something don'tcha? Now for rest of you that wouldn't float last year because of Global Drought, yer wussies! You layed around in the air conditioning cause it was too hot and the water was too low. Waaa Waaa Waaa. Don't think for a minute you were the only ones with low streams. A little dragging never hurt anyone.
  20. I bet the Spot would think it was harmful. But who cares.
  21. The native spotted bass has lived in harmony with all of the other native fish for thousands of years. But some how they are now the cause of all the problems in the fishing world. All we have to do is remove the spotted bass from this earth and all will be fine again. I think Bass Ivy and J-Doc are knocking on the door of your problems.
  22. I was just going off of his own statement. And by looking at #6, it appears as if they have already decided to do it. Whether is it good for the population or not. Which I thought this was about size not population. The more I look at it, the more questions I have. I don't fish the lake a whole lot though.
