  1. Love to see different size and year classes of walleye. Should be some more good years in the future!
  2. Killed a few on the creek during the freeze, mostly gads and some divers (canvasback and ringnecks) only saw a few mallards. Headed to public this weekend in west central MO hope the Mallards are still there!

    Eggs??

Caught a few whites the other evening at Stockton. Out of 10 that I caught and cleaned 8 of them had eggs in them. Thought that is a little early to have them already. Anyone else see this lately?
  7. Some friends and I fished Sunday near Ruark bluff. Had two limits of keeper crappie on minnows (10-11.5 inches) fishing brushpiles. Probably 3 or 4 shorts to 1 keeper ratio. Anywhere from 15-30 fow. Lots of fun and great weather!
  8. Had a great opening day! 97 birds for our group. No problems. Retriever did awesome. I killed one bird that had no feet. I don’t understand how it survived this long.
  9. Working on a pontoon boat blind. Think we just about have it figured out. Thought you guys may have some suggestions.
  10. My son just picked up some avian X spinner doves. looked pretty nice. I will be out Wednesday hoping for a good day with our group.
  11. Totally agree with Bill. If you have been fishing and taking pictures of fish long enough you can make them "look" big or small. Seen many 8lb bass look like 4s and vice versa. Knowing Randy also, I agree with what he says about eyes is gospel to me also.
  12. Went to Greers Ferry for the first time yesterday out of Choctaw. After trying several things, settled into trolling and caught several nice crappie and some whites. I was trolling in 16-20 fow and most were caught around 18 feet deep. on flicker shads. Water temp was 84-86 degrees.
  13. I have a 2 year old lower unit for sell $1500. Came off my 1998 mercury 225hp efi. Message me if interested.
  14. Coming to Beaver middle of next week with a friend. Suggestions of places to launch. I will be driving out of Rogers. I have fished Table Rock for 28 years, first time on Beaver. My friend just wants to catch some fish so I really don’t care what species as long as they are active. Any suggestions?
  15. Had the compression checked. Blew the no.1 cylinder.
  16. I was running on plane the other day, my engine went from top speed to an idle. It would not accelerate enough to get on plane again. Idle seems ok. No power. Changed spark plugs didn’t change anything. Any suggestions?
  17. They whacked em pretty good. Winners had 19 and change and it took over 15 to place. Lots of fish caught and for a good cause.
  18. Put em in a gumbo. They all taste good.
  19. So hunted one day about a week ago and a buddy and I killed a Speck out of a small flock that worked into us. First one we have ever killed but we both were shooting at the same bird so neither would claim the kill totally or one of us would have had it mounted. No big deal. I have heard they are excellent eats. Don't want to mess the only one I have up. Does anyone have a good SIMPLE recipe? Thanks
  20. We put them and other divers in gumbo but I am going to mount the one I bagged. Pretty drake.
  21. Had a good first hunt this year in the middle zone. 4 guys and 21 birds.
  22. Very nice! Looks fun
  23. I tell you what I hate....Otters. They get between the boat and the bank and scare away only the big fish. Even if you are fishing there first they have no manners, just show up and screw everything up. I have tried talking to them calmly as well as hollering at them and throwing things does no good they just do what they want. As for people who aren't ethical, considerate, and are rude, if you fish and hunt enough, you run into them. Unfortunately that's our society these days. The secret is to continue to have a great day on the water or in the woods while navigating around these "people". Good Luck!
  24. Had a pretty good opener last week. It rained on us a couple hours but as good hunters we all persevered. Had a great young retriever there with boundless energy. Don’t think the whole group lost maybe a bird or two. Our group had 106 birds out of 10 hunters so everyone got plenty of shooting and it was a safe day with no accidents. Now ready for duck season to start!!
