New Trout Tournament Format Idea
crazy4fishin replied to Phil Lilley's topic in Upper Lake Taneycomo
Not really much different than the Oakley Bass series - when I fish that there is a mass text sent as to time to start then the whole hourly payout thing but the format would work for waders. C4F -
New Trout Tournament Format Idea
crazy4fishin replied to Phil Lilley's topic in Upper Lake Taneycomo
I think this is a good idea - and I like the format as it gives a way to C&R. Not that I dont like to eat a few Trout now and then but this would be a good way to catch some numbers - much like Major League Fishing C4F -
Personally I know my weight will be up; coming off a potentially long El Nino winter along with my wife getting into baking pastries and then having it that early I am sure I will be bundled up in my miss matched bibs and coat layered underneath with both my jerseys - - so I am guessing I will be up 20+ lbs.....if you were referring to the fish I have no clue

What a great vid! Do you blow on the fly like a gambler blows on the dice? C4F

Lilleys south? Valued @ $6 mil and might go for $3 mil - depending if it could generate cash it might be a good deal. C4F

Ummmm....Champ I sure like the wheels on your rig!?!?! I guess Bass fishing is also don't ask don't tell C4F

Champ I think you are right on - It seems that Brian Snowden is under the same impression, or he called you for advice ,that since the thermoclime did not happen this year the fish are up shallow - he thinks 40lbs will be the winning weight. C4F

I wonder if Short kept that Cat? And I thought he was retiring from fishing? Maybe I read it wrong. Cool pics to say the least, I love it when kids tie into a bigun....just the look on their face....priceless - I was just over at the Opens blog http://www.bassmaster.com/blogs/bass-pro-shops-bassmaster-opens-blog and it looks like they are catching a few "regular" fish. Dumb work is keeping me here and not there....I would at least like to watch.... C4F

Ummmm - if you find a pink jig / white head that would be mine... tied it on and was test casting and talking....got hung up three feet in front of the dock.....broke it off...up to the office I go!! C4F

Champ I thought that you were going out this last weekend...did you just up playing golf instead? C4F

I never pre rig....but I also leave one on all the time and have never had that problem. I am not sure who's head you are using but I would recommend buying them from Dave....he is on this board a lot. C4f

So if one were to wear their jersey under all their clothes....say like Superman does when he is Clark Kent.....that would be a good thing or not? I just read it somewhere on the internet that folks have done this. C4F

Taneydate 12:54:12 I was back out just before first light and boated up to Fall Creek - had a quick chat with a couple of guys on the dock there, I was a little dissapointed they didn't offer coffee....so I started fishing, cloudy sky with a light breeze and the drift speed was 1.6 MPH (GPS verified). I came out of the gate fishing a white jig and had some success. Mostly small ones on the house side. Right before the boat ramp I maneuvered so I was a little closer to the ramp so I could throw in that direction - on the white jig I picked up this nice Brown...he hit like a freight train and it took me some time to get him to the boat so I could net him. Got him in, took a pic, release him and by that time I was past the Condo's. Next cast = snag and a break off so I switched to a pink jig with a white head...I have never fished anything that bold in color and frankly I didn't really think I would catch anything....but then I remembered the empty jig drawers and the chalk etched black board with the "you have to have these to catch fish" bait written on it back at Lilleys and I thought could hundreds of other anglers and guides be wrong?? Well my angler / guide friends you were not - I ended up boating another 4 nice ones before I had to come in for a conf. call. Best of luck out there! C4F P.S. Sorry the pic is upside down...just turn your confuser over and it will be fine.

Bill...I almost tied one on just to try it....frankly the only thing that stopped me was the Ned producing...now I wish I did to see if I could get the weight up....best of luck if you go out today c4f

Champ - Now that was funny.....BTW sore thumbs...I wasn't sure what a meme was...I just figured it was some guy trying to get out of an imaginary box! Now I know it is a funny picture..... C4F

I decided to take a break from trout fishing - or they decided to take a break from me.....either way I went out on the Rock from 8 this morning until around 3 p.m. Friends it was a beautiful but HOT day....little to no breeze....at one point I was sweating through my skivies! It was a tough one - at least for me...I could not get a jig bite fishing main and secondary points.....I even tried my new War Eagle spinner bait to no avail. That bait was so disgusted with my performance that it flew right off my line at one point never to be seen again!! So I tied another one on and it didn't work any better but it did stick with me the rest of the day. I worked the area by the State Park and back in the cove at first - I noticed them breaking the surface and threw a spook at first and could only get a few followers. I then tied on a XPS top water something and a lot of chasers but no takers. Holy Smokes there is a ton of bait fish moving around in the coves.....when that turns on katy bar the door! I then moved to the cove to the west of Big Cedar and started using the Ned - I did get some love there as I ended up with 8 in that area - nothing big...1-2 lbs at best. And it was a weird bite - for most of them I actually thought I was starting to get hung up until it really started to pull back. The Bass in the second picture is fairly good size - I think it was just the way that I was holding it when I took the pic that makes it look small.....that is what she said....sorry I couldn't help myself. Around 2:30 all of the toys started to come out - so I got out. C4F

The New location for Lews and Sportmans Outlet
crazy4fishin replied to jmes's topic in Table Rock Lake
I went today! For as much rain as we were getting I thought I would have to take the boat but I made it and they were still putting stuff on the shelves getting ready for Friday - man it is nice. Well laid out and lit so you could see what you were looking at. Very good selection and the prices are better overall than the big guy and that internet site that we all buy from but I didn't have to pay shipping. For example their war eagle spinner baits were almost $1 cheaper so I bought a few - of course being a Lew's store they have a killer selection of reels - and a nice selection of Lew's rods - both combos and singles not to mention a nice selection of both hard and soft baits. The staff were very friendly and didnt mind talking at all while putting product up - seemed like a dream job to me..... I can see a problem with parking if they get any traffic at all - I bet Friday you will have to park down both sides of the street. Quill - I felt sorry for you after reading your post so I bought some stuff in your memory....O and I had them send you the bill so you know what I bought....they said something about payment....I wasn't really listening at that point.... just thinking of you C4F -
I went back out this a.m. (Tuesday Sept. 8th) and the results were very different. I could not get a bite on the TM....a few tugs but that was about it. I switched up to a 1/16 orange head sculpin color jig. I was able to have the best success using it - but I had to get to the bottom for anything to happen. I then got to thinkin about that San jaun red worm so I looked at the many $$$ of tackle in that boat and the only thing that I had that might even be close was a micro jig wrapped in red over white. Tied it on - put the float 5' above it - first cast - WHAM landed a nice one....that seemed to be the ticket for the balance of the morning until the monsoons came. Caught 4 or so. Since it was raining I went to Sportsman Warehouse..... I think it was slow for most everyone except the guide as I didn't see many pulling fish in. C4F

Good morning my Internet friends - back out at 6:14:51 GPS time and the fog was not as bad so I kicked it up a notch and ran 5.5 MPH up to Fall Creek....a beautiful morning it was - above the fog was the stars - pretty darn peaceful, but that is not the reason that we are here. Same pattern as the past couple of days - pink TM 7' below the float...caught 2 before a real nice one just made the float dissapear quicker than Kirby here in town. The fight was on and he was pulling drag - got him up to the boat to net - line broke....WHAT???....I wached as the float went deeper and deeper....so if you happen to catch a nice rainbow today with a green float and a pink TM in his mouth I claim first dibs, PM me and I will tell you were to ship it....this time I did tie on another rig and so much time had passed that I was almost down to Trout Hollow. I made the run back up and caught 5-6 more with many many misses - and if the float had a hook I would have caught a dozen more as the fish were up pecking at them all day. I did also notice a lot of followers. On the next pass I switched it up to a brown head, brown jig 1/16th and caught one - but a ton of followers. I did discover that they wanted some action so the more that I snapped it the better I did - C4F

That is a great picture! C4F

Funny - my Mom told me the same thing...I did not fish the lake at all and just stayed on Taney...there were times that you could walk to the shore one deck at a time if you get what I mean. I know it was busy up top as I went to the State Park - WOW is all I could say. I felt sorry for anyone trying to load and unload at the ramp....talk about waves!! Others must have thought it was busy - I don't remember seeing as many big boats as I have the last couple of days on Taney! BTW thanks to the big ProCraft that ran up and down throwing 2' rollers I know the kayakers liked it...... C4F
