  1. I use the Lews 6lb for my Ned rig.....so far it has handled all of the 12" fish that I catch just fine! C4F
  2. Things I will remember to do this time: 1. Tie up the boat securely after launching it - wet underwear is icky...but commando saved the day. 2. Practice, practice practice tying flouro knots so that my new War Eagle spinner bait(s) do not leave me....going to buy more JIC...... 3. Register a bit earlier so that I don't miss getting a rod whoops that ship has passed! 4. Make sure that my new Whopper plopper bait is ready to go (both sizes) - that could be the secret bait of the day! 5. Keep the total number of rods on the deck under 20.....even though I will probably only use one or two....for sure a Ned rigged rod. 6. Not wash my lucky Jersey - maybe I will wear my old jump suit this time 7. Have one heck of a good time while fishing with some of my internet friends! C4F
  3. Nope 176 - never look on Face book...I hear it is the Devils play house..... C4F
  4. So you literally threw your money away on that bait.....sorry I couldn't resist.... C4F

Interesting....regarding the kiss the fish part - I was watching MLF the other day and one of the guys was kissing his fish....maybe a trend? I have put my lips on some stuff in the past but for sure wont be kissing a fish....I mean they swim in their own poop!! It seems to be a trend now a day that baits are more translucent...they do look pretty cool in my eyes anyway - I must have two dozen WW in various colors....all solid. I wonder if there is any science to back this up. C4F
  6. That is right on about the thin margins on the baits....at least the ones that are in the strike zone that most of us play in and that is the $3 - $15 range depending on the type. You would be surprised how much is in the actual bait itself - for example...most bait companies do not make the hooks so they buy from the hook guys who mark their stuff up etc. etc. And by the time you put it in a pretty box to attract us fisherman you have some $$ tied up, not to mention if it is considered a "Pro" bait. I know the guy that runs a company that makes the wire for most of the spinner baits....more in that little piece of wire than I thought. Dave is right about the other stuff......especially.....shall I say it....Jerseys! C4F
  7. WOW
  8. We can sure tell that winter is here to much time at the key board and WAY to many political commercials! Kinda getting back to the original OP - I was watching MLF (love the MLF!) this last week and it hit me that these guys are in the same situation that I find myself in when I go fishing, a couple of those guys had so many rods on the deck that they were stepping on them...while I know the time of year if I have not been on a lake or on a familiar one in a certain time period I find myself having more tools on the deck than normal. Which could lead one to spin out if a certain pattern(s) is not working, then next thing you know you break out the magic banjo minnow system that is highlighted at a local BPS end cap to at least get a bite. (for the record I do not nor have ever been in possession of such a bait ) The other thing that happens is if I am fishing a body of water that I go to but not on a regular basis like TR I watch the forums....i.e. here....and have bought and bought into some of the baits....can you say whopper plopper!? Yeah I plopped down some green for a couple of those..... Maybe my wife has it all figured out - when she fishes with me all she wants to use is night crawlers..... C4F
  9. After reading this thread I was in the garage and I noticed that I have about a dozen + rods with no reels and a "few" misc reels that need rods. That is in addition to what I carry in the boat! While I do like the nice stuff I try to wait for sales or buy off the boards - so far that has worked well for me and my paypal account My wife likes to fish also - not as fanatical as me though....she has 2 rods / reels. but the biggest darn tackle box! She is one of those if it looks good to her the fish must like it....glad I am not that way C4F
  10. I probably have 20-25 rods in the boat at any given time...not on the deck mind you...I have to have the discipline to only have on deck what I am using at the time (2-4 rods) and put away the ones that I am not using...I have stepped on too many rod guides while landing the 12" "big un" Like Dave - getting to a real fishing spot from around here take some drive time so I want to be prepared...I had to laugh when I wrote that part...like I know how to fish! C4F
  11. Hmmmmm - this got me thinking....I use moderate / modest gear for my Nedding.....but I do carry it around in a fairly high priced rig that the bank has bought me I am not sure it makes me feel any better and above anyone else.....I guess it is just how I want to stimulate the economy! What would my banker do if I didn't have the boat? Just poking fun Old Plug..... C4F
  12. To funny - I think that I have a few friends that have "common" sense like that C4F
  13. I sat and talked with him Ish and Mike M. when I Marshaled a couple of years ago - he is a very different person off camera, nice, talkative etc. I did get the feeling that while he is passionate about fishing he is a show man and knew what it took to keep the cameras on him. He also has a web show which i have never watched......all that being said that calendar would not hang in my house....who knows maybe TW will throw on in with each order under $50!! C4F
  14. Happy New Year my internet fishing friends! Here is a great quote that I found recently: "New Year is not about changing the dates but direction; it’s not about changing the calendar but commitment; it’s not about changing the actions but attitude. May each and every day of yours is renewed with lots of happiness and love." So may you and yours be blessed in 2016 - and that you catch your personal best! C4F
  15. Love me some MLF.....I was hoping that some of the clubs around here would adopt a format like this, logistics would be tough I guess having a "ref" in each boat....I especially like the penalty format around fish handling. C4F
  16. What is the speed on your reel?

  17. Our local BPS has them - many times on sale...depending on the year....since I lost a ton of them on my old DVR I guess I am going to have to break down and buy.... C4F
  18. J Doc how old is that phone! maybe you did a Marty McFly and took the Deloreon out for a spin??? C4F
  19. Ab - this is just a little sad.....O wait I see that your interests are Mizzou and the Cards....so yes, yes you did win! Just jabbing a bit I just switched cable folks so I am going to have to set me DVR to record the shows. Now truth be told who has bought any of the Bass Pros DVD series? C4F
  20. Merc & Skeeter did a good job in outlining the program....if one wanted a visual of the whole white river basin program just stop off at the Dewey Short center on the lake.....great information there. A few years ago we faced the same issues here in NE - and the comments were the same.....the dams are for flood control first and foremost. C4F
  21. O yeah....makes sense...my TM is a bear to disengage so I am expecting a break and me flying to the back seat thanks much C4F
  22. Man if it keeps raining you guys will be able to put in somewhere near Springfield and fish every mail box to the dam! We were lucky and only got 5" of snow....+ 30 MPH wind. Champ - I have been thinking of doing the same thing.....what did you crimp the end with? C4F
  23. Dave - that Champ must be a social media butter fly....going from forum to forum informing all of the way C4F
