  1. this time of year the walleyes will be coming of the post spawn blues, and be hungry and on cloudy days chase bait in water a foot deep on windy points, keep the wind at your back toss it almost on the bank and rip it back, 3 jerks and a pause, and try change ups everyday the trigger is different, two jerks and a pause jerk pause jerk, pay attn and you will find out what they like...as far as baits rogues, husky jerks, I liked black and gold, clown face, silver n black...they will slam it and fight like champ...my fav way to catch walleyes, you will pick up some bonus bass as well, buddy of mine caught a 5# smallie this way, I used 8# green mono, but I know people who use braid with a fluro leader and did well
  2. fishing for big browns at night is a great way to catch a huge one...fishing at night you need to know the water, logs, places that can cause you to damage the boat...scouting or being familiar with where your fishing is a must, if the current is heavy at night last thing you want is get hung up on a log and go sideways to the current, even if you know the water night time can be disorientating...but planning and having the proper safety gear will help...blasting about at night is a no-no,
  3. yeah I have done that, some nice cats in Stockton, that flats area has some dandy channels used to put a light out for shad and toss a net and drift fish and would catch some nice channels and a few whites that way in summer
  4. a drift sock was always in my boat on Stockton, with a pool float on the rope, it was the difference when fishing was tougher, point 6 up toward the dam, produced bigger crappie and more walleyes for me, when everyone was pounding the creek arms. 1/16 oz roadrunner heads (poured our own) white head swimming minnow body with a gold willow leaf blade was hard to beat as was chartreuse/ black /chartreuse silver blade, if we were after walleyes alone 1/8th black head /chartreuse blade and 1/2 crawler was our go-to...4lbs green mono... also slip bobbers at night on main lake /secondary points will catch limits of walleyes from now till 2nd week in June, they sell bobbers that take a glow stick, or you can use a latern and the bobbers will jump out at you when the light is shined across the water (NOT IN TO IT) if you can get them, canadian leaches are my top bait at night, followed by crawlers and big shiners last
  5. Ike does the whole carping thing, check it out Thursday
  6. lol normally you catch a few catfish for that, sometimes trout, some guys plug for bass waiting for a run, from what I was told those in that group grilled steaks every night...good times for sure
  7. the cradle is used for fish to safely recover a bit before pics and release...sometimes you run out of slings like these(see below) they velcro together and have floats on them, they caught so many fish this weekend I suspect the slings were full...sometimes they come in waves and you only have time to net and move on
  8. My friend banked a 44-6 and a 42-0 this weekend along with a butt load of mid to upper 30s
  9. oats pack, used 50/50 mellow fruity and vanilla butternut Superior Flavoring (n-Butyric Acid Spiked) worked well for me as well as one-on's rotten strawberry water is clear and rocky so mono works better than braid, as far as hook bait one or 2 grains of pop up plastic maize in white or yellow dipped in whatever flavors you use in your pack,, if they get picky put a teaspoon of prepared hemp seed in the oats pack, and a teaspoon of hemp oil (CC-MOORE) in your glug pot, once it gets hot the fish bite best at night, be careful about shining lights in the water, big fish get big avoiding Bfing boats and light and banging around sends them deep, but don't think norfolk gets hit as hard are some the other Missouri lakes
  10. Norfork has been on my "list" for a while has everything like dale hollow, chum, boiled maize, grotes and tigers, and spom heavy and often location fish long points with flats and fish the down wind sides of the points this time of year fish tend to run 7-12 feet should be pre spawn, pm me the general area I have a couple of spots I can send you map locations
  11. caught some monsters on the rock, they are good eating as well
  12. might get a few of these
  13. sometimes you need to hang on to them or the fish are big enough to yank them in!
  14. dude! top waters in the gulf will give you a heart attack, jacks will blow them up! like dropping batteries from a chopper! paWOOOPFH!
  15. I think you will have a blast something is always biting
  16. yes I grew up fishing there, the Perdido Pass jetties are great and in summer the water is calmer than Stockton, also the many canals have lots of small reds, reds run bigger in the bay but it can be dangerous because of ship wakes, tossing spoons for spanish is really fun, pompano, flounder and specks, you never know what you might catch, bass sized spinning gear 10# test and a spoon tipped with a piece or fresh squid or cut bait will catch everything, watch the tides and you will catch ...crabbing at night is fun as is tossing a cast net just to see what is there....mullet if you catch them are good to eat as well as bait, the area around the ferry/fort morgan is good but the beach areas around state park pier would be easier to kayak and fishing is really good ...and then there is the food!!! yum
  17. they sell those online, great way to reserve a fishing spot me thinks...
  18. Just something that warms my heart when a kid catches a big fish!
  19. this is from dale hollow Bruce Massey with his new Personal best Common weighing in at 46.0 pounds! he old PB was 17#
  20. sea run shad are a blast to catch, never ate one though just tossed them back
  21. eels, bet they have a few of those as well there
  22. the question is how many people AVOID fishing or booking rooms during a tourney, once I stayed at orleans trail, and found out they were having a big tourney out of there that weekend, If I had known I would have went else where for that weekend, when we booked rooms they neglected to tell us, so I am sure tourneys cost bookings as well...so many on TR I wonder how many people fish somewhere else...could explain the boom in kayak fishing a bazillion smaller waters you can have to yourself...an attractive option to be sure amen
  23. all my sources tell me the fishing has gone nuts...if you are at work your missing out, but from what I hear a bad 2-day virus is going around
