  1. One of the mainstays of Carp angling is chumming, yet how do you get your quarry to take your bait amongst all the free offerings? Plastic maze-maggots-pellets even fake bread flavored to be just a bit more enticing than the freebees...but it not so much a taste or scent as the ability of the fish to locate you goody...visually is easy bright colors, pink-orange-chartreuse all make you hook bait stand out. Buoyancy, a pop up standing just above the bed of goodies says pick me pick me, plus easier to inhale all helps............................ But studies have shown PH is the key, pineapple is very acidic soaking your plastic in the juice from a can to crushed pineapple does wonders...salt as well..the change in saline content is also a homing beacon to fish...as it a range of amino acids, lysine-betaine-glycine-arginine added to baits also scream "I AM FOOD" some of these are the additives to bass plastics like gulp-- and Trout powerbait etc.....Ironically sweet corn contains high levels of these amino acids as well as salt (canned sweet corn) perhaps this is why its always been a successful bait for Trout and Carp...try adding some of this weapons to your arsenal of fish catchers..be it your own bass plastics glug...or a super secret carp dough bait....
  2. I used to love to go squirrel hunting, saved the tails to sell to Mepps.....perhaps I may feel compelled to go fishing with one-shot one of these days...I have to ask..are you a .22 or .410 man when it comes to squirrels???
  3. have seen the brooks silversides in the spring river drainage, they are terrible bait as they die quick in a minnow bucket
  4. Truman crappie seem to be heaver for their length than Stockton or TR crappie...always wonder what they are eating they don't get in the other two lakes....perhaps thats why the MDC tried to stock Mississippi Silver sides in Stockton a few years back
  5. fishing Club? plenty.... usually not restricted to one body of water though
  6. I haven't fished 33 in a long time...our CAG group had a social one year there and almost had heat stroke was 101 that day...wish we could fish there late at night
  7. I grew up fishing creeks like that...great fishing....never knowing what you'll catch is half the fun..thanks for sharing
  8. I would like to see the native river strain walleye, if it means sampling to get the brood stock..we are close to loosing the genetics that produced 20# class fish..also quality river small mouths...we have some strains in our area that are unique....something to my knowledge Missouri, Arkansas isn't doing at the moment
  9. he is as American as anyone.....98% of the people I know in CAG (Carp Angler Group) are American born and bred, like most of us...he grew up crappie fishing-bass fishing even trout fishing...he came across a guy euro carping and he was hooked!..he still like most of us fish for other things..he loves 'yack fishing..if I wasn't so fat..I prob would do it as well.... I'd love to go carp or buff fishing with one-shot.........I hate netting my own fish! oh net boy.......all kidding aside I enjoy anyone who likes being out in nature
  10. a "pub shack".....Be cool to have something like this in a few places here
  11. A buddy of mine set his new PB Twice today...a 32# common and a 41# Grasser!..till you have a drag sing by one of these bad boys you haven't lived!
  12. since the asian carp showing up in grand..its way to easy to get them started with them being in batch of bait...worse if they net the baby jumpers for bait on purpose..I can see the concern...In the white river chain they are a direct competitor with paddlefish
  13. we REALLY need something like this in Missouri
  14. Concentric Diamondback terrapin x False Map turtle.....Green one is the false map turtle
  15. darn LOZ people dumping there kid's pet after vacation

    Why the FBI?

its the old trowing a game for $ thing...billions are gambled on games every week....lots of room for shenanigans "longest yard movies"
  21. I am tell you...grew up in Mobile, AL.....and OS moments when you say...... LOOK a barge! not so much a wake as they can in and will run you over! pehaps one on LOZ and make the 1st moving golf course
  22. I don't know the closest source of asian jumping carp to beaver...but if someone was inclined they could bring them in with no understanding...I have heard they have made it into grand lake...some have been snagged during spoonbill runs..short hop netting shad on grand for fishing beaver stripers....we still don't know what the result will be from them..saw a study on the Illinois river on a boom in LMB..and they were getting porky on eating baby silvers....I wonder if they have more nutritional value than say a shad?....blue and flathead cats, muskie and stripers should be able to eat lots of the jumping demon fish...at least till they break 10#.....
