  1. Dennis, Don't know who won but I heard 13 lbs and change got it done. Phillip Stone and partner were 4th with 11 lbs.
  2. Let's put this in math terms: Mom + girls = sleepover/corn maze. Thumbs + recliner = football/baseball playoffs.
  3. Sure wish someone made a copy of the old Ditto Baby Gator Tail. It was a 5-inch worm and one of the best flippin' worms ever.
  4. You used to didn't need so many rods before Babler banned you from the river. Now you're stuck down there in the "Wide World of Where the Hell Are They" and you gotta be prepared for just about anything.
  5. Even with the wide front deck of a Ranger, I never have more than 3 rods out. I've stepped on too many guides or reel handles and just am not comfortable with all of that clutter up there. When they are chomping a blade and I have it narrowed down to the one they want, I'll put everything else up and enjoy my clutter-free environment.
  6. No secret. War Eagle spinnerbait from can til can't for me. White/chartreuse 3/8-ounce bait in dingy water; lavender shad 1/4-ounce bait in the clearer water. Chased the wind and the shade and tried to stay on banks with the right rock content/slope. Clue: It's not bluffs. River fishing 101. Had one rod on the deck most of the day. Love it like that. Donna pitched in with a crank bait and jig.
  7. The Zoom worm you're thinking of is a G-Tail. It's actually patterned after the old Ditto Gator Tail worm of 70s and 80s vintage.
  8. Me too, Jason, but I'm already committed that weekend. Matt says it will be same time and place next year. Let's go do it. We can travel and room together if you like. Should be a great time.
  9. Being a central Arkansas resident back in those days, I used it primarily on Dardanelle and other pools of the Arkansas River. Because those waters are murky, the 8-inch was my go-to size. Swam it weightless thru grassbeds and it produced some explosive strikes.
  10. Bill Norman Lures was my first tournament sponsor back in the early 1980s. The Snatrix actually came in three sizes ... 3, 5 and 8 inches.
  11. They're waiting to bite until tomorrow.
  12. No. No, they don't bite a Fin in the fall. Only in the spring. What's wrong with you, bo?
  13. Good luck in the regional, Jason. Hope you get some good draws.
  14. Thanks tapout. Glad you caught some decent ones.
  15. Agreed on the minnow/shad activity. That's been key in the areas where Donna and I have been catchin' em.
  16. Good trip, bo. Glad to hear there are some better fish up shallow. May try to steal off up that way Thursday when it's cloudy/rainy and see if my shallow bite produces some bigger fish.
  17. Caught this one on the west end last Saturday.
  18. Yes, been doing some early fall river ratting. Crank bait/spinnerbait/buzz bait/jig bite up shallow all coming around. Keepers hard to come by. Big ones even harder.
  19. Thank you, bo, for stocking the White River arm of the lake with brownies. We owe you.
  20. Not too much to add. There's a very shallow bite on crank baits in the right places, but those are limited and I'm not one to draw maps to fish as vulnerable as these. We did catch a few drop shot fish at about 30 feet in 45-99 feet of water. And we caught some jig fish on 45-degree banks with big rock. Bites were 12-18 feet for the most part. Oh yeah, there's still a bit of a dock bite on jigs, from 15 feet out to about 28. We ended the day with 35-40 fish. Had six keeps, best five 12-13 pounds. Still typical early fall fishing ... scattered deep to shallow. Good luck out there.
  21. I run the DFI full synthetic in my '13 Pro XS because I was told by my dealer it has less of a tendency to contribute to carbon deposits, especially if you run less than wide open throttle most of the time. FYI, my dealer is in Warsaw, Mo., so he has no monetary interest in which oil I buy.
  22. Glad you had a good day. Thanks for the report.
  23. And to resurrect one of your best lines ever ... everyone knows a cheetah doesn't belong in a briar patch!
  24. You're welcome, addiction. Hope you find some good stuff.
  25. I wonder sometimes if feeding patterns are changing (more deep-water feeders) or if we're just learning more about how to catch these open-water fish. Either way, a large percentage of fish are being caught suspended in very, very deep water. This seems to have increased in the past 2-3 years. One thing is certain. Our moderator Mr. Bill knows more about catching these fish than just about anyone out there. What's more, he shares it freely. We'd all be wise to listen closely.
