  1. These are some of my friends from Columbia, MO. Might not be your musical taste but the 3 of them are some really great people.
  2. That's one of my favorites.
  3. These are pretty tough and catch some fish. Caught an 8lb channel cat on one when I was 9 and I've had one with me ever since.
  4. I like this guy too!!
  5. It happens in all sports and hobbies. We are our own worst enemies at times. I've dwindled my stock down to 5. 1 has never seen water. 2 haven't been in at least 6 years. Another single gets use 3-4 days a year. The last one is in my car right now. It's that Redington and it goes everywhere. Bass, trout, gills, whites, and my friends in the salt down south have all been landed on it. To me it's the best thing I have ever cast. Not just the best flyrod, the best any rod. And it's only 7' 10". I love that thing. But I'm not the best caster in the world either, so somebody that can really cast probably would be happier with something better. I did fish a Sage One 9' 7wt all day that belonged to Jeff Trigg and liked it a lot. But not more than what I already have. @Gavin makes a good point about weight. I probably bought an 8wt thinking I could cast more weight. But whatever I was thinking then is not what I'm thinking now. I'm done casting heavy flies. If I need to drag the depths there is better equipment than that. I have a floating line and a sink tip line. I really should buy another rod so I don't have to switch. Yeah I know about the sinking leaders and I have one but I don't like it much. Maybe it's too heavy??? But I do like that 8wt for just pushing some flies where I want them. It's great to throw a #2 gurgler. People make way too many false casts. You shouldn't make it that hard on yourself. But I do like the option of firing a gurgler in around some brush, giving it a few twitches, and then in one motion I can pull it completely out of there and right back in at another spot. I don't have to reel or work that bait all the way back to the boat. It's efficient. Not the easiest thing to do if you are floating in a canoe or kayak, but everything gets better with practice. I know that's not technical, but it is my mumbo jumbo about fly fishing. Just remember that if you compare my skills to somebody like Wrench then I suck. And it would be very noticeable to even a small child. So my mumbo jumbo is weak........... but it makes me happy so I doubt I get any better.
  6. I like this guy.
  7. Facebook doesn’t cause people to be douchebags. Don’t be ignorant and ignorant things won’t happen to you. I know ladies that have been taken advantage of by church deacons. Guess they are the devil’s work too.
  8. That's what my wife says. And I know it can be but you will be hard pressed to find much drama on my feed. I can like and unlike all the BS I want, so if you see a bunch on there then it's your own fault. Maybe if nobody paid attention to the turds the world would at least seem like a better place.
  9. I did the exact same thing to a 3 wt in the exact same spot on the river and Kevin was there then too. I don't have that canoe seat anymore.
  10. Not really. Me and Kevin paddled up the James to some dykes and it got caught under the canoe seat and my fatass.
  11. Anybody interested in a Scott A2 5 weight? It's in great condition just doesn't see enough time out of the tube. Scott replaced the butt section last year after I broke it.
  12. It might just tell ya that people are getting sick of Facebook drama. I can't stand the wake boats and I don't even fish Table Rock, but there is no reason for people to continue arguing about ANYTHING on Facebook. It changes nothing. I know some nice people with wake boats. Smart people. Engineers and school teachers and ...... You can't convince them that it's hurting anything. I've heard one say it's the fisherman that are dangerous. Sitting "out in the middle of the lake. Why don't they just go back in the coves and stay close to the bank." So I can understand a admin not wanting it to turn into the same trash as like a political debate. It does nothing to help.
  13. One of my favorite things to do that I no longer do. I should just sell my shotguns at this point.
  14. Yeah a 6wt isn’t going to cut it for what I want to toss. Maybe that’s why some of you don’t have the best success fly fishing for bass.
  15. What you need is a rod that fits your cast. I was traveling all over the country at the time and used my evenings trying out different rods. Really doesn’t matter if it’s called fast, moderate, or slow. You need something that works for you and the type of flies you want to cast.
  16. We have a Blackstone at work. They are freaking awesome. It get's used 3 or 4 times a week at least. size is going to depend on how much you want to cook I guess but they are well worth the money.
  17. Redington Predator 8710-4 It and the BVK were very close for me. I can't remember all the rods I cast but these two made the top of the list. If it wouldn't have been a smoking hot deal on the Redington from a friend of a friend I might have went BVK.
  18. Whatever you think. You are the professional.
  19. I did this several years ago and the BVK made it to the top of the list. Wasn't what I ended up with but it was very close. I did 8's and haven't regretted it one single bit.
  20. Yep. I was lucky enough to get to do it with the same guy for around 40 years. A whole lifetime of memories but I wish there would have been more.
  21. Maybe, maybe not. I spent a lot of days standing side by side in bassboat with the same person. It wasn't unusual to be using the same baits, doing the same thing, and one of us catch many more than the other. Yeah there had to be some differences but they weren't significant. In most cases they weren't even detectable by us. But Mitch is right. If you are struggling and others aren't you at least need to make an attempt to find out why.
  22. The ponds in southern Oklahoma would have both. We never kept any of the mudcats but did catch and keep some nice channels mixed in.

    Question

I took one of my daughters to kids fishing day at RR one time and vowed never to do it again. If you want to go to the carnival at the trout park then by all means go, a lot of people enjoy it obviously. But if you want to go fish with them in a less circus type environment then choose another day.
  24. Linden to the Park in Ozark is a good place to start. The link that Seth posted is kind of wacky though. Hwy 65 and the Mill dam aren't the same place. Not even close really. Also it lists Hwy 125 at Linden as the start but there is a lot of good water above there. I would start with the Linden to Park float first. It's a nice float with an easy shuttle.
