Looks like a great time. I've fished with that redneck a few times and we have always had a blast.

Probably could have paid off my house or put all 3 girls thru college with the amount of money we have spent on family vacations over the years but there aren't any memories in that.

Been vacationing in this area every year for around 15 years now. People keep asking me why we never go someplace new but it's new every year. And if you take the 18 year old fishing you have to take the 13 year old to see some live music. Not complaining. Voodoo Gumbo.

If you are going to fish with bait then a big rod and a big reel are the way to go. If you are just going to toss some lures then you don't need much. I use a 7 ft spinning rod with 15lb braid and usually catch enough to keep me entertained. Redfish, ladyfish, jacks, flounder, blues. They all hang really close. All you need are some Johnson Sprites, gotchas, rattletraps, topwater, etc. Learn to read the surf and tides. Like snagged said, early is best. Like 5am. But that's tough to do on vacay. Call around when you get there for an offshore trip. I did this yesterday and was able to get my daughter and I on a boat this Friday for $100 each. We will be in there with 8 others but that's really not bad. Full disclosure: I tossed a spoon for an hour and a half this morning with nada.

Same problem here using a small belt sander. One little mistake and you are starting over. I don't do it enough to be good at it so I just use the belt to get it close and then do it by hand from there. And still manage to make it look like crap.

It's hard to correct this disdain that you speak of when you post alternative facts.

UV products are okay. But you should not make a single application thicker than an 1/8 inch so it cures properly. I did a lot of tests with these products when they first became available. While they have improved I just don't trust the cure unless you keep the costs thin and have a reliable source of UV to cure.

Yep. Those usually have all you need. Its not something you would build a boat with but it's perfectly fine for repairs.

You can also get everything you need from any O'Reilly Auto Parts store and save on shipping. Anytime you are shipping haz mat is going to be expensive. If they don't have it in their store they can easily get it shipped out of there warehouse. Not knocking what Stein is saying but if you just need a small amount for a repair there are easier and cheaper options.

Those are cool little boats. Really for that all you should need is some resin and cloth. And of course that acetone for prep and cleanup. Get you some disposable gloves too. Resin is some nasty sticky stuff.

It's not as hard as you think. Prepping the area for repair is the single most important part. What kind of damage are you repairing?
