You want a James River secret bait? Well here is one. Actually I think it works everywhere. When there is a kid in the front of my canoe this is one of their two choices. The other choice is also a small spinnerbait. Not saying you should be treated like a kid, but if you want something that will catch just about everything then here it is. Lots of other good recommendations already listed. You can't go wrong with a small finesse worm. Sometimes on a jig head, sometimes split shot and other times no weight at all. I'd start small and go from there. Find the style you want to fish and then you can build on that. It's a great place to fish.

But I thought we wanted to protect the fish at all costs? I guess making it more of a challenge isn't what everyone is looking for. We want them protected as long as we still have the upper hand. Don't lay on carpet but it's okay to destroy their mouth. I really don't care either way. I'll retract my vote. I lose fish all the time for various reasons. I can think of several big fish that I have lost over time and none of those would have turned out any different if I would have had a barbless hook. One of them still recent enough that I'm still having flashbacks. Nothing would have made a difference. In those moments those fish won and I'm okay with that. I just don't understand the double standards. You can go to any trout park and find a decent fish wearing a lot of jewelry. But god forbid you actually take a fish home to enjoy. Or lay it on some rocks, grass, carpet, etc.. to get a picture to remember it by. But I'm good either way.

Some people are just made unhappy. And other people being happy about something they don't understand just makes them even more unhappy. Plus rather than just ignoring it and moving along they have to make a big issue about it and act like a dick. Mostly you see this from teenage girls on facebook but occasionally it sneaks out of that environment.

I don't do the Silver Bullets. When you are a specimen of health like me it doesn't matter. I love the stuff in the old gold cans though. Best IPA I have ever had is 400lb Monkey. Good stuff. And I'll take anything from Sam Adams as long as it's not that citrusy crap. That's why God made lemonade and vodka.

Well I don't drink any sissy beers but there are other good American beers that don't give me a headache. So I drink those. And I'd just as soon have a beer out of a can as a bottle. When I drink a little I try to find a nice pale or good IPA. Just like BBQ there are lots of good ones so why not try a bunch. And if I'm gonna take it on the river then my cooler will have several Coors waiting in the ice.

Some people do not enjoy the pounding headaches that it gives them. Budwieser is the McDonalds of beers.

Most piss water sold does not make that crap the best beer. People need to broaden their horizons.

Sure. How would you like to pay for your share of that? Cash or credit? We already know that you won't do jury duty and everybody has to pitch in. If I was the brother that chased him I would have probably burned the vehicle. Looks like a fine upstanding citizen.

You know after many years of trying to figure out how the best way to incorporate a rattle into a fly I finally figured it out. Just leave the thing off. I really don't think it adds anything to it.

I then lose it on the first cast. I do like the method of attaching the rattle. But the rest is too tedious for me. I need to make something quick and easy that I won't be heartbroken over hanging on the bottom or 30 feet up in a tree.

I like the looks of feathered trebles and fished them on jerkbaits off and on for a long time. I can't say they helped but I don't think they hurt either. Same thing with topwater.

I think it's worth a try. From what I keep seeing these finicky trout have no problem coming up and taking a bright colored thingamabobber. And yes some of these have been wild rainbows.
