  1. There's always a way to make it work. In college I made a duct system out of cardboard that exhausted the fumes out of my small apartment. I made an adapter (again out of cardboard) to keep the window covered except where the duct attached. Used a fan inside it to push air outside. As long as I painted in front of it I never had any issues. keep your air volume low on your brush and it should be easy to keep from working in a fog.
  2. I don't think you need a booth but a fan pushing air out the door would be best. I think most of us have the same issue with our garages. It's either too hot to do anything or it's too cold. When It's just right we are out doing other things.
  3. The other thing you have to worry about is exposure to your skin. You can and will absorb the compounds through your skin. You rarely see a painter anymore that isn't covered from head to toe. Used to be common for these painters to be exposed all day and then wash their hands with some thinner. Your skin absorbs it and it makes its way into your bloodstream. But for the sizes of items we are talking about it's very easy to create a small booth to paint your baits in safely.
  4. I understand the allergy problems. I used to paint on a fleet of vans as a side job and would feel miserable for a couple of days every time I painted. I still automotive paints but don't even have to wear a respirator in the garage anymore when painting lures. It's all about air flow. You need a bunch of it. But you also have to be careful where you are funneling so you don't overspray the wife's new car. Doesn't have to be fancy. Mine always consist of a fan, a cardboard box and some cheap A/C filters. You guys are driving me crazy with this stuff. I'm headed over to predator baits to make a purchase. Any recommendations on other baits?
  5. Trophy, A couple of things about that respirator. It's a good one. But when you are not using it make sure you keep it sealed up. 3M used to tell everyone that the cartridges were good for about 40 hours of exposure, whether you were painting or not. So if you keep them sealed up between uses it extends the life of the cartridge. The other thing is that you can save a lot of money if you don't have to have the full face version. Part number 7192 uses the same cartridges and covers your mouth and nose, and you should be able to pick one up from your local O'Reilly's for $30 or less. The only difference is that it doesn't cover your face and eyes. Safety goggles or glasses will protect your eyes from any splashes or spills that occur. But if you want the full face then by all means get it. They are nice.
  6. Nice rod. I'm usually not a fan of clear wraps but I like those. Seems like the 686 is doing a good job with the bigger flies. I've been looking and dreaming but I have too many projects to start a new one. It is surprising what a small trout will eat.

You got a good picture and that's all that matters. When you get old that picture will mean more than anything a tape measure could tell ya.
  8. But what you fail to take into consideration is that there are a LOT of colleges out there with a LOT of players that are walk-ons or have a small scholarship. Quit think Mizzou football and basketball are the only programs. It's 100% not right. Very few go on to have successful careers after college. And a lot of these student athletes don't even have a shot at a career in their game because it doesn't exist beyond college. There is no can of worms. Give them $10 bucks an hour for practice and game time. Like I said I'm not saying that they should become rich but a lot of them are not getting what they deserve. And it's not just the schools making money off of these players. I'm not worried about the money that schools make off of them. Let's take a look at what a company like ESPN makes off of college sports.
  9. You have a 100,000 shares too? That's awesome. I don't pay much attention to stock prices but I would have guessed it being higher than what it currently is. Apple could probably do well with it. GoPro needs some new innovation.
  10. Mow many shares do you own?
  11. Well if they were paid, like they should be, it would be something that you could take away if they did not choose to play. I'm not saying you need to make these kids rich. But giving them some spending money would make a world of difference to them. I know, I know, they are getting their school paid for them. Well not all of them are so that response doesn't work. My daughter also is getting a scholarship. But she doesn't have a job at the school that she's not getting paid to do. She does write for the school newspaper and she gets paid for that. But she also has the time for a real job to earn money that you need outside of a scholarship. Have money to go spend time with your friends. Athletes don't have time for that and we continue to make billions and billions of dollars off them. But if you did pay them you could stop this nonsense. You don't play we don't pay.
  12. You only take one out a day?!?! That would be awesome. Women are trash producers. The girls that live next door have a recycle bin. They put it out there by their trash and it sits there for days and days and days. Then the trash truck guy comes by and dumps it all in with the rest of their trash. I understand the sorting someplace else but then why have the bin. Just to feel warm and fuzzy about it?
  13. They could but that would cut into their sales of new phones. They like it that you break them. Just like everything else you have to keep it backed up somewhere.
  14. Yep. sometimes with a bead sometimes not. sometimes with some extra weight sometimes not.
  15. I think there is going to be a big difference depending on where you are fishing. But I'll give it a shot. Just remember I'm not a good trout fisherman. So this is probably a better list of what not to carry. Pine Squirrel (6,8,10) -black -olive -natural Wooly Bugger (8,10) -black -olive -brown Pat's Rubberlegs (6,8) -black -brown -coffee Eggs (12,14) -various Worms (12,14) -natural or crème Griffith's Gnat (16,18) Soft Hackle (14,16) -Partridge & whatever seems good Scud (12,14,16) -crème -pink -tan Midge (18,20) -black -olive -pink -blue poison tung
  16. My sister and BIL have a boat on the lake. I asked them about that lake wide no wake thing when it was going on and they had no idea. Actually they told me I was wrong. But that's par for the course with Ken and Barbie. If I was as important as them I could be right, but I'm not so I never will be.
  17. True but that goes for just about every product out there that consumers buy. It's all part of their advertising budgets and we spend a lot of money each year paying for companies to advertise products to us.
  18. Ron I used to think the same thing. But several years ago I took a couple of my daughters down to an small Ozarks creek and we found some minnows with a chartreuse back. It surprised me. If I make it through the winter I'll have to get down there and see if any are still around to photograph.
  19. It's impossible to say Metz is the best. That's just a ridiculous statement. I have good Metz hackle and bad Metz hackle. I mean really bad Metz hackle. (Yes I understand the different grades) I also have a Keough hackle that is better than all my Metz hackle.
  20. He was just on Don Berry's radio show. He can do it. I remember fishing a big tournament on Table Rock and threw a blade off a prop. Took it over to the Ulrich guys and they handed me another one and told me to bring it back when I was done. Kelly will continue that kind of thing.
  21. To me fly fishing for smallmouth includes shorts and t-shirts. After that there are more effective methods to catching them or you can just fish for trash fish. You know, trout.
  22. Kelly has always been a good guy, good for him. But with a last name like Power why wouldn't you change the name. How awesome would Power Marine sound. But I understand the value in the Ulrich name too.
  23. Hey I remember when that show used to come on the local PBS Channel. Might still but I don't know. Those guys are a little too "elite" for me. Good looking brown bugger. Did they say big? That fly is not big. I'm not a fan of boogers for smallmouth though and I'd be afraid to fish that one and fish the river out. That would suck. But I do like boogers for trout. Not much more fun can be had than swinging a wooly booger across the top of the rebar hole on Taney. Man that's some fun stuff when it's right. Thanks Mic.
  24. Seems like a lot of racism in the bean world.
