The forecast may not bear it but the TV weather people sure do. According to them you should be building an ark. The over sensationalism of those people is really obnoxious.

I just fish the beach. Been a long time since I have tried the bay. The redfish bite is better in the bay but I don't care what I catch just as long as something tugs on my line. And it's so much easier to just walk out to the beach for a couple of hours. Mostly I catch ladyfish. Which truthfully are nasty. They bleed easily ad they are really slimy. But they are a whole lot of fun to catch. They will jump 5 or 6 feet out of the water when hooked multiple times. Just make sure you have a good strong leader. Those fish have a lot of sharp edges and will cut your line quickly. Last couple of years I've been using 5 or 6 feet of 20lb test for the leader and then 2 or 3 foot of braid for the tippet. These fish don't know what leader shy means. Scoot your feet to keep from stepping on a ray and watch out for the blacktips. Here's a typical ladyfish that you will find.

They are. It's pointless to try and use them. Fish are no longer interested in biting those lame lures.

I've been hearing about the tailwaters at Truman since I was in high school in the late 80's. It hasn't been much of a secret.

I just saw this post from Old Plug, but I don't think I've ever see one startled, much less jump. Wouldn't be anymore damage than a dog or deer. I see a lot of those hits and you would be surprised at how much damage a dog can do. Besides the business I'm in is the collision repair industry so the more vehicle damage there is the better I guess. I don't want to see anybody hurt, and so much damage to the vehicle that it's a total loss isn't helpful either. But a few fender benders here and there is what supports my family.

Living in Republic you are close to a lot of bank/wading fishing. But like ness mentions it would mostly be on the rivers, which is a whole lot of fun. I spent a lot of time in my life in a bass boat but prefer a canoe these days.

Is that where they are moving the ferris wheel to or is that going to be down at your place?

I've caught a bunch of them at night on clousers. Been a long time since I have done that but it works. Didn't the line class record white that Michael Kyle caught come at night? Pretty sure it did.

I go there every year. I take my 8 wt out early every morning with some clousers and catch lots of fish right from the beach. Lady fish, redfish, jacks. It's a good time. Get out there early, at sunrise, and usually fish for a couple of hours. There is some access to the North in Mobile bay. And you can take the highway west until you run out of road and fish the point. Lots of walking out there but still a fun time, Where you staying?
