  1. It is a group of guys that met on OAF and as sort of a joke came up with MFU. It stand for Missouri Fish Unit. It was not to take anything away from OAF or to make anyone here feel inferior. It's just a group of guys that have grown to be great friends and yes there are trips. Usually 3 or 4 a year that are planned and many other trips. I rarely fish with anyone that is not in the group. Not on purpose really, that's just the way it works out. I think we get a bad rap from some but we are just normal guys doing normal guy things. The chances of us raping and pillaging your town are fairly slim.
  2. I think so. Especially with most of the fish pictures that we do see. I've seen plenty of pictures of fish laying by themselves on the gravel, or on a measuring board, or next to a fly rod. (Why is it that when you catch a fish on a flyrod a picture of the flyrod HAS to be in the picture? And keep that nasty thing out of your mouth) If the picture doesn't tell a story it was a waste of time anyway.
  3. I've got $27.53 if that helps.
  4. Let it sit overnight and you are good to go.
  5. It's going to depend on the topcoat you are using. I'm good with overnight on my stuff but I can push it to a couple of hours if I need to. (I haven't needed to in a long time)
  6. I move for no man. (especially not that one)
  7. That's not recent, I cheated. If I'm just making them for myself I always cook it in the cast iron. Preheat the cast iron with the oven. Add some butter and garlic. Carefully drop the pie in (It's starts to sizzle.......that's my favorite part) and throw it in the over. Baked on top, fried on the bottom. I'm fat for a reason ya know.
  8. Okie Dokie.
  9. I'm starting to think that Ness and JoeD are the same guy.
  10. Surprised that anyone is surprised. Look at how many lose to not wearing their seatbelts.
  11. Whaaaaa??? There are no fish on that bank ever. But if you do feel the need to fish it, especially in the spring, fish it all the way back.
  12. Nobody ever has much to say about it. Weird.
  13. My dad had one of those Champions when I was in college. Best driving boat I have ever been in and if I never turned it over then it just can't be done. It was an absolute rocket ship on water.
  14. Yes I do!! I only have a couple of fishing buddies that I fish with that I DIDN'T meet on OAF. And one is my kid. Met lots of good people here and have made friends for life.
  15. Man if I caught a mess like that I think I would be smiling. You look pissed. Nice job on the catching though.
  16. Up until last fall I still had the first one I ever had. It's beat up and the paint is cracked but it just keeps going. It won some tournaments, two big bass checks and it was the last lure my dad ever caught a bass on. I buried it with him.
  17. I agree with that. That's why I've always liked a Poe's Super Cedar 300 crankbait. You wart guys should give one a try sometime.
  18. It's politics, what did you expect? Intelligence?
  19. That's great that you were able to come up with a solution that works. Always give them the chance to make it right. And if they don't? Well then we will burn and pillage. Can't imagine all the crap you've seen being a lawyer. That is not a job for someone like me.
  20. I was thinking about that kind of thing over the weekend. We carried 22s all over the place when we were young. I bet a kid carrying a BB gun today would be subject to a good tazing.
  21. Yours is a little bit different as a business owner. I'd say 9 time out of 10 when I answer my phone it's going to cost me money.
  22. I understand, but there is another way. How about "No I couldn't get your call because I wasn't taking calls at the time". I understand having a phone for work and sometimes you just have to answer it. But I don't make a huge effort after business hours. Wife and Kids, always pick up. Anybody else? Well it's just a crap shoot. If I'm not doing something else and I have time then fine I'll answer it. But if I'm busy then I won't. And I never feel bad about that. I don't want to call somebody and interrupt them so I expect the same thing. But of course I grew up in a time where if you were not at home nobody was calling you anyway. This need to be "connected" 24/7 has not hit me and never will. Oh I have to have my smartphone with me at all times, I like being able to connect to the internet and email. But just because it's ringing does not mean I have to answer it. I have voice mail and texting for a reason.
  23. You can leave it in the car. Can't hear that thing ringing when it's stuck in the glove box.
  24. If this is going to be a success then someone needs to take on the responsibility to make it that way. Not attacking you Aggressor but you can't have a moving date and demand everyone that wants to fish PM you. As you can see it doesn't work well like that. I ran a bass tournament for several years for a large company based in Springfield. The first thing you have to know is that no matter what you are never going to do it correctly in the eyes of some. You have to get over that and just let it go. If you want some success here is how you should do it. 1. Post some rules. Not just here and there and all over the place. Create a document of rules and post it. You can find all kinds of tournament rules online and edit that to match your needs. 2. Set a date and time and stick to it. 3. Show up to the ramp early and make sure everyone can find you easily to register and pay their fee. 4. Make sure everyone knows what time "weigh-in" is and where it is. Some guys are never ever in a million years send you a PM so they can be in a tournament. They decide spur of the moment and just go. Or the weather turns bad and they don't want to go. It looks like you have some interest and have put in some work to get it this far. Take it to the next step and see where it goes from there. It's going to start small but after it's proven then you will get some good turn out. But right now it's just a joke. Nobody knows when and where or if it's even going to happen.
