  1. One thing to consider is the knot. There are some comparison charts showing the percentage a particular knot reduces the strength of the line. There are some knots that are around 100% of the line test (tippet) where others the knots will cut into the line. If the water is moving, you can obviously get away with large tippet. It is the calm clear pools where the fine tippet is needed. 8x is small, but I have used it for the stocker trout at the park. 7x works even on 6lb trout but you HAVE to get them in calm water, you are not going to be able to handle any decent fish in current.
  2. Cattle panels are a great for berries or making tomato rings.
  3. 8 30 rounds magazines, 1 stainless and 7 metail. $111.00 for 8, AR platform in .223/5.56.
  4. I never have had felt, seems like they soak up a lot of water and drip forever. I guess it is a good move if people fish numerous waters. They need to rinse the boots and other gear off also if extreme care is to be taken.
  5. California passed a law making it illegal to throw a football or frisbee on the beach. Why wouldn't Missouri pass a law where people can't use the river? I guess I could understand the California law as Pelosi gets her brother-in-law $737 million for another solar scandal. You would think the central US would be a little more down to earth. I guess they need to ban fishing next? I kind of like everyone floating down the river and taking pressure out of the park and crowding on the spring to fish.
  6. The water could be clear. The fish there see a LOT of flies and can be picky, so you probably do not want to use larger than 7x tippet. I would use flurocarbon. Some use different brands of flurocarbon. So if you aren't catching them on one brand...switch to the other. The middle of the week is less crowded, so always a good time to go. Small flies work better that time of the year. I would recommend stopping by Larry's Fly Shop as they know what will be working well when you are there. There are fish all over the place. I think as with anything in hunting or fishing, if you fish an area where you don't see as many people, the fish are not as disturbed. They are wild even though people crawl all over them in the park. Wet flies will produce a more especially early in the year. It is always fun to catch them on some dries.
  7. Stalking the vehicle for several hours seems funny, but an expired tag is an expired tag. Maybe they were watching other events also instead of just waiting for the owner. Regardless, it is good to see law enforcement out.
  8. Brand new in box, never used. $349.
  9. Awesome job! Congrats!
  10. Nice to hear they are watching!!!
  11. A boat would be excellent if they are generating. Jigs work great from the boat. Scuds, midge, San Juan worms, eggs, sowbugs and sculpin patterns all work. Sometimes color really doesn't matter but ask some of the fly shops or check on here and see what they have recently been hitting.
  12. Radar shows only 4" to 5" of rain in the area, with just a little more predicted. Doesn't look like a blow out.
  13. The storm went into South Texas but the wet side well to the east near Houston only got about 6" of rain with an isolated area getting over 10". It looks to be moving fast so it shouldn't stall out dumping big rains. Areas in South Texas where the storm center went over had less than 2".
  14. Tropical Storm Hermine looks like it will bring rain to the AR / MO area starting on Thursday and Friday. Currently projected to pass to the west, so the east side will be the wet side with more rain. They can do anything once inland and the rain sometimes doesn't hold the dry and wet side as they do on when entering the land.
  15. I think the fish numbers are lower, but they seem to be in big schools so some void areas but where they are in schools there are quite a few. Those areas tend to be where someone hasn't been splashing in the water and the fish feel secure. Typcial trout park setting, the fish get picky but fishing quite and not spooking them works well.
  16. Everyone with cell phones now or tiny cameras...take a pic of that so MDC can see it.
  17. Regarding tippet I like Seagaur or any brand other than Frog Hair. With the frog hair I would have to cut off and tie again after 4 fish or my line would break. No issues with other lines on knots breaking.
  18. Nice retirement company. Just watch out for the law firm of Dewey, Cheatum & Howe.
  19. I logged on too late to see the original title...?
  20. Sounds like a great morning!
  21. I wonder how these ant patterns will work???
  22. I was trying a hopper / dropper and that combo didn't work very well. The usual things were off and not producing. Not sure why but trout are trout and will always feed on something. It seems the sow bugs were the meal ticket recently, although about every fly did produce some hits, just not the every cast as a hot fly will do.
  23. Quite a few people but you could find some areas to get your drifts and cast in. Most would clear out in the heat of the day and load the stream back up in the late evening. Fishing was fair, enough to keep you entertained. It seemed they were either going BIG or SMALL, not much in between. Big dries in #10 got quite a few hits. I could see trout taking some tiny on the surface and threw #26 to #20 to them and no takers in every style I had. When the big flies were thrown, they would take it. Under the surface midge in about every color worked. Slow but there was action. Sow bugs seemed to be the ticket in dark colors. #18 were the best. Eggs were slow but did produce with some stone flies. I noticed some using large streamers were getting some consistent hits. Thread jigs and eggs did produce well for others. The cool water felt good to keep the warm temps regulated. No pics, too hot to load a camera.
  24. I have seen replacement felt soles but nothing for synthetic...that may cost more than just another pair of waders?
  25. There was a truck departing Bennett and left their sewage dump plug open so as they crossed the bridge in the park to leave there was a wet trail leading down the road with a strong sewage smell. I guess it smelled so bad they didn't want to take it home with them so they shared with everyone in the park?
