  1. There is a small shoal across from Monkey Island to watch out for. Stay to the island side by not behind the island. Short creek, just above trout hollow has a shoal also. Stay to the bluff side there.
  2. Fished Barker yesterday evening. Lots of short bass and a bunch of whites busting shad still.
  3. I'm trying to be more active on here. Just been busier than a one legged man in a butt kicking contest
  4. Mallard decoys will work. I hunt them on Table Rock lake. Usually find them in the feeder creeks. If you are where they want to be, they will come in all day.
  5. Getting to be that time of year
  6. Tried a little night fishing last night up by the dam. It has been a while since I have wade fished up there and I was anticipating a crowd. Pulled into the lot by the boat launch right around 9pm and did not see another vehicle. Water was off and I started in the moving water dust above and across from Trophy Run stripping white mink sculpins. Tried fast stripping, slow stripping, dead drifting, and everything in between. Nothing, nadda, zero! Crossed over and went up to right in front of the boat launch. The water might have been knee deep at deepest point there above Trophy Run, but a pretty good current. Water was quite a bit slower across from boat launch and fish were surfacing. Changed over to a black pine squirrel and started stripping fast. Bingo! Fish on! Started getting hits or landing fish on just about every cast. Worked my way up to about 100 yards above the boat ramp just fan casting the water. Most takes came on a faster retrieve and none caught on a dead drift. Fished till about 11 pm and landed 16. If you want to beat the heat and the crowds, try some night fishing!
  7. Water has cleared up really good. We can now see the bottom under the Jon boatsat Lilleys' dock. That means at least 7-8 feet clarity. The water does have a green tint to it, but still great clarity compared to a month ago. Fishing during day is tough off dock, but did have two little kids with parents that have never fished before catch two off dock in an hour mid day two days ago. They were tickled pink. Fishing in mornings and evenings from boat has been from fairly good to good depending on where you are fishing. I've had 4 trips in the last week and everyone has at least caught limits. Most releasing a few after catching limits. From the docks below trout hollow up to fall creek has had some real good days and down In front of the landing has been fishing good. Inflated night crawlers with and without power bait on drift rigs and under floats has been working best. Trout magnets are good in mornings and evenings with pink producing good. A few fish are still being caught on castmasters and Cleos. If your not catching fish, you have to move and find them. Every day a 19-20 incher seems to be caught off the dock or in close range of the dock from a boat. Trophy area, still doing well on scuds, and midges. Two pound line and 3/32 jigs along with 1/16 are catching more fish. 6x and 7x becoming more necessary for midge and scud fishing. water has been off the last couple of evenings and all morning with generation beginning around 1-2 pm till around 7-8 pm. Fly fisher peoples should be taking advantage of the night time opportunity. I have boated up to the narrows and got out and wade fished the whole area all to myself twice in the past week. Stripping pine squirrels and white mink has been fun. Sow bugs and scuds under a lighted indicator should produce well up there!
  8. The fishing can be fantastic at Blunks, but the crazy people are the main reason I try and stay away from there. Seems like there is always some drunk guy hollering at his wife or trying to fight someone.
  9. It fished really well from about 6-8:30 this evening. We boated 20-25 and saw a few others doing good also. Grey and white clousers.
  10. Water was off most of the day today
  11. I fished down there this evening. We caught 5 whites and 8 crappie with only two of them being keepers. The bluff below blunks and Taylor shoals fished the best. A few boats and a few people on the banks but not bad. Saw a few being caught here and there.
  12. This was a great fish. My friend and former co-worker from many years ago, Donald (Butta Bean) Whitelaw, and his friend, Todd Murphy, came down from the STL area today for an extended weekend of trout fishing on beautiful Lake Taneycomo. Donny stopped by the fly shop for some advise and to say hello early this afternoon. I invited them back for a little fishing when I was done with a project I was working on. About 3:30 or 4 in the afternoon, we headed up the lake to the cable at the dam. We did one long drift from the cable down to the narrows. We were all throwing jigs most of the time. Donny kept switching from a jig to a jerk bait and back to a jig again. 3/32 ounce jigs in sculpin and ginger along with grey and white jigs were catching fish. There were a couple of hot spots below the cable to the boat launch that were good. 3 small rainbows were caught across from outlet one. 4-5 more were caught from the lower half of the island across from outlet 2 down to past the tree below the old rebar hole. We picked up a couple of fish from the boat ramp down to Trophy Run and then a few more from there down to below Look Out. We hit a slow spot the 1st half of the bluff below Look Out to the Narrows. The second half of that bluff to the narrows has been a good area for browns for me the last couple of weeks and I was telling Donny and Todd this. I kept the boat close to the bluff and we threw as close to the bank as we could get. Todd caught the first brown and it was about 15 inches. Donny caught the next and it was a nice male about 17 inches long. I caught a small rainbow and was visiting with a friend in another boat that was drifting by when Donny said he thought he had a good one. It was taking line and running up stream pretty hard so I started chasing it with the trolling motor so Donny could gain some ground on it. It finally came to the surface and it was a pig! I had Todd reel in and get the net ready. She came up and dove down a few more times before gliding head first into the net. This was Donny's largest brown he has ever caught and it was great being a part of and watching it happen. View full article

  15. Suspending stick baits worked real slow. Search Buster Lovings seminar on walleye upper Bull Shoals. Lots of good info there
  16. Last weekend the ramp at Beaver had about an inch mud on it and the dock was still under water
  17. I have the Terrova with I pilot and use it on Taney. I like the remote and navigation feature while guiding. Captain Steve Dickey also uses one and likes it a lot . Spot locking is usually not needed on tailwaters but I do use it around the landing while fishing for crappie. The gps takes a minute or two to account for wind and current while spot locking but like I said not really needed while fishing tailwaters
  18. Dock is still under. Launching in parking lot and all the roads that end in water. Room for 10+ boats
  19. I launched at Beaver Saturday. Shadow Rock was gated. Might be able launch 2 boats at kdock
  20. It was fun to see you guys out there. Wish I could have spent a little more time visiting but I had to keep Mr White on them fish. He had a hot stick for sure! We stayed on white 3/32 ounce jigs and white mink flies on the drift rig all day. Boated somewhere in the range of 50-60 fish. Probably 10-12 browns. Biggest was 17 1/2 but they were all chunkers. We spent a lot of time taking photos and video clips. I had a couple of spots from the cable to the boat ramp that gave up pretty good numbers of fish, but the drift from the bluff above the narrows to Fall Creek was definitely our hot zone.
  21. I believe you might be messing up also..... I quit hunting the islands 15 years ago when I moved 4 1/2 hours away from them. Plenty of deer in my back yard to hunt now. Oh crap, I just messed up again?
  22. I use to hunt a river island that is 6 miles long and 1 mile wide. Lots of deer and turkeys on it.
  23. I tied up about 1500 last week and tha was not enough either
  24. Seth, were you in the orange (now I'm color blind) legend? If so, I saw you boat by Phil's a couple of times and thought that was you. You should have entered the Masters tournament. That brown and big rainbow with some kickers would have put you in there. Eric, glad you went up top. Wasn't too bad was it? I was jonesing pretty bad to be up there yesterday.
