  1. How was the wind in the kayak?
  2. I think we are taking Ryans boat. Gonna give it a test run for Sat.
  3. Hard to say, but it's more birds than have been seen all season in this area.
  4. Was wondering if you would end up going today. Mr. Sifford and I will be down there tomorrow late morning till mid afternoon.
  5. Sounds like you're enjoying your birthday. Happy Birthday Buzz!
  6. I talked to another buddy today that said he had seen a bunch of birds flying today also.
  7. The screw head can not be tapered on the under side of the head like a normal wood screw is for counter sinking. It has to be flat on the underside of the head in order not to split the wood at the bottom of the pocket.
  8. The pocket hole system is great. Used it many years on cabinet box and face frame construction. Provides a great mechanical and along with glue, a chemical holding bond.
  9. Got to have bacon. Forget the bread and milk.
  10. Great report! Thanks for sharing and congratulations on that big bass!
  11. Josh, Thanks for sharing your information. I have not gone out and tried it yet, although, I have wanted too. I share my trout reports, where, when, what and how all the time. I do that because I want others to enjoy fishing Taney as much as I do. I have learned that even though the information is shared, not everyone can have the same results. Every day, every hour, and every person is different. I find proof in that in the responses to some of the reports that you and others have been posting. Most people claim they only did so/so after going to the same spots, fishing same stuff. I have also seen this standing near friends while trout fishing. Fishing same spot, same flies, same retrieve but very different results. The only inconvenience has been a few extra people at the fishing hole on the weekends. Phil is absolutely right in expecting a little more feed back in response to the information that is shared on this forum. A thanks for the help/insight/tip goes a long way.
  12. I did nothing but trout fish this weekend. Wanted to chase crappie today but wind rain and hail made me decide to fish Taney again for trout. Witnessed a friend catch a nice bow drifting sowbugs and soft hackles. He worked her for a long time before convincing her to take a swipe at his Fies. I caught maybe a dozen bows on black pine squirrel sculpins before the lightning started cracking all around.
  13. I was looking at some of that stuff today for crappie fishing. The floor leader is a great idea
  14. Fished from 11 am till 5 pm yesterday. It was crowded and cold. Caught fish on zebra midges, eggs, sowbugs, mega worms, and of course stripping olive pine squirrel sculpins. Did best on the smaller flies by using 7x. Caught most fish away from the crowds down by the old KOA campground stripping the the olive pine squirrels on 5x. Might be a bunch of us going on Friday night. Don't know how long I'll stay but will be there for a little while. Some of the originals from the Lake Taneycomo Friday Night Strippers Club will be there. Should be a good time.
  15. If'n I don't make it on Friday cuz ima workin, I'll be there on day 2 for sure.
  16. Stop in the fly shop in Springfield and see if you can get some casting lessons. I'd be happy to spend an hour or two showing you a few pointers on the water.
  17. Absolutely awesome fish and great video. Sure enjoyed watching that.
  18. I was fly fishing, using a white mink sculpin. My buddy and I had the whole place to ourselves??????
  19. Well, how did you do? I fished in the rain last night till about 8:30 down by the old KOA and caught about 35 before I could not feel my fingers anymore.
  20. Great blog and fantastic pictures. I enjoyed it, but thats just me.
  21. I have seen them on Fellows lake also.
  22. Best bet close to Branson would be the 4 Rivers, Schell-Osage area. I've seen quite a few of them up there during duck season.
  23. Sorry I missed you. Fishing got a little rough with those 30 mph winds today. I did not get out there till after noon. Had some starting issues with the truck. Ended up catching 12 to 15 fish today. Nothing real big.
