  1. What is a whackerbill minnow ? Thanks in advance.
  2. Ill see ya on the water Rob. Thanks for the advice 24/7, just looked through my flicker shad collection and not a purple one in the bunch LOL, guess I gotta make a run to town.
  3. Caught these in Mountain Creek casting a wiggle wart parallel to the chunk rock banks, water temp ranged from 52 at the mouth to 55 in the back. Cant seem to find the walleyes, anybody having any luck on them ? I'll be here for a month.I'm in a black and gray Targa 18 with a 115 Merc if anyone wants to stop and chew the fat.
  4. Fish, are you using downriggers or lead core when trolling?
  5. 5 1/2 " suspending rattling Rogue, chrome, blue back, orange belly.Fish parallel to the bank. If you see the buck brush moving, thats the stripers feeding on spawning shad. Im gonna be on Bull in October permanently, in the Oakland area. Your reports on the lower Bull forum have been very informative.
  6. Oh, and if you like to night fish, pound those same areas, slow rolling a Rogue.
  7. Main lake points, especially the ones with the wind blowing in to them
  8. The easiest way for a novice to catch a striper, if you dont have live shad, is to jump fish them. Tie a spook on one rod and a fluke on another rod and look for the feeding fish. Ease into them slowly with your trolling motor. My favorite way to catch them is on topwater baits.
  9. Trolled leadcore 35 - 45 feet down over 100 foot of water with blue/silver and orange rogues, 2 short walleye, 1 lm bass and 1 giant white bass, dont think im gonna fish there in July again, do much better in the spring and fall.
  10. Anything happening down there ? Gonna be down for the weekend. Friends have been saying how hot Norfork and Greers Ferry are right now, so im hoping Bull is too. Ill be in a gray and black Tracker Targa if anyone wants to say hey out on the water.
  11. On Norfork, Teal Point Resort has the best selection of rental boats. Tracey Ferry marina in the middle of the lake also rents boats. Put on a Zara Spook and hit when and where Polar Bear said. I also like to cruise down the middle of the lake and look for actively feeding stripers. Cruise towards them slowly with your trolling motor and then when you get close, turn it off and drift into them. But if youre after a trophy, hire Tom Reynolds of STR Outfitters. Youll be using live shad predominantly but you can also cast artificials for them. I caught my biggest striper ever on my first trip with Tom ( 25 lbs. ). Also, in a half day trip with Tom, I learned more in 6 hours than I did fishing alone the previous 4 years.

  13. I stay at Fish Un Time in Oakland. Pet friendly, 8 bucks extra a night.Smallmouths on crayfish colored hot n tots wherever there is chunk rock. Good idea to hire a guide if its your first time there. I usually go on the full moon in May but this year Im going a week later. I fell in love with this lake a few years ago and plan on retiring there in a couple years. Good luck and let us know how you do.
  14. Did Oakland Marina suffer any dock damage from the snow storm?
  15. ZX., Lou at Hummingbird will do his best to make sure you catch fish. Its a nice, quiet family oriented resort.
  16. If you want to stay at the upper end of the lake, stay at Hummingbird Hideaway, if you want to stay in the middle of the lake, stay at Crooked Hook and if you're interested in the dam area, stay at Hand Cove Resort. All 3 owners are the nicest guys you ever want to meet and will make sure your stay is a great one. Never been there in September, so I can't honestly comment on the fishing.
  17. I usually go in May and October, but I'm going the end of March this year, so I'll update you right before you come down. Ham and mixermarkb ( and others )post excellent reports from here, so keep your eye on this board. I also joined the Twin Lakes Walleye Club and get a lot of good info from them. Also if you want to try a guide, you cant beat Mike Worley. I went out with him for one day and learned what it would haven taken me 5 years to learn on my own.
  18. Black Oak Resort or Fish Un Time Resort
  19. sent you a PM
  20. Were you fishing the main lake or in the creek arms? Thanks
  21. I keep my boat at Oakland Marina year round. Stayed at their motel in July , very clean and I think 79 bucks a night. The owners are very nice people.
  22. When I go with the guys, we stay at Fish Un Time Resort. Never rented a boat there though. When we take the wives, we stay at Black Oak Resort, but I dont know if its within your price range. Ill be down there Saturday for a week.
  23. If they looked like this, yes
  24. My first aluminum boat was a SmokerCraft and my second was a Lund. They were both riveted and both of em leaked. I researched Lowe, Tracker, Crestliner and a few others and settled on a Tracker Targa. I couldnt be happier. The gas mileage is out of this world, cruised for 2 days on Bull Shoals and only used 3 gallons of gas. All 3 of them have Mercuries. The Targa has a 115 hp 4 stroke and is so quiet you can talk to anyone in the boat at full throttle. Cant wait to get back down there in October and actually fish out of it.
