    What's Cooking?

I used to order this at Bayou Bob's on 16th Street in downtown Denver. It was my go to place every time I traveled to Denver. They left the tails on but peeled the shrimp and served it with a few slices of good Italian or French bread. Ima have to try Pete's recipe.
  3. I should be ready to ship by this weekend, if not sooner.

    Was it this recipe? http://www.recipesformyboys.com/2013/12/bbq-sauerkraut-and-italian-sausage-bake.html
  7. I'm looking for suggestions on fly fishing a muddy tailwater. What types/colors/size of flies? What methods? What works best for you guys, in this situation?
  8. Wow!! I'm already having "Fly Envy". My little Hair and Copper Nymph feels kind inadequate compared to the "AK".
  9. DaddyO's Hair and Copper will be my submitted fly.
  10. Dain, You said that you were from Oklahoma. If you are from the Tulsa area, let me encourage you to join up with the Tulsa Fly Fishers / TU 420 Chapter. We meet at the Hardesty Library on the 2nd Thursday of each Month, September - May. We have a very active Facebook page also. Since you are interested in fishing the Eleven Point river, let me point out that Brian Sloss will be our speaker for our March meeting and he will be speaking on Fly Fishing the Eleven Point River. Our January meeting, which is tomorrow night, will have a speaker on Fly Fishing the Roaring River which will coincide with our January outing to the Roaring River on the 23rd.
  11. If Sucker's taste better than Crappie, how do you target and catch them and how do you clean them and cook them? I've never caught one and I've never eaten one.

    Winter Fly Box

I, mostly, fish tailwaters. So my year round flybox consists of Midges, Nymphs, Scuds and Soft Hackles.
  15. Catching fish on flies that you tied cast from a rod that you built. Priceless!
  16. LOL. I'm jealous! You guys have fun and post pics.
  17. It was good to have fish in the river again. I think David was catching at least 2 or more fish to my 1. He was kind enough to give me a shot at his fishing spot. I missed about 5 of them before it occurred to me to check the status of my fly. It seems that I broke the hook off at the bend on the previously netted fly! Tied on another PTN and started catching fish again. As David mentioned, I did stay and fish the Watts area. I probably would've headed back to the Lower Parking lot, but my buddy, Jim, had never fished the Watts area. So, we stayed and fished the Watts area. It was Really crowded. But the fish cooperated. Another friend of mine, gave me a Soft Hackle March Brown that produced some nice fish in one of the riffles. Most of them took it on the swing. Lots of fun.
  18. Mic, You have me listed twice.
  19. Respect to anyone that has the courage to post their own tying video. And, Wrench, I enjoyed the dialogue during the video.
  20. You guys crack me up. Ron, Thank you for sharing your information on your tying methodology as well as your opinion on hackle providers.
  21. I was really hoping that this link would work, mic. I used to like to sit and watch these guys tie flies and talk. The link that I had stopped working. Your link takes me to the page, but the links to the videos don't work.
  22. I REALLY like the looks of those. Very nice tie. Ron, you mentioned that you've developed your own way of tying them that is simpler. Can you share that info with us?
  23. In. Fly TBD
  24. I forget. Do you have to have a daily park permit to fish during Catch and Release?
  25. What Wrench said about the Davy Knot. It's, pretty much, the only knot that I use to connect the fly to the tippet. However, here is an easier way to tie a Clinch knot using your hemostats.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nQs-iL4gHJk
