  1. If you want contour maps go with Structure Graphics. The lower lake maps are 11x16 ,9 pages on waterproof paper. The contour lines are detailed and it also shows standing timber. There are no lat. or long. lines and there are no fishing tips or hotspots on my version . Structure Graphics 636-225-3453
  2. Zebulon Pike small boat under dock.
  3. Thanks ,Martin. Here are a couple of screen shots of the bridge and the old road saved from my 997.
  4. If you can use a computer you can easily figure out a Humminbird.Look back through the archives and you will find a lot of info and some pretty cool pics. The simulator mode is helpful,I recommend a unit with the option of recording to a sd card. With a fused 12v source you can look back at your files and mark structure from the comfort of your couch.Once you get your hands on one of these you wont be able to put it down.Installing the transducer properly is critical to good readings,so be careful with that.Im sure that if you have any questions they will be answered here in this forum.
  5. In 2011 I am going to really concentrate on slowing down. From the time I leave the house until my last cast,I would like to just relax when Im fishing.I also want to put my friends on more fish,It is a ton of fun watching someone land a 5 lb bass for the first time. Have a good 2011
  6. get out there, you will get bit.finese in the bright sun,smb feeding on gravel flats at sunset.not many boats out there, you will be first to fish your spot.if you see baitfish jumping after you cast a spinner, you can bet there are bass nearby. wind will help. this has been the longest fall fishing pattern I can remember in several years.it is lunker time ,big fish hit small lures this time of year.dont be afraid to downsize,be ready to set your drag.Be prepared to be amazed.
  7. interesting pics, sure look like white spots to me.that fish must really travel well.
  8. Thanks for the report.Same thing for us except for one that was a legitimate lunker on a wart way back in a main lake gravel pocket. Here are some smb. pics I dug up First 4 are table rock fish 5 is a NY fish.6 is a local creek bass post some pics of smallie here I'd like to see them.
  9. Found fish shallow on wind blown gravel flats.Cranked up a few when the sun was up,but after sunset and the wind died they really turned on for me.Hooked several nice smallies on a dd22 fished shallow in about 10 fow.really dredging the bottom ,plowing furrows. It was getting dark and I was almost ready to head in decided to try a spinner in the dark .Check out this toad, came out of some brush on a academy brand 1/2 oz spinner.Wish I could get out there today, love it when they are shallow.
  10. PINK FLOYD ,Foo fighters,Peppers,Chevelle,STP Iron Maiden,on the way to the launch. A little more mellow on the way home,Coldplay,Blues Travelers,Big Head Todd and maybe some old school country like Eddie Arnold or Patsy Cline.Sometimes I just listen to what Pandora gives me.
  11. The Canon is a great camera. If you really are a rookie Im sure it will be plenty of camera for you. The setting are easy to understand and the full auto mode will enable you to take good pics at a moments notice. these pics were taken with a t1i 15mp.My car was shot fullauto the hummingbird was shot with manual settings .[keep in mind that these pics have been reduced greatly in size to be posted here]whatever camera you chose,Im sure you will have fun with it.Take tons of pics and you will get some good ones.
  12. There is a good launch in Big Bay run by the Forest Service. It is near some real good water. Some times we will put in at Big M and end up running way back into Big Creek.Keep those batteries fresh, maybe take a couple of extras if you can.I would hate to see you get stuck out there.Depending on the size of your boat there are several other places a guy can put in where there are old road beds. There is one back in Rock Creek.Good luck.
  13. I have to agree with Bill. Having grown up fishing the Finger lakes up north [no dams] where the only structure are different sizes of rock,I was amazed at the timber that still stands in this lake. Why would you need to add to it?I have looked up the locations of these new piles, entered them into my gps and fished them. In my limited experience the fishing near these piles is no better than any natural structure. The money spent on these projects could be better allocated. How about a light or two near the corps launches. Many ramps are in need of repair.Danger bouys are needed in many places. How about a little litter control? The only thing they are doing right is keeping it natural,at least we dont have some brainiac in charge ,making the decision to put some infernal PVC contraption on the bottom. Some people just cant leave well enough alone, sorry Bill.I have confidence that you will still find the fish and continue to give the reports that everyone on this forum looks forward to.They cant cover the whole point,do you think the fish will find a new gravel bar,or just move around on the gravel they have leaving the brush to the crappie and largemouth?
  14. "somewhat silly" may have been a poor choice of words.you can certainly look back through the archives and read plenty of responses on either side of the debate. It is my hope that this topic ends here.

    Horses

These guys [and girls ] are nuts. I had a chance to attend the World Equestrian Games in Lexington with my wife. These horses are incredible athletes. The rider is not allowed any practice and the horse has never seen the jumps until it is time to go over them.Needless to say ,I was impressed.
  16. Don ,do you have any pics of fish on a cable from your trolling motor transducer? I would like to experiment with that setup.Thanks.
  17. Was it a gas powered kicker type outboard meant for trolling?Lots of guys who run walleye have a set up like this.
  18. Now I have made up my mind,I'm going fishing .Thanks RPS.always value your reports.
  19. I wonder if they can lock on to a jetski?wakeboardboat?Dont those pilots know that those watercraft are threats to our nation?
  20. Yes I have seen them.Last year on more than one occasion, down near Roaring River .I feel real safe here and love a personal flyover.USA.
  21. Puppymills are a product of mans greed. There are good breeders out there who take very good care of the animals that they sell.Millions of people in this country dont share your views. They love their pets and provide proper care for them.My clinic is prosperous because people love their pets not because puppymills are still in existence. The whole point of my reply was to illustrate your immoral ideals that a live animal will bring more than a skin. It is sad to think that there are still attitudes like yours. My great grandfather was the only doctor in town at the time,he was an educated man whom everyone loved. He often took payment in the form of livestock that he had no need for.He didnt need another hog so they would be donated to some other needy family .He traveled many miles to do house calls mostly to deliver babies. Every photograph I have seen him in he is with his dogs.Im fairly sure that your pawpaws pa would have respected him. If you think my clinic is part of the problem ,you really are misinformed.Tell yourself whatever you need to feel better. I think I have wasted enough time on this,I have an appointment to keep.
  22. You really are clueless.A puppymill is not a nice place.Like I said before, educate yourself,or is it to late for that.I would be happy to never see another sick and dying litter of pups.Dogs are kept in small cages their entire lives having as many puppies as possible before they die. Some of our work is pro bono but the majority of our clients are paying customers that have house pets.We do a lot of work with animal shelters and rescue organizations.I sure dont make a living treating parvo .If you dont know what that is look it up .There is loads of information on the internet.By the way,if you had a couple of dogs outside the pests you refer to would be scarce.Did your pawpaw spay and neuter his pets, did the coon hounds have their vaccines ?Did they run wild and breed everything in the area,or were they chained to a tree? You can tell alot about a man by the way he treats his animals.
  23. I guess you think you are funny, you are not.I dont have a problem with puppies,I have a problem with people that abuse animals. If you dont know what a puppymill is educate yourself. People like you are part of the problem.I am part of the solution,I own a vet clinic and have to deal with sick, often terminal pups that are sold by these mills.Fox hunting has been outlawed in "the old country" for several years.Educate yourself.Just because your pawpaw's pa did it doesnt make it right.Educate yourself.
  24. so you are saying that you would live trap an animal, sell it to a canned hunting reserve to be killed by a person that is just killing for fun.I fully understand your need to protect your livestock, but releasing these animals to be hunted for pleasure seems a little immoral to me. Why would you contribute to the spineless hunters that have to hunt captive animals? How much does a live coyote or fox bring?I know for a fact that the same people that run a captive killing zone in my area are the same people that own a disgusting puppymill.Do you really want to do business with them?Seems to me that there must be some other alternative.
