Great report, pix and fine job catching 'em!:-)
-
Wow! Nice fish..........I guess we know what your friends will have tied on next:-P
-
Yup, lots of cancellations when we were down. Most smaller resorts are reasonable enough that times like this; one night stay in one of their cheap rooms, could give you 2 full days to launch and fish as much as you want.
-
Yup, thumpity-thump.:-) - good pix and report as usual........safe travels.
-
Double Colorado I meant.........absolutely; get that extra thump in there. (The elements have me a bit clapped out from being on the water the past couple days:-P

A bit of a grind today; but beautiful weather in kimberling city. Boated 6 fish in first hour and a half this morning, before 9:30. 2 keeper largemouth. Caught on the Ned on original shoreline. Rest of the day scratched out 6 more; lost a few at the boat. Fished the flooded bushes some; in hindsight, probably should have thrown the spinnerbait more than I did. Pulled a fat Kentucky out of the flooded bush on the keitech end of the day. (Which is when the spinnerbait thought hit me again......oh well, hindsight is 20/20.........live and learn) - water clarity was about 2 feet with no more debris than any other spring storm. 13 bridge open to car traffic. And can idle under north end of 13 bridge. - I certainly feel for those effected by the high water; but it's not all like what you see online at every part of the lake. This pic below was from just hours ago in kimberling city.

Yup, I'd say that double willow should do some damage!:-)
-
Thanks ketchup, just got it.

It was a bit of a grind.........had 6 in the boat in an hour and a half fishing Ned (2 keepers) on the original shoreline this morning........plucked one out of the bushes with a keitech........I suspect more and more will move in; slowly but surely. I threw a spinnerbait in the flooded stuff here and there; in hindsight, probably not as much as I should have though. Rest of the day took some work to boat a total of 12. Great weather though. Glad I didnt cancel our trip; due to all the gloom and doom reporting. - WARNING: SCARY IMAGE AHEAD - (that pic was from just hours ago. Water looks pretty great to me:-)
-
Yup, and bridge is open to car traffic too.
-
Fished kimberling today; visibility 2+ feet. Little to no debris. Just like any other spring storm. 13 bridge is open to car traffic and you can easily idle under the north end of the 13 bridge. And for those of you who think it's a bad idea to come and fish; stay home. For those wanting to fish; don't run the big engine thru people's backyards. You can easily see where the original shoreline is. Heck........even my iPhone can tell me that. I don't recommend commenting on water conditions if you haven't been on the water. - I've seen drone footage of parts of the lake; but that looks nothing like kimberling city area. Just high water here, with less visibility than normal. And some of these pesky critters..........some.(trying to post pic)
-
Fished Kimberling City today, 5/1, water visibility is about 2-3 feet still; and regular ole small debris here and there, like from any other spring storm. Water is about 934 when we fished. Started at 9:00am to winds gusting to 35+, and windchill 38'ish. Cloudy and drizzle. As mentioned previously, just don't run around wide open like a lunatic and you'll be fine. - Launched from resort ramp and dock. Planned our attack night before to hit some spots out of the wind. Could not scratch ANY fish out of the shallows/flooded timber; no flippin', no pitchin', no spinnerbait-fast and slow, no finesse, no fluke, and not even Ned could help us in the flooded stuff.......not even in people's backyards .......I mean nuttin'!........ No matter how hard we tried. I just don't think the fish have really moved up there yet. So we fished what we know and fished our strengths (sound familiar?:-)........ We fished the original shoreline and out deeper. Ned was a good friend today, for what was a grind. Caught about 12 fish from 9:00-5:00. Only had 3 keepers, largemouth. Lost 2 more right at the boat. Tough to get a hookset on them cause the line just got heavy........and it just felt like we were hung up on a durn stick, so we were hesitant to hammer the hookset. Tomorrow's a new day with sun, 74 and a little wind. Fingers crossed we have a better day. - Can't get under the 13 bridge; here's a pic from the water........sorry for the distance; I didn't feel like getting pounded by waves for a good pic.(bridge is closed to traffic as of tonight too) - All that to say; yes fishing was tough for us, but there's MUCH better anglers than myself on these boards.......and fishing is bound to change. If you want to fish, find a ramp or resort that has a ramp, close to big coves you like to fish and idle over to where you want to and come on down to fish. At least at KC, mud and debris isn't here yet. Good luck!
-
Good question. Water around kimberling city is high; of course. But, no debris to speak of.........wonder if they just kinda snuck the tourney in?
-
Fished 12-5 today; rough go indeed. Ned saved us. About 10 fish total; all shorts sitting the boat on what kinda-sorta was the original shoreline; casting parallel or out deeper. Slow swim, ticking the bottom., then occasional stop. They seem to be in their usual haunts; just with a lot more water over their backs. - Kimberling city; water visibility over a foot; just usual thunderstorm debris in the water so far. Launched from private ramp. Wind was brutal and got cooler through the day; no wind blowing right on banks to be found with what we needed; wind was blowing down them. No good. - no love on any other baits; and couldn't find bites in high water. Had to fish what we know and how we know to get bit.
-
I WAS in the same dilemma as you last night Hunter. Me and a buddy are staying in Kimberling, coming down tomorrow thru Wednesday. Kicked around cutting our losses and not going. But the resort we stay at has their own ramp; and we will just putter along from one cove to the next if we need too. - Plenty of huge coves to fish and I recalled the past few times I've been down with high water have been great fishing!........so we are going for it! (4 hour drive from st.louis)

James River predicted to get 40 feet over flood stage
motoman replied to Phil Lilley's topic in Table Rock Lake
Not sure if I'm seeing the updated river predictions correctly? But does it look like they revised the james forecast to 31 feet? - http://water.weather.gov/ahps2/hydrograph.php?wfo=sgf&gage=glnm7&hydro_type=2 -
James River predicted to get 40 feet over flood stage

Thanks for posting over here Phil.......hopefully the forecast models make a last minute shift for the better.:-( -
I'm gonna keep my good eye on this thread.........Although I imagine it'll be Lake Yoo-Hoo (chocolate milk kinda stuff for you whipper-snappers) when I get down in a few days.
-
Nice report, and good job talking to the young men too..........even if they were the Eddie Haskell types........hopefully they got the message.
-
That's great to hear........smart business practice too. Tons of other businesses would benefit from their example!
-
RATS!:-( - Happened to me a few years ago down there too; crappy feeling. - I don't recall your setup; but I'll be down Sunday and have my backup 24volt motorguide with me in the truck if you need it or need to salvage parts off it. (Just keep it in mind if it will be of any help; although I realize it's days away) I have a 36volt on the boat; but have the backup 24 volt I always bring with me; just in case. - But, for some reason; I have the feeling you might have 5 or 6 backup trolling motor cables in the truck with yah from Kansas.:-P - fingers crossed it's a quick fix!
-
That's impressive stuff...........quite the tourney indeed. Especially to consistently get that kinda turnout for such a long time.
-
Let's hope it's some sort of mis-translation.:-( - If it ends up to be true, it'll be interesting to see if retailers get cleaned out.
-
No biggee; when I'm down there on-and-off this time of year, I've heard some hub-bub about the Tyson tourney being a biggun.:-)..........Best of luck to yah!
-
Not sure about a grocery store; but I if I'm not mistaken, I believe the tackle shop behind uhlrich marine has a ton of goodies? - Any link to the Tyson tourney online? I have always heard people talk about it and was curious of the details.(I realize you probably have to be an employee; just curious about the tourney itself)
