  1. Will also mention that I switched fluorocarbon lines for my jerkbaits from 10lb Berkley 100% to 10lb Seaguar InvisX and I will have to say I am sold on the Seaguar. First thing I noticed was how limp/soft it was compared to Berkley with less memory. Second thing I noticed was the diameter on the Seaguar is a lot smaller than the Berkley. Third thing I noticed is that it has a little more stretch that the Berkley 100%. Fourth thing I noticed is that it doesn't sink as fast as the Berkley. I think it is just phenomenal for jerkbait fishing and will not switch back. Now for my bottom contact baits like jigs and plastics I will still stick with the Berkley 100% Fluoro as I think it has a little better sensitivity and I like that it has less stretch.
  2. Lets relax. It was one weekend out of the year and there are 51 more weekends to enjoy. It no doubt generated a ton of money into the local economy. Sure it was a nuisance but it wasn't that bad. Like someone else said LOZ is like that all summer long so be grateful for the peace and quiet you have 95% of the year.
  3. That is what I found also, afternoon-evening bite was better than morning. Also better find a little wind on a bank or point or its going to be a lot of jerking with no happy ending.
  4. Was in the Jakes Branch for a little bit on Monday and all I can say is WOW as to the water clarity. I'd venture to say on a flat slick water with high skies visibility is pushing 20-25 feet. Got my A-Rig stuck quite a few times in trees and on the bottom in depths around 20 feet and could see my white baits clear as day. Dunno if I have even seen the lake this clear, but around Jakes is ever more clear than in Beardsley.
  5. I guess I should have mentioned I wasn't pausing all the long between twitches. Maybe 5 seconds on average. Really just enough time to reel up the slack, watch the line for a couple seconds and jerk...twitch twitch and repeat. Always hitting it while the bait is dead/not moving.
  6. Fished the Dam area for 2.5 days and it was pretty rough. Had a poor-fair amount of #'s I guess but nothing to write home about and never did stick anything over 3lbs. Was very WINDY pretty much all day Saturday and also in the evening on Sunday. Pretty much stuck to 2 baits, the A-rig and jerker. Mixed a jig in at times but lost confidence quickly when no bites coming in the usual "fishy" locations and the 20-30 MPH gusts don't make for good times throwing a bottom contact bait and the bow in your line is 50 yards on a 30 yard cast. Fished from Combs Ferry to Brushy and almost all success was on 45 degree chunk banks and if there were timber on them made it all the better. Needed to have deep water nearby also and evening (5-730ish) bite seemed to be best for me. Fished some pea gravel but they were spread thin and were small males (mostly Smalljaws). All fish came on a blue bandit Spro McStick and I struck out on the A-Rig and I gave it a workout in just about all kinds of locations from bluff walls, 45 degree banks, pea gravel, chunk rock, pockets, points, timber, no timber, wind blown banks, ranging from 35ft - 5ft of water and a big 0 for my efforts. Tried slow, medium and faster retrieves.....just not happenin' for me. Didn't help that my electronics pooped out on me 1 minute into the trip. As for the crappie I only dabbled in it for about an hour or 2 max in Brushy on the steep side/channel side just to see if they were in Brushy and they were. Caught a few 14"ers just as thick as could be but released them as I wasn't going to clean them and deal with them on my short trip. Caught a handful of 12-14" Kentucky's while going after the crappie. I am sure I could have had my limit within a few hours if going for them but I was just running and gunning down the bank only hitting trees going from the bank into 5-10+ feet of water making a few casts to each spot. Was using a 1/16oz plain lead head with a smoke swimming minnow. If you have some young kids I am sure this would be easy and fun for them as you will catch just about everything going down that bank. Hope this helps and here are a few pic's albeit nothing great like Bill or other guys here 7's, 9's and 11lb'ers. Still a great time as usual on The Rock.
  7. Nice fish!
  8. Agreed, a bit early. Was about ready to hit the bed a little after 10PM on Saturday night and thought a UFO was coming off the lake and I was about to get anal probed. Our place is right on the water in Beardsley. I had forgotten about the bow fishing tournaments and after being blinded and deaf for a few seconds I realized that I was not going to get tractor beamed up into the mother ship. They were annoying all night but ah well. I will sacrifice a few moments of shut eye for the local businesses to make some money and to allow someone to be having a good time.
  9. Yeah. I believe they are fan boats with flood lights on them looking for shallow cruising carp.
  10. Wow. Some nice fish you got there Quill. Always enjoys pics from the trip, makes the report/story better. Thanks for sharing.

  12. Anyone know or have a link to the Lake records for LM, SM and Spotted bass? The recent talk of 11'lbers being caught got me wondering what the record is for Table Rock. I remember maybe a year or two ago someone catching a whopper Spot that was low to mid 7's I believe and though someone said it was only ounces away from the Lake record. Anyone have a link or know the records for species of bass or even other fish?
  13. Banjo minnow even though "gimmicky" is just a nose rigged swim bait so its not like the other monstrosities or silly stuff like Laser Lures, Helicopter Lures and other nonsense.
  14. I have the RC STX and just take them out of the pack and remove the split rings and hooks and replace them with a quality split ring and either a size 6 KVD Elite short shank or an Owner ST-36 size 6 as well.
  15. That is a riot. I also wish it made that whip noise as I would finally be able to detect fish faster than seeing my line going sideways in the water.
  16. Bill just a fantastic report as per usual with you. Will be coming down Friday afternoon and fishing through Monday. Will be running the dam area like always from Long Creek to Indian Point mostly but may stray up to KC depending if we struggle or not. Weather looks to be trending up near the end of the week and weekend and maybe that 3-5 degree boost in water temp is enough to get them going. But if I make 500 cast this weekend and only have an 11lb'er to show for it I would deem it a success. Wow that is an impressive fish on the rock. What is the lake record anyways for LM, SM and Spotted? Anyone know? I will be in an older navy,silver/red Nitro with a 150 XR2 Black Max if anyone is down there. Will be 2 idiots in the boat. If you see me stop by and I'll show you all my rigs that have produced nothing. Tight Lines fellas.
  17. Use the 3" swimming minnows on 1/16th, 3/32nd oz heads or heavier if the wind is blowing harder. Got them from Phil's place (Lilly's Landing). Cricket Creek Marina also sells them at a fair price (got 100ct of smoke minnows for $11 bucks I think?) and they should be able to steer you in the right direction on the crappie bite.
  18. Wayne thanks for the tip. I youtubed it and it Looks good! Will have to give that a shot.
  19. I've always seen the most carp when the sun has been out all day and warmed the shallows up and when the sun starts to go down in the afternoon they patrol the 0-5 depth. Strictly my observations and like I said in another post about carp I am no authority on them. All I know how to do is throw corn out for a couple days to get them to come in to an area and then bait up a treble hook with 3 pieces of corn and throw it out and wait. Fun for kids who can play around the dock until one picks it up and the little ones love to see the size of a 15-30# carp.
  20. Wayne, Sorry I guess I misinterpreted your post. I apologize. Yes, I agree with you that they should do something with the carp, not just dump them in the trash.
  21. Boy I really don't get the animosity towards BPS. I do not work for BPS, nor do I have any affiliation with them once so ever. I have said this before and we have had some posts on the topic before but I will say it again. You can gripe all you want that their prices are too high, their selection stinks, etc. What you can not argue is that they run a clean store, are customer friendly (you can return just about anything if you have a problem and employees are always nice) and Bass Pro probably donates more money to more charities and outdoor organizations than any other outdoor gear retailer in maybe the entire United States. They sponsor so many things that allow kids, anglers, hunters and outdoor recreation people alike to enjoy tournaments and other outdoor activities. I don't intend to be rude but boy I just don't get the bashing on Bass Pro and Johnny Morris. If they don't sponsor this bowfishing event it doesn't happen, the funds aren't there. The bowfisherman don't get to participate in what I am sure is to be a great event for them and the local motels, hotels, restaurants, tackle shops, hunting stores, retail stores, etc don't get a piece of that income that would otherwise never happen. I buy my overwhelming majority of gear from Tackle Warehouse but I do go to BPS a few times yearly to pick stuff up and I will continue to support them. My 2 cents.
  22. There is a ton of reports being posted pretty much every everyday. Just look at what Bill Babler and others have posted lately. A WEALTH of info that should be more than enough to point you in the right direction with everything from baits, depth and types of locations.
  23. I see you guys have those new Save Phace ghost masks. Very nice. Can you see out of those?
