Guess I could add babes and BBQ and make my life complete!
-
Boats. Bass. Beer. If I have those 3 things there is not much else I need (aside from family).
-
I think that will be a problem with this bait. Arms falling off. Going to a titanium wire would be a good idea. I'm sure they could make up the difference in material/production cost with increasing the price of the bait.
-
Any bait that has wire arms is going to get bent out of shape from catching fish. Spinnerbaits, A-Rigs, etc. always have to be checked over for alignment after a fish. The Dub Plopper I would assume it no different. I don't really get some of the "anti-plopper" responses. I mean it's a double buzzbait, which has been around forever, after all. Except this version is able to be killed at any point and will float. To me that makes it a "better mousetrap" than the standard buzzbait. There are a lot of gimmicky baits out there but I don't think this is one. It's just a different style of buzzbait. Sure River2Sea is playing on the success of the standard plopper. They would be IDIOTS not to. Not saying that this double plopper is going to be the next A-Rig but I also don't think it is going to be the next Helicopter Lure either. I still have Helicopter lures btw and only ONE bait missing from the original plano box. I'll trade the whole box for someone that is dissatisfied with one of their dub plops.

That's what we use to load our trotlines when we set them. Grandpa would usually use the 3" "perch" (green sunfish) for the majority of the line. He would always save a few "black perch" of the thick 5+ inch size and put them at the deepest point of the line going for the bigger cats. We never used "pumpkin seeds" as for whatever reason they ALWAYS died off first and were a waste.
-
It's a regional or local thing. You are correct in that local people around Table Rock just lump the green sunfish, longear sunfish and bluegill into one category of "perch" which is entirely incorrect being that a "Perch" is an actual specific species of fish. I believe Bull Shoals actually has "true" perch but haven't ever heard of anyone on Table Rock catching one. My grandfather would call green sunfish "Black Perch" and I do not know why. Maybe because they get so dark when they grow larger and their pigment darkens in the sun when they are up shallow in the warm water months???? Not sure on that. He would also call the longear sunfish a "pumpkin seed" and I am not sure where that came from either but that seems to be a common reference to them on a national level.

Did a search on the forums and found this from awhile back: That is an Ozark Bass, which is endemic to the White River. The Shadow bass which looks very similar to the Ozark Bass is endemic to the Black River. Finally, the rock bass is found in the Northern Ozark Stream and through out the Mid and North US. Other Sunfish Species in TR include:. Bluegill Green Sunfish Warmouth Longear Sunfish Redear Sunfish

Nope. It's 100% a Goggle Eye. I believe Table Rock does have Warmouth's in it but I've never caught one. I think last year someone on the forums did catch one and posted a pic.

Daiwa Reels F/S Reduced! Weekend Special !!!
abkeenan replied to SoInBassman's topic in Buy - Sell - Trade
Daiwa is basically converting all their mid to upper tier reels to the T-Wing system. The new Steez they just released at I-Cast '16, their flagship reel, now has the T-Wing system. The Zillion also has the T-Wing system as well. There is a reason for that....it's a winner. Daiwa still is still making the standard level wind guide for guys that just don't like the T-Wing for whatever reason. Tatula's IMO are the best reel in their price range of $150 MSRP (along with some Lew's models) and can be found new on Ebay for about $94. At the $80 that Rich is asking there isn't a reel that can touch it. Can barely get a BPS Pro Qualifier for that which is a decent little reel but it's not in the same ballpark, or even ZIP code, as the Tatty's. Ohhhhhh mama.............................. -
Can't wait for Ploptober. This year may be double the fun with the dub plop.

That pic is photo shopped. Everybody knows you can't catch anything on a Non-Pre-Rapala Wiggle Wart. Nice try though!
-
Just go buy every Strike King color in the 3, 4, 5, 6, 8 and 10XD models and you should be covered.

That's not what Champ meant and I don't believe anyone here has ever posted pics of fish to be braggadocious. People just sharing their outing with the forum. I know I love seeing pics of other's success. Then again I am a picture book kinda guy and don't like all the letter and words getting in the way. Champ has been one of the top contributors to this forum for YEARS and I certainly wouldn't want him to stop posting reports or pics. Reports and pics can be as detailed or as ambiguous as the member is willing to share. I am fine with either and certainly don't blame anyone for at least keeping A LITTLE to themselves.

Nice report Quill. Good to see guys on the forum meeting up and fishing together. And yes, NuTech gear is the real deal Holyfield. Does everything Bo claims it will do...snags less, comes through cover better and 95% of the time the fish is stuck in the roof of the mouth.

Great report Bo.

Daiwa Reels F/S Reduced! Weekend Special !!!

Thanks Rich! Love me some Tatty's. -
I don't see any pics with our dock in the background. Looks like my rabid gators are working as they should and were a good investment. Only problem is we can't swim off the dock anymore but as long as it keeps you out it's well worth it.
-
Must be tough if not a single person out of the 29 had a limit. That really says it all.
-
It's an older article and I think I found it through facebook a few months back. It certainly made me more aware of what I am doing on the water and at the dock when playing with electric and batteries. http://www.boatus.com/seaworthy/magazine/2013/july/electric-shock-drowning-explained.asp
-
I have limited knowledge of electricity. Changing a light bulb requires me to get out a manual. But I do know that it doesn't take much voltage to cause muscles to spasm/contract and that's the last thing you want while swimming. Sorry to get off topic but I did see an article a few months back about people drowning as a result of boat batteries somehow discharging current into the water around the dock they were swimming around. Causes the muscles to contract and the person just can't move. I guess it's not all that uncommon as they cited multiple cases (although obviously still pretty rare). I didn't even ever think about that before I happened across the article. Water and electric just don't make a good pair.
-
Exactly. I also like a bit of chrome or hologram on my topwaters . Baits that have that "G- Finish" look to them. Another reason I love Spit'n Images as they have that hologram foil thing going on.
-
Not sure I would trust myself making an electrical apparatus, throwing it in the water and having anyone, especially kids, swimming around it.
-
Hahaha. Sorry. Didn't mean to poke to tackle bear. I'm just a sucker for anything that is smoke, white and purple colored. Not sure why that is because I have no ties to K-State nor TCU. Might be an "Ozark's" thing as YUM even has a plastics color called "Ozark Smoke" that is exactly the aforementioned kryptonite color. But that color never works on TR. Never.
-
That's the color I went with as well.

Probably some videos of cutting (fiber) glass somewhere on youtube if you're into that.
