Mmm hhh. Two injuries that will hurt Mizzou down the line. Hansbrough (as I said) and Boehm. Of course, the eye test. If you watched the Alabama game, then you know. Uphill struggle deluxe.
  2. Dear Smallmouth Anglers: Thanks for your input. Your zeal for smallmouth bass regulations is admirable, a credit to Missourah outdoorsmen, and has been duly noted. We are working diligently on your behalf, and the interest of all other of our citizens. It is hard and demanding work, with no easy answers. We will continue to pursue avenues that benefit all Missourah citizens. We thank you for your interest in our wonderful and shared outdoors. Yours, The MDC Team. (Not a real letter) But it will be.
  3. Can a fish see the color of a topwater lure, specifically, the top , or back, of the lure, the part not submerged? From a fish perspective, in the water, the only thing visible would be treble hooks. I seriously doubt that a fish could discern whether the top of the lure was white or black or green or purple or frog or tiger or flaming skulls that say "joeD Sucks." I think we put too much emphasis on color, rather than movement and size. You tinkerers' lures look great, by the way, and I wouldn't hesitate to buy any of them. I'm no different than anyone else. Hence, the multi billion dollar lure industry.
  4. I assume the reason you guys re paint lures is because the colors the manufacturers use don't work, right? Pink works. Who knew?

All good points. However, this is where I disagree and say ya'll are missing something. The key to Mizzou's season is Hansbrough running the ball and staying healthy. Without him being effective, it doesn't matter who our receivers are. Or our defense. Because they will be on the field A LOT if Hansbrough and the O line struggle. Still, should be fun. Unlike the Rams.
  6. Hmm. Mitch had the special lure but you caught the biggest fish. Is there a lesson here? Naw. !4 miles? My butt hurts thinking about it! Well done fellas.
  7. When one is in full camo, including a mock turtleneck, in 90 degree weather, one can become somewhat addled. Since the Castor is chalk full of smallies, keeping some dinks will allow the other fish to grow bigger and faster, making it a better fishery for all.
  8. You can tell she's a nurse by her drink cup.You can tell you're a shill for Mitch Hand Poured Crawdads Inc. by your effusive praise. Advertising disguised as a fishing report? What next? Food recipes and pictures?
  9. But she doesn't do the actual shuttles, nor does she chew tobacco and yammer in your ear. Or, more importantly, have a finger on the fishing pulse of the creek. Glad to hear of her good spirits though. We'll see how long she lasts.

    What's Cooking?

Alternative: Grill the tuna both sides quickly, set aside with a pat of butter on each piece. I do like the addition of grilled cantaloupe. Plus grilled onion or shallot. No tomato. In food processor, put in the grilled melon and shallot. Add honey (not balsamic, a little too sweet), and a dash of hot sauce, salt and pepper. Puree. Add water if too thick. Dollop puree on plate, put tuna on top. Garnish with Italian parsley. Serve with maybe a couple cold fingerling potatoes, and a greens from your garden. American versions of kabobs are a joke. We are better off grilling meats on skewer, yakatori style, than shoving multiple and disparate ingredients on a skewer that have different cooking times and serving it to confused guests, who don't know whether to stab their mouths or eat with a knife and fork. Eat meat on your haunches by your street, drink beer. Repeat.

No, the tuna needed everything else gone. I mean, come on, what ISN"T on the kabob? Look at the picture. What is the POINT of those kabobs? The FEATURED INGREDIENT? Clean, fast, simple. Certainly not a brown sauce for a stately tuna.
  12. No apology needed Clay. If you've seen my posts then you should know I AM the pretentious one. Plus, you should give your respect more wisely. Anyway, no worries here. I can read and understand most things without misinterpretation. Appreciate the thought nonetheless. And that's that.
  13. Clay, I have not fished the lower Wilderness Section. While intriguing, I am getting old and crabby and overweight and I like a bed with air conditioning after a hard day of smoking cigars.. Used to gravel bar camp ALL the time. Thing is, one sees big fish pictures from CC fairly often. I daresay I cannot recall a big smallie pic coming from the Buffalo, on this forum anyway. I'm sure they are there, looks delicious enough.
  14. Lead singer of The Dandy Warhols, in case you're wondering. PM me and I'll give you a contact down there. BTW: Jimmy has passed away, sorry to inform you. OOps. Not lead singer. My mistake. Image from video. Red glasses still rock though.

    You can't stop what's coming.
  16. Hmm. Give it to me and let me check it out. Then I'l tell you.
  17. Camp at the state park and hire a guide. Ditch your yak. And use big baits for big fish. If you are determined to use your kayak, then fish Crooked Creek. The Buffalo River sucks fishing wise, though it is beautiful. But, that's me. I wanna catch fish. You? Is it more important that you camp and use your kayak because that's your plan? Or do you wanna catch fish? The White River will be running hard for the foreseeable future, and a kayak would not be wise to use.
  18. That is a nice fish! If I had thighs like those... Whatever. CC is all about creek height and flow. Snow to Kelly is awesome. Or it was when I was there a while ago. (Mark?) . A float above Pyatt is recommended when the gauge at Kelly is at least 10.5 or more. CC is about fast water when it is hot. We do Snow to Georges Creek . Then Georges to Kelly. And stay at the Carlton Marion Inn because they have beds and air conditioning and showers (that hits your belly if you are tall). Besides, why are you asking us? You guys are way more attractive and have a big smallie taunting us. You know what you're doing sly dogs.
  19. G******** Gavin! Didn't see your post until now. Gave my ticket to someone more deserving.
  20. I have two daughters, now in college. Both have thick long blond hair. And I have picked nits in both of them when they were in middle school. So, yes, it is "picky" Drew. I get your point though. Gawd, picking nits. (A***, my eyes are tired! You're better with the girls anyway. Here, you take the comb!). For the record, I support the MDC and generally think we are pretty fortunate to have them.
  21. Morals schmorals. Not too long ago, a huge subset of our citizens were morally opposed to letting women vote or African Americans go to school with our children. Morality is fluid and generally self serving. Aww, whatever. I was making a semi cynical point of the nature of politics. I would never advocate the MSA or other legitimate organization be that underhanded. We'd get someone else to do it.
  22. Swing! Miss! Just giving you trouble Al. Trying to draw a card to an inside straight.
  23. We ARE talking in a vacuum. Anyway, Pittsburgh Pirates are in town. We're over 30 games above 500, yet, could be only a few games up on the Bucs after Thursday. Fun fun fun. Going Wednesday. Wednesday with Wacha.
  24. Politics are ALWAYS involved when it comes to decisions regarding the public welfare.
  25. After years and years and years of real science and countless studies, what....? We can keep 1 fish over 15".? Great. Awesome. Since we don't know EVERYTHING, we cannot make a decision.
