No, don't buy one. Once you buy it, you have sunk thousands of dollars just to possess it. Then there are taxes. Insurance . Trailer. Upkeep. Pressure to use it to justify buying it. You think it gives you freedom to fish whenever and wherever you please. Unless your monetary funds are unlimited, this will not be the case. It is actually a drain on your family, if you have one. The admonition of "you only live once" to justify spending is childish . Then again, I wish I had a boat.

The ratio, I'll wager, is quite small. S*** happens.

Everything that has been said is correct. The problem is our myopic and questionable dissatisfaction with our streams. Always thinking things could be better. Maybe this is as good as it gets, and we’re barking up the proverbial wrong tree. Love the one we’re with, instead of constantly comparing and erroneously thinking we’re somehow falling short.

Most of the reasons for this forum are for users to find out where to go and what to use to have fishing success. No one wants to hear that the key to angling excellence is hard work and simple persistence.

Nice fish. Quit humble bragging and deflecting compliments, young man. You guys are accomplished Missouri smallmouth anglers and know what you’re doing and have earned your success. We can talk about tackle and where to go’s all day long. The people who catch fish go fishing.

You guys talk about inches and pounds and catch rates and governmental regulations and otters and erosion and gravel mining and gigging and unscrupulous fisherpeople and everything else that somehow prevents us fishermen from realizing our potential, and our Ozark streams from producing both numbers and size of smallies , as if it is OUR FAULT that OUR STREAMS are somehow LESS than THEY COULD BE. Our streams are perfect. You have beauty in front of you. Quit complaining about what is wrong, and go fishing and show us what is right.
