  1. In reading other posts about inconsiderate people fishing too close, acting like idiots on PWC's, making tsunamis to wake-board on, etc., I am grateful that I live in a country in which we are allowed the right and privilege to openly post our thoughts on great forums like this one. I am also most grateful to those men and women who serve/have served in our armed forces, many making the ultimate sacrafice that have made it possible for us all to do so. I am glad we have a day set aside to pay tribute. Thank you, Veterans! ...Dave

  3. The Nebraska Rig – sometimes referred to as the “Nelson”, is a torpedo shaped jerk bait, with a large bill, painted to look like an ear of corn, attached to a bottom-bouncer. When used in tournaments, you have to be the last to “weigh-in”. Warning: this rig has been outlawed in 49 states, due to lop-sided windfalls. Heavy equipment recommended as large kick-backs can occur.
  4. I think we should have an "A-Rig Only" tournament in Aunt's Creek. That's where all the fish are......

I believe I injured mine teaching girls to fast-pitch softball. I coached for high-school 7 yrs and travel-ball for 7 yrs. With all the rotator-cuff exercises I had my girls do to avoid injury, you'd think I would done some myself.... another too macho or too stupid thing. Had to retire from coaching after getting my knee scoped from injury teaching girls to catch my pitchers.... they shoot horses, don't they? JB is right. They've come a long way in repairing damaged joints. You did the right thing in seeing a specialist if you can't lift grocery sacks to the table. The deciding issue for me was when I couldn't fasten my carpenters' belt behind my back. Good luck with yours.

As with any injury, recovery will depend on severity, so recovery time "may vary with use". I had rt. shoulder rotator-cuff surgery a year ago January. Since the surgery was minor by comparison, it was done arthroscopicly. I was told it would take one year for the joint to return to the same flexibility I had prior to surgery, and they were dead on. Rehab will certainly help (I'm told). I am either too macho or too stupid (poll to be published soon) to go to therapy. I went once to learn the exercises and did them at home.... sometimes. Good luck with yours. I have not been sorry I had mine scoped, as I am now pain-free and able to "cast again". I just need therapy on where to cast!
  7. The last time my daughter came down and went out fishing with me, we got into a bunch of shorts. She wanted to use a marker to put a dot on them to see if it was the same fish we kept catching... ;>)
  8. HEY! I recognize that guy holding up that fish!! That's Tim's neighbor...Wilson...from Tool Time!
  9. ...and don't let Techo tell you Aunts Creek is near Viola.....
  10. I thought all the walleye were in Aunt's Creek...?....
  11. Okay, In my small mind and compact way of thinking..... it would seem to me that the variables would be boat speed, chart speed, and depth. (This, of course, would be discounting things like fresh water vs salt water, clear water vs cloudy, etc.) I would think that if you change any one of the three variables, it would affect the output (image seen on the screen). Perhaps Doug is just saying that if the image is not clear and crisp for the depth and typical speed your boat travels while using SI and DI, change the chart speed. Doug? Perhaps HB's next break-though would be a system that would automatically acount for these and provide a sharp image all the time. But then dummys like me would expect to see a picture quality image with the boat sitting still.....
  12. Fortunately, I had my boat out of my slip when the high water came in and stranded our dock. I've used the ramp at the Shell Knob bridge and can confirm the courtsey dock was usable. I did, however, see a homemade, plywood sign with an arrow pointing down stream that read "Free Beer at Aunts Creek". BTW ....does anyone know how to get spraypaint off fingers?
  13. That's what goes on in my boat. Just not sure about the intelligent part....
  14. That's a Beauty!! ...fish ain't bad, either.....
  15. Do you think they'd notice if a 3 pound battery was duct-taped to the side of it?
  16. I'll be out all next week as well, with my Dad. We'll be the two guys in a gray and white Lund, pretending to fish, in the Viola area. I'd like to compare notes with you Techo after the week is up, but you have all the advantage..... everyone knows all the fish are in Aunts Creek !
  17. …okay…. Now I’m really confused. While heading up the White I came to Point 9 and, tied to the marker sign with baling wire, I see a chuck of plywood with "Aunts Creek"”spray painted on it, and an arrow pointing due West. Curious as I am, I continue on up the White and see the same sign at Point 16, 19, and 21. At Point 22, same sign, ‘cept it’s pointing due South. (Can’t stop now!) At the breaker –buoys near the marina, I see a sign that says “Welcome to Aunts Creek”….? Close examination of the attached plaque says “Billboards by Techo”. What’s that about?
  18. Okay... so if I was in 15 FOW, in the cove just off the point across river from Kings Harbor docks on the Kings, at 6:00 am, a week from tomorrow.....
  19. I'm going to keep my feet out of the water if TR has monsters like that in it!!
  20. Good advice, RPS. There's no fish at SK, Techo.... keep moving....
  21. Billfo, Without knowing exactly what type of lift you have, the following assumes you have a newer one that's attached to the dock at 4 places, two on each side, and then swings up and down for a parallel lift. If you have something else, then maybe you can take some of this and make it work. This is only my opinion (not in the business) and what worked for me. I'm responding because I have a Lund like yours. (I'm from Lincoln, so we're neighbors.) I bought a new lift two years ago and its design doesn't allow depth adjustment, at least as installed. I could add chains, but prefer not to have my boat sliding on the bunk boards as I come in and launch. My bunks are the poly type without carpet. They claim they won't scratch, or at least less than carpet with sand in them, but.... I, too, use ropes. They are made to equal lengths with locking J-hooks on the boat end. Upon entry, I attach them to the ski-pull eyes on the transom, start the lift and push the boat back from the bow, centering the stern. I put a dot on the dock at the center of my slip for reference to visually center the bow. This process centers the boat in the slip. You'll want to make sure your bunks are centered to the slip, and spaced properly for your boat. Repeating the above... setting like trailer is good advice. (Don't forget about the transducer when making adjustments.) My lift has riser guide posts covered with PVC pipe. My ropes have loops that I slide over the posts, allowing the ropes to move up and down as the lift moves, while keeping the boat centered in the slip. If you have to tie to the dock, I would think adjusting the length of the stern lines will be by trial-and-error: depending on where they are tied to the dock; where you attach them to the boat; and where the boat needs to sit on the bunks. If you tie the ropes to the dock, remember that your boat will rise, or at least should, so plan accordingly. If ropes are tied too low and too short, you could either damage something or prevent the lift from rising. I would think you'd want to tie off at a point higher then the boat tie-off point and be long enough to allow the lines to go slack as the boat rises. Another important thing to consider is the direction in which the lift moves (swings) as it rises. Tying to the dock on the opposite side of the swing could cause the boat to be pulled on the bunks until it rises past center of the swing.... again, all depends on where you tie. I am no expert at this, so if I've offered any advice here that is off base, I hope someone here will jump all over it, and me.
  22. Sorry.... Meant RVR (Rock View Resort)
  23. Greg.. are you the same owner of LVR as of 20 some years ago? I think that owner was from Grand Island, NE ???
  24. I have a Lund just like that, only a different color. Many folks at TR have commented on how "safe" the boat looks. Reading about the waves going over Bill B.'s front deck make me glad I got what I got.
