  1. Bill, I an interview Mike said he was letting the jerkbait sit for 8-10 seconds. One cast can take a long time with that method. Bill did it seem like he was letting it sit that long when you where watching him? KVD on the other hand said he was letting it sit very little between twitches but not reel it in very much at a time. So I guess I learned that you can use the same bait with radically different methods and still be successful.
  2. Thanks for the info. I appreciate the words of experience.
  3. Nice report. A good topwater bite always makes for a lot of fun. Do you have any tips on getting the fin to ride high on the water? It seems like mine whats to dip just below the surface.
  4. The one that got a away went around 10 pnds What are those GPS cordinates? "somewhere over there" Since when is a fisherman supposed to be accurate with numbers?
  5. Nice report. Somedays it is just doesn't happen.
  6. Nice report with pictures. I am looking forward to a good Spring.
  7. Nice report. I appreciate you taking the time to post pictures. I enjoy the reports with pictures the most. In the past I never took the time to take pictures while I was fishing but I am starting to realize I should have. My next trip I will try to post some pictures.
  8. I went out with a buddy on Saturday looking for the crappie. We started working out way towards Flat creek. We picked up 7 keepers on the way, scattered on the flats and 1 in Flat creek. Caught them all on the swimming minnow. We only had 2 shorts all day. We saw the conservation dept putting out nets. I assume their intention was to catch spoonbill and harvest their eggs?
  9. Interesting article. Thanks for sharing.
  10. I have the mirrored ambered 580 and like them a lot. I can see a lot better in the water with them but also the fall follage colors are amazing. The colors really pop out. One thing I disliked was that they fit a little loose on my head (I dont have a large head). So I got some little rubber bands that my son wears on his braces and slide them on the arms of the sunglasses and slide them in the seam of the hinge. With the rubber bands being in the seam of the hinge it does not allow the arms to open as wide and gives them a little tension that holds them better on my face.
  11. Wow James that is a nice fish. What did it weigh?
  12. Snakem congrats on your success yesterday. Any words of wisdom on the pattern, bait, etc would be much appreciated
  13. I have a pair of Fathoms that I like. They allow me to see deeper into the water, which can be helpful around the spawn. Does anyone know how to tighten the ear pieces so they fit tighter?
  14. I fished out of Baxter from 9-5 on Saturday and drew the big goose egg. That was a long day and only walked away puzzled. The last few hours the clouds rolled in and the wind picked and thought I could pick up a few. That did not help. I would be interested to find out what the magic pattern was on Saturday.
  15. I usually dont have a problem keeping my core body warm when I use layers. I struggle the most with keeping my hands warm.. I have used handwarmers but not real practical when fishing. Anyone have any tricks to keep the hands warms? Also when running down the lake in the cold I want a hood that zips up so that only my eyes are showing. I usually wear sunglasses to block my eyes from the wind. Some guys wear a motorcycle helmet with a face shield.
  16. what color Bandit was you throwing?
  17. Champ, That was a nice post. I appreciate all the guys on here that are willing to take the time to enlighten us less experienced anglers. I am not a tournament fisherman, so I am pretty open with my info for anyone that ask me (the way I have fished lately the only thing I can tell them is what not to do). I just enjoy the experience of the hunt and being in God's creation.
  18. How well does it throw a Pop R
  19. Fishinwrench, I will check the oil reservoir. The alarms usually goes off when I running down the lake (I usually go around 40 mph) and the rpm's are around 4000. The boat is not chine walking. The side to side action occurs when the boat goes through someones wake or the wind has blown up some waves and boat tilts slightly. I don't get the alarm when it is idling.
  20. When I am going down the lake the I hear a loud pitch chirping noise when the boat is tilting from side to side. Is that the oil sensor? I have about a gallon of oil left in the tank.
  21. I fished the Cape Fair area on Saturday and found some whites busting the top. I ended up catching little bit of everything on the swimming minnow.
  22. RTM on that particular model not sure where your access is but yes you should have access to the tank. The tank will have a metal cap that screws down to the top of the tank. The cap have a wire that attatchs to it. When you take the cap off, the sender (float) is attatched to the bottom of the cap. It may just be stuck up in the up (full) position.
  23. Bill do you know what depth it is at?
  24. Bill how do you know what depth you bait is suspending at?
  25. I fished out of Cape Fair yesterday and caught 8 shorts on the shaky head. It was a slow finesse bite. I threw most everything else with no luck. There was a lot of fog early in the a.m. and I thought the topwater would be going but the fish thought otherwise.
