  1. Nice report, what # test do you use?
  2. What, afraid to go for a swim? lol So would you extend your argument to anyone using less than 10lb tippet at, say, Taneycomo? (if memory serves correctly, the state record trout were caught on UL and 4 or 6lb, right? The brown was over 30 pounds, eh?
  3. Oh, hogwash.. I've sat n my boat at the spring hole and tossed minnows to 2-3 lb smallies who not only put up a good fight once, but come back for seconds and are still there the next day, chasing my minnows and peelin off my drag.. These fish don't live so long by being pansies, Eric.. Now what about my other question? "So a 20 inch smallie is equivalent to a 10 lb trout in terms of break-ability? "
  4. So a 20 inch smallie is equivalent to a 10 lb trout in terms of break-ability? If your just worried about losing the fish, you could always just use dynamite instead... Me, I like a fight... But I can't say I've ever spent over 5 minutes fighting a smallie in..
  5. Boy? BOY!?! Oh, okay then.. Since ya put it that way.. Jason, ignore my advice and take the advice of the city slicker.. Matter of fact I say step it up to a 17 lb test on a medium action rod, take ya some 10 inch purple worms.. Don't forget your net! As long as you remember that smallies are the best tasting bass... What's the daily limit down on those two rivers, anyway?
  6. Really? Coulda fooled me, I've never actually used a bass rod when hunting smallies.. UL uglystick and 4 lb test.. Just set your drag right and let em fight..
  7. Well, allz I've gotz to say to that is: It is what it is. Deal with life as it comes and put a smile on your face. Once you learn you are too small to make a difference, you can start making a difference. Sorry, couldn't resist.. FLAME ON!!!!
  8. 1. Moon Valley Public Access, upstream from Bennett. Warmer water, the water level is low right now so you should be able to wade upstream to a few pockets full of fish. 2. Hazelgreen Access of Gasconade river, just after the 145 exit of I-44... Should be plenty enough fish right there under the bridges to keep you busy for a few hours.. My best day there is well over 100 fish.. The Goggleyes are huddled in deep holes adjacent to swift water (next to the bridge pilons), the smallies are most active out in the open riffles, chasing crawdads.. Good luck. Come back to this thread and give us a report, eh?
  9. Details, diagrams, instructions?
  10. Hmm.. Of course I was just joshin' about knowin the guy.. I'll check with an agent about the legality of seining a private (non-MDC stocked) pond.. I'm relatively sure you can do whatever you want though. By all means, disown/disavow/ex-communicate him from your prayer/sewing circle. Still just means that facebook is the devil.. lol
  11. I know the guy who took that picture.. They siened a private pond for a fish fry! Musta fed 50 people that day... Why couldn't anyone here jump to THAT conclusion? Hating is just human nature, that's why... (and no, I don't keep bass.. But mainly cause they are wormy and I don't wanna clean em) One things for sure, add the OP as reason #462 that FACEBOOK IS THE DEVIL!
  12. Wow, neat trick...
  13. Sure, the one thing you know I can't just "pick up"... lol Good on ya, Bluffboy.. Do what you can when you can, with what you have.. Happy trails
  14. Looks like a great buy!
  15. I tried but failed.. Mt Creek only charges a few bucks to take out, it's literally just around the corner..
  16. I think I've posted this before, but it does seem fitting on fathers day.. (hope wheat don't mind my piggybacking his thread) associated artwork: http://s781.photobucket.com/albums/yy91/FishinCricket/?action=view&current=2882a724.jpg&evt=user_media_share Awe, how sappy.. lol Reminds me of something Sam Clemens supposedly said once: I'm exactly the opposite, oddly enough.. I grew up thinking my father was a God (he did a great job convincing/brainwashing me..).. Now that I am a grown man I realize how strange/abnormal our life was and how horrible I was being trained to be, honestly I'm just glad I made it out in the shape I did.. Fathers day is yet another holiday that I have little use for.. lol SOOOOO... All you good dads out there, LOVE YOUR KIDS AND HAVE A GOOD FATHERS DAY!
  17. I like Thom's reply... Quite comical, I would have been more cynical with my "no", but he did it just right.. lol what does that part in bold mean, then? That Thoms simple answer is most correct? Ah, capitalism at it's finest! Gotta love it....
  18. Sure, all in fun for you, Phil.. But it's torture for us! Some of these guys would like to drown this guy! You're a cruel man, lilley.. You should have video-taped yourself walking out there and dunking the idiot.. Now THAT I would chuckle at... Ooops, sorry pops... lol I thought I said it low enough that you couldnt hear me..
  19. Yup... A seperate suggestion (based upon the thread title, and not to take away from the BBQ joint) is the Sand Springs restaurant.. Great food and great service, even just soup and salad bar is awesome!
  20. I dunno, I'd hate to be seen as "preaching" or presenting a "holier-than-thou" attitude to folks who are most likely collecting dinner for the week... You sure we can't just stay here and whine anonymously?
  21. I gotta ask: how do they enforce that, exactly? I could just see myself getting ticketed when, in reality, I'm just clumsy and unsure of my footing.. You know, like if the agent was having a bad day or something? You think they have to video you in the act or something?
  22. I agree... Furthermore, some of you fellas don't have far to go until you're shufflers too... Think about it, when you get real old you can't: Cast very far Walk very well Tie and tie-on small flies Travel to remote northern blue ribbon locations
  23. Never know, maybe he was pullin' double duty...?
  24. Al, I wondered where I recognized you from... "Avon calling..."
  25. Just for clarification: do you believe that the resources you proudly consume are infinite?
