  1. Didn't get one but it seems strange that it would come from the university and not mdc. Hi Tief, thought you had hibernated for the winter.
  2. back to sports-next unread topic
  3. It is difficult to shoot them here at loz because they have a tendency to float into the main channel and be reported by some tree hugger who thinks they can prove who shot it and insist on a full investigation by the water patrol and mdc. Occasionally a few do expire from acute lead poisoning.
  4. Open season on blue herons would be at the top of my list. I'd pay good money. great idea Tim.
  5. Not saying yea or nay, but I would think you would have to include other activities in addition to fishing. Trapping, wading, rock throwing, canoeing, and hiking would be a few I could think of. More or less an "off limits" during a certain time period.
  6. A former state record brown trout was caught below powersite in 96, and I believe it was in the month of November. Use to fly fish for whites and walleye in march.
  7. Wild trout do not spawn until spring, as the water is warming up.
  8. Did you count that dead fish in your daily limit?
  9. Tigers were about 4 lbs each, and the muskies were 6 to 7 lbs each. Harv caught his fish on a crawdad fly that he was tying back then. I hooked up with the muskie on 7x and things went well until he ran thru the moss. He made a full body jump right in front of the guy downstream, and the guy yells, "wth was that?" It was a fun time.
  10. Well jd, I am guessing they don't like the sun shining in their eyes while they take a poop.
  11. Two tiger muskies, and two muskies were released in the bridge hole during winter c and r. I hooked and lost one musky, and Harv, from this website, hooked and landed a tiger musky. Most times they laid up in front of the bridge columns.
  12. Did you ever notice that all problems at t-como , seem to originate from outlet fishermen.
  13. in Oklahoma it is called jigger fishing or doodlesocking. an ancient art form similar to cane pole farm pond.
  14. Welcome and glad to have you Winchester. The fact that you are Micheal's brother, will not be held against you on this forum.
  15. heavy snow at the lake all morning. Wind is blowing so hard, that it is impossible to tell what on snowfall totals.
  16. Dang. Bundle up and be safe drew.
  17. Bssp is introducing a very select, midget strain, of rainbow trout. They are trying to take business away from some of the more popular blue ribbon trout streams. Their new multi-million dollar rearing facility allows them to raise hundreds of them. As evident of what you saw yesterday.
  18. in years past, it was open every day during the winter season.
  19. Lots of good advice. More big rainbows are caught on purpose than by accident. Sight fishing as fw suggested. More are caught on small rather than large as gavin says. There are fewer in numbers just about everywhere you fish as greasyb states. Unlike browns, rainbows like most offerings presented at their level in the water column. Learn to look into the water rather than just at it. And as Phil stated, a good jig fisherman is hard to top. Wade fishing is the most effective when it comes to sight fishing. If I were limited to a boat, on the white river, I would throw jigs. Rainbows generally are not chasers like browns. Change up a few of your tactics and we will be looking forward to your report back. But I must admit, that if I were catching big browns consistantly like you guys, I would be hard pressed to go look for a rainbow.
  20. That is great news. Thx Wayne
  21. I would like to think that larry's closing is just a rumor and not accurate info. He has been a fixture at the park for a long long time. How long has he been there Wayne? I could not say for sure.
