  1. trust me, i have landed hundreds of big fish with gentle persuasion, and it works.
  2. In response to ruthead, landing a fish is more of a gentle persuasion, and not the normal bend me around backwards, drag me into the shallows, and get a quick unhook so I can do it again as quickly as possible.
  3. you and joed been drinking out of the same bottle
  4. I hope those two experts were not related. I am leaning more towards the "grab your ankles" drill.
  5. I can include myself as one of the old timers, but we, the old timers, would always break a fish off that was not hooked in the mouth. No hesitattion, dont worry about what fly is attached, break it off immediately. some try to say well they dont know if it is fair or foul. that is bs, you know.
  6. if you leave them on a stringer long enough, they change colors and are hard to distingish from any other dead and spoiled fish.
  7. a good guess would involve being snagged, wrestled to submission, and possibly drug over the rocks to make it easier to save a dollar and a half fly. Add a lowered dissolved o2 to that equation and you have stupid stupid stupid dressed up as a sportsman and angler extrordinare.
  8. as in the park, they will grow up to be 11 inch monsters
  9. From the boat ramp downstream could become a no wading zone.
  10. Maybe a no boat zone would make more sense
  11. Large wakes are an issue for the wading fisherman as well. Most boaters that come above number 3 outlet have a tendency to plow upstream like a wake boat on loz. If you are waist deep and in their wave path, you get your elbows wet plus knocked off balance if caught off guard. A no wake zone would work well above number three.
  12. Nice report Micheal, sorry I missed you guys. One thing I always look forward to, is reminising with you guys at the creek. I was able to fish about 5 hours each day on thurs and friday with some breaks thrown in. I was wanting to fish after dark, but was unable. I had pretty much wore myself down during the day. Next time I will skip the daytime fishing. Hope to catch up with you on the next trip.
  13. I just stopped in at charlies fly shop on my return trip from taney. Charlie told me that Larry Piece from Larry's Sporting goods said he would not open for the upcoming season. I first thought he meant winter season, but not the case, he is talking about the regular season for next year.
  14. You know, I might just drive to st louis to trout fish this winter. I think thats a plan.
  15. The urban stocking program will be a good thing this season. People wont have to waste their time and gas money to go to bssp.
  16. ths tim, I thought maybe that was the case
  17. I have told this story before, Caught a nice brown at crane creek that had to come from some where. You be the judge.
  18. My advice would be to drive another 76 miles and go to montauk.
  19. red and even green lights are the ticket. I see guys running around half the night with those two colors and they always leave them turned on. They surely must be catching al lot of fish on them two colors. They must be catching fish every cast because they leave them on the whole time they are fishing. I think I will stop at bssp and buy both for the next trip.
  20. Roland Martin is a master of the ph meter and predicting the thermal incline. I have watched him take all them samples, and then throw a big ole shiner in amongst a bunch of lilly pads. PRetty soon he comes out of there with a big ole bass. Works every time. You should watch that show more often there FW.
  21. I always had trouble catching fish with all that ice floating around in the lake. It aint quite freezin here on the upper end as of today.
  22. since triploids will not spawn and move into the upper lake, I see several marine dealers with their end of year specials on boats. It would be an excellent time to buy a boat and fish for them triploids down around the bridge piers. That's where I will be spending my time.
  23. thx Phil, yeah for triploids.
  24. In response to exg, I have witnessed a lifetime of improved hunting and fishing opportunities provided by our mdc.
  25. The catch fishermen will still have as many fish as ever. The rainbow population will be the same. Chances are they did not catch a 20 inch brown to include in their limit with any regularity. Probably mostly took home 4 rainbows. I do not think that the catch and keep fishermen would suffer any reduced fishing success. Plus, like everyone else, they would have a better opportunity to catch that fish of a lifetime in the near future.
