  1. @foghorn Always glad to not be the newbiest newbie on the creek But I left it with the weekenders. Too crowded for this country girl.
  2. What is the best (inexpensive) polarized glasses, and where can I get them? How much? Mind you, I usually buy Bill Dance for like 12.99.
  3. @foghorn Not putting on much of a show. I've caught several ranging from 1 1/2 to three pounds. And by several I mean less than a dozen in 2 trips I swore I was gonna stay away from #1 outlet, but I resorted to go up there to catch a couple dinks. Turns out one was probably the second biggest of the day.
  4. @motroutbum Numerous times I tried to get him to go out with you, especially NZ. Two problems with that--he doesn't fly and he's very much a homebody. But he enjoyed following you!
  5. So, if I may share a comical story. I'm gearing up this morning and decided I'd put on my waist waders so I can get a little deeper. As I'm slipping into them, I get them up to my knees and then they were harder to get in from there. I finally get them up to my waist and I can't even get to my phone. I'm thinking, geez, I thought I lost a couple pounds! So as I'm peeling them back off, which was a trick, I'm thinking what in the world....Then I realized Brad used "dad's" waders for the memorial. Well he had actually taken mom's. And I was trying to fit an extra 50 pounds into Rick's waders. Wasn't happening! Thankfully I had also brought my hip waders, or I'd be wet wading this trip. 6. And so my fishing begins. This fish was caught on the fly Mike Marriott gave me. Thanks buddy๐Ÿ˜˜
  7. @grizwilsonLoved it!! Rick had packing for trips down to a science. Never needed to worry about the net not being on him. My first solo trip was a disaster. Cooler of water? Nope, forgot about that. I get to the creek and wonder why I'm having trouble seeing fish. Of course. I started driving with glasses instead of contacts. But I can't wear those glasses under sunglasses. Screwed. Hope one day I'll get everything right. Today will be the test. I'm packed up, so we'll see. @trythisonemvI broke one pair of polarized sunglasses. If you have extras, maybe bring a pair?

  9. @grizwilson Thanks for taking the time to read his story. As Laker67 indicated, after he reached a certain number of lunkers, he left goals behind. But he still kept very accurate records He loved to fish, but I think he started to like visiting fellow fisherman and watching me fish more. It didn't make his book but one of my last Taney memories of him was trying to get his attention while he was up at the top of #1 outlet gabbing with Marriott and a few other guys, and maybe a park ranger. I didn't carry a net. So I'm in the creek, my brother has a nice rainbow on, and Rick can't hear me yelling for the net. I started running out of the creek to get it. Well, we all know how that ended up Thankfully nothing hurt but my ego.
  10. @trythisonemv I'm gonna start with 4. But if I change it'll probably be to 6
  11. @vernon How close does the camera have to get to see the spots on the bass? That's a lot of clarity for colored water.
  12. Keep in touch by phone. I won't have my computer with me.
  13. Headed to Taney!! I think I'll start way below the outlets. I hooked my biggest one and lost him on the rocks below #2. I have a score to settle You guys save me a big one or two.
  14. @micYou picked my favorite section simply because that was so uncharacteristic of Rick, yet the playful side did come out occasionally. Sandy
  15. @Deadstream It should be on B&N also Sandy
  16. The podcast is also on his FB page. Sandy
  17. Hey, y'all!!! The podcast is up and running!!! I love reliving this Sandy
  18. @JestersHK--Rick's publicist would like to use your comment on his author's webpage. Are you comfortable with it? Sandy
  19. Shawn Bohm sptdSoerontr2tu61hh20fp5l41 5a7S 2l3m05egbc4meAc1l hm:e37uM ยท Last night my son lost his fly vest. We think it was near the number outlet. If anyone finds it please let me know. It has a lot sentimental value to him. Thanks! From FFLT Sept. 4

It's a quick read, but I hope you enjoy it. He put his heart into these recollections. Also, the author's webpage is Outskirtspress.com/WhiteHatsLeavesandPterodactyls . In a day or three that site should include the podcast of his record brown. Steve Brigman a/k/a Trout Bum did a great job in the interview. Sandy
  21. I'll tell you what my observances are. Children are raised with no discipline by parents who would rather give them money than their time. They feed them fast food because it's easier for them, in spite of the harm to their health. Then when their kids have weight problems, they blame MCD's. If they develop image problems or become depressed they let doctors put them on medication. They are already medicated for ADD/ADHD or whatever else will get them a 504, and advantage in school. Yep, we slow education down and we medicate them. If students get in trouble at school we take issue with the administrators instead of blaming our sweet, innocent kids. Kids are not getting physical exercise. Parents enable them by not expecting them to work and allow them to spend hours on end playing video games that are rotting their brains. They all have phones and there is pressure to share the most vulgar photos and acts you can imagine. And because parents haven't given them attention they turn to the first person who will--peers strung out on drugs who want them to share their misery, and men who tell our daughters they love them, knowing young ladies crave that attention. Is it any wonder they have anger issues? We are throwing them to the wolves. Fast forward from primary school. Parents are urged to send their kids to college where they can get a good education and make lots of money and make the parents proud! PARENTS you haven't prepared your student for college. And as far as making you proud? When did this suddenly become about YOU? You didn't care enough to help them through the first 12 years--what qualifies you to know what's good for them now??? So is it a wonder they fall for the latest ideology and liberal think tank? You haven't taught them to think for themselves. You relinquished that responsibility. No need to blame someone else now. I worked closely with students for 33 years. I made some of these mistakes with my own kids. We just need a reset and give them our love, our time, our support, and our faith.
  22. I can empathize. Hang in there.
  23. All I can say is if they stop eating scuds, I'm screwed for bait. I wouldn't have a clue how to fish anything else
