  1. A heads up if you didnt know, the "SPA" schedule at the top of the page will give you a 24 hr forecast for taney. Like every thing, it can be subject to change, but will give you a window for most days. They will post next day schedule at 5 pm, and on friday at five, they post sat, sun, and monday. check it out. Compare it to last weekend when you fished to see how close it was.
  2. Howdy JEff, good to see you on here. I never get tired of looking at those pics. Rick
  3. By sight, most all of those fish on the upper end are caught that way. The big exception would be night time, but it is not always in the blind as most would think.
  4. Hi Brian. Talked to Jeff about 3:00 yesterday. He told me the fish was 28.5 x 20. If I did the math right, that's 14.25. Don't know if it is the same fish that Eric caught, or the "so called" 12lb male. Either way, a very nice fish indeed. Just so happens that today if Jeff's birthday, and this is the largest rainbow he has caught. So happy BD Jeff Duclos. Known Jeff for 2o plus years. Him and I get together to night fish a few times each season. A great fisherman and works hard at it.
  5. Hey Duane,I know you are probably fishing by now, and most likely already know the story. One of those two st louie boys from last night, Jeff Duclos, caught and released a 14.25 male rainbow today. Way to go Jeff, this is the largest rainbow that he has caught. Some really great rainbows coming out of taney the past couple of years.
  6. Your reports are giving me enough incentive to get out and walk and get stronger. I would like to think that maybe I could make a trip in a couple of weeks. I can walk about a half mile on flat ground and then I hit the wall. My left leg just quits working. Hope to see you guys soon. And the deal on the rain, that was MC that told me that.
  7. Know them boys from st louis, Jeff and Jessie. I told Jeff to call you about ak way back when. He told me that you gave them good info, like I knew you would. They had a good trip. Thank you once again. I always said you barely had sense enough to get out of the rain. Good report..
  8. No weight and no sink tip gives it a nice slow fall. I used a 10 foot flouro leader and did a slow lift with the rod tip as I made a slow strip. 64th oz is still heavy enough to pull a weight forward 5 wt under. Allow how ever much fly line to sink in order to maintain a certain depth.
  9. Congrats on that first time limit on the long rod.
  10. After 3 trips this week, and no crappie with jigs or minnows, I took the long rod to the dock. I'm thinkin that if I can't catch fish, then I will play with the long rod in hopes of catching some deep water perch and bluegill, Guess what? Caught 6 keeper crappie. I fished a 1/64th oz white ,"all" maribou jig.. I cast it parallel with the dock and slow stripped it at about 15 to 18 feet deep. I dropped a minnow at the same depth, on the same side after I caught the first crappie. Minnow "zero", long rod and maribou "six". I now have minnows to give away to someone who will provide a good home.
  11.     I use to be one of the first to jump in on something like this. But I have reached a conclusion that I am just dang lucky to have so many places to fish for trout in this great state of missouri, and could care less where they came from. When hooked up on the other end of the line, he or she, is the most spectacular sight of the day, until the next one comes along.
  12.     I would pay admission to watch that.
  13.     I keep forgettin that use is one of them thar eastern hillbilly's. Read your report from last night, I am envious and getting stronger every day. Give me some warm weather and I will be there. Dont even care ifn its shoulder to shoulder with 1500 other hillbillys. I can catch them dinks and be proud of it.
  14.   &nbsp ;jjWe really could care less what you choose to keep or not keep. It was the way you insulted our fishing and traditions that I took offense to. Its a good thing you can fall back on them huge trout up north because mo has none to offer, in addition to all them dang hillbilly's on the creek.
  15.     sure doesnt sound as if trout fishing in "missouri" is for you. too many people and they frown upon eating browns and brookies. opening day here is probably like "ice out" in minnesota, only warmer and you can see across the body of water you are fishing.
  16. The one trip that I made to bssp this winter, I too witnessed a river otter in addition to a rather large mink. Both are big time fish killers. River otters showed up several years back at clarence holland dam. They suddenly disappeared. I would hope that was not a fluke. Blue herons are few and far between as well. Maybe JR should start a petting zoo. Phil, I would say that your recorder burned out during the interview.
  17.     That water temp is normally a lot later than the rivers flowing in. When Kdan and I fished tunnel darn and caplinger mill, 47 to 53 was an ideal range. And with truman, that river water has to warm up the lake water before being discharged into loz. Late march into early april was the time frame for those rivers.
  18. Cole Camp reporting 11 inches and Sedalia at 8 inches. Water temps need to be near 50.
  19.     some cool looking snowmen for sure. Hope you got power restored in short order FW. We had an eight inch total over here on the southwest side of the big pond.
  20. The best thing that could happen to bssp, is to have an opening day where no one shows up. Maybe JR and the rest of the bunch would take a long look at what they have been doing wrong since 04. Unfortunately it will never happen and they will continue to collect their 3 dollars while the rest of the business community suffers. And after saying all of this, I suppose I should wait and see if,just if, this new hatchery operation and expansion, could or would possibly make an improvement in things overall. I guess it would never be even close to the good ole days of the 70's 80's and even early 90's. More quality fish in the creek would be a major improvement.
  21. A great report ollie.
  22.     If use a workin, mr a shame usle miss the hoopla.
  23. I agree with Tim, come on down Murdoc. It's good to hear that you are busy, but like the late Bill Ring use to say, "if you are too busy to go fish, you are entirely too busy".
