  1. Pyatt to the slab... is that the Buffalo or Crooked Creek?
  2. Hell... you was drunk and witnessed Ronnie huggin' a tree... with a knot hole. First time a tree ever uttered a chuckle.

Yep Buzz, it's that time of year for the bottom bouncing jigheads. As hot as it is for us with the sticky air, those poor brownies are suffering from 100% humidity! See ya soon bud...
  4. Big Sugar and the Elk were my proving grounds Russ. Do you recall a place called Cole's Hole on the Big Sugar?

Buzz, that is a beautiful brownie you're holding. Healthy looking fish. Chief, Dylan and I were kinda missing the fishing today. Had a great time at Cabela's this morning. Can't wait to get on the water with ya bud!
  6. Stinger... how ya doing bud? Enjoyed our day on Shoal. Hope we can meet again. There are some outstanding streams out there!

  7. Gimme more than that Don! We're doing a fall float bud... see ya then.
  8. Hey guys and gals, fishing with a guy next weekend I haven't seen in two years. He's like a little brother to me. I have hit the Jacks Fork and many spots in SW Missouri the last few years with Chief and Buzz. Looking to hit some of my old stomping grounds like the NF or Bryant for some smallmouth. Looking to head down early saturday morning and head back after we finish up monday. Gonna camp on the river two nights. Any reports for the NF (Hebron to Hammond) or Bryant (Hodgson to Warren Bridge) would be appreciated. I hate the fact neither of these streams have no designated trophy areas. I do know a spot on the upper NF that always produces a nice smallie. If there are any other suggestions for a smallie float besides what I'm mentioning... chime in! Thx... KC
  9. Yep Kevin... Billy Butler hit a two run homer in the bottom of the 8th to put us a run up. Then we brought in the "Mexecutioner" Joaquim Soria. He mowed 'em down in the 9th! Had a group of ten there tonight. Chief and family had fun... I've started refering to Chief's family as "THE NEOSHO FOUR". They're like Bonnie and Clyde with siblings in tow!
  10. Thanks to all! Chief and family made a trip to the big city last night. Heading out to the Royals game tonight, their first trip to a major league ballpark! Now... as far as the current tenant being major league... hmmmm?
  11. I'll PM you mid-august. My dad's coming to visit for ten days in August. It'd be towards the end of August or after Labor Day. Nice rig buddy!
  12. Yep... John is dearly missed bud. Hey... maybe we can hook up down there sometime. Seems we're the only two on this forum that talk about the L. Niangua. I've got my own ride and I always stay in cabin #5. Karen is great... along with Tammy.
  13. He's one of a kind brother... and he knows it... and he'll read this... and he'll wanna kill me! People don't realize the experience they're missing! Grow some kahona's and go get some brownie's with him OAF guys! (or LM or spots or goggleye or black perch or punkinseeds). I'm positive he'll "MEOW" at me again, but... he's really a big ol' pussy... CAT! He and Dylan are two hell of a fisherman! His boy is something else. I love having him in the front of my canoe.
  14. Jeremy... I was at Chief's house when he got home from your trip. He just shook his head in amazement at the day you guys had. Glad you two had a super trip. Lookin' forward to fishing with ya again! I have to ask... he didn't yell at you too much did he?
  15. I love that river! Did you happen to visit the good folks at Cedar Camp?
  16. Great lookin' fish there Smalliebigs! I'm kinda getting to be like you... I'd almost rather position the person in front and watch'em fish while I nurse my mug of bourbon and water, especially if that person in front is a kid!
  17. Chief's the one with the cowboy hat and I'm the old gray-headed guy with the man boobs...
  18. Eric... you're the maniac. Note the ballcap... (man am I probably in trouble here... again!) KC
  19. Ditto... Black Ford to their camp is a ten miler. Too far in my opinion. Barlow Ford you can take you're time on a hot summer day and catch fish. It's six miles.
  20. Nice report guys! Don (or how 'bout 'Tyer?) bring ol' muddy along on the next get together! Hope thing are going well 'Tyer... sure looks like it! KC
  21. Seems like they're always congregated in the big field south of the highway just east of Boxley early or late during the summer. At least that's what my wife and I experienced...
  22. Using a swivel while trolling on a lake while using spinning gear helps prevent line twist, and I know practically all of you know that, but this thread ain't about lakes. For now while fishing rivers or streams I prefer 6# Vanish. Vanish replaced Berkely's Ultra Thin not too long ago. That's what I used before. Vanish IS expensive I realize, but I like it. I like a medium-light rod with a good backbone but a sensitive tip. Honestly though, like Gavin said, use what you like and use it well. It's all about confidence and experience with what you're using. Braid for me on an Ozark river, especially while casting from a moving canoe, I don't care to use. I can cast ok, but to throw braid into a tangled mess like I see a few of my river buddies do with success... well, it amazes me how they can work a spinnerbait and especially a cranbait out of it with very few hang-ups. But hey... I'm first and foremost just happy to be to be on the river!
  23. The one up here in Independence. It's closest to me... OH! You said WHO? Seriously, I miss the old fishing shows. Pioneers like Harold Ensley (Sportsman's Friend) and Virgil Ward (Championship Fishing). If I hadn't of mentioned Virgil a certain somebody on this forum would've tomahawk punched me... As far as todays shows, I enjoy Hank Parker's "aw' shucks" demeaner. He might not do as much teaching as a Van Dam or Rick Clunn per se, but his shows to me are enjoyable and I like the way he involves his family... fishing or hunting.
  24. Now that's the way to spend the 4th of July! Your boy looks like an up and coming fisherman... if he ain't already!
  25. You eastern Missouri guys have it rough. Maybe they'll target spots only on there way upstream! Insert "I hate KC here"!
